in 2024!

Lighthearted!

Loafers with everything from jeans to dresses with ankle socks.

The leggings and socks combo.

OP posts:

Also loafers. So, so ugly.

Runingoncaffeine · 23/12/2024 20:20

Yes to the scrunchy bum leggings. Or is that a 2023 trend that needs to die?

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 23/12/2024 20:28

those tops with holes in the shoulders. I haven’t seen them look good on anyone.

teenage boys wearing sliders with sports socks.

I couldn’t get into the voluminous floral dresses with white trainers that was everywhere for a couple of summers. It was everywhere in my town. Despite generally liking a maxi dress in the summer.

But I quite like loafers with socks and have a substantial selection of trainers so I should probably get my coat. It’s a proper coat though, not a dry robe, which I always think is a bizarre outerwear item anywhere but by the sea or a lake.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 23/12/2024 20:31

Ok, I also missed the ‘in 2024’. It was tucked in at the beginning of the OP 😳

I quite like 2024 trends. A lot of my favourite colours have come around again. And there are fewer floral dresses and white trainers around…

Violetparis · 23/12/2024 20:37

Big puffy sleeves.

DarkDarkNight · 23/12/2024 20:43

Long sleeveless duvet jackets. A weird mashup of bodywarmer and winter coat. If it’s that bloody cold you need sleeves surely. Worn with leggings, white socks pulled up over and NB 327s.

So many people not bothering to think about trends specific to 2024 and just naming fashions/clothing items/shoes they don't like.🙄

I know but I think we are enjoying it.

RosesAndHellebores · 23/12/2024 21:29

2024: Beige borg. Human Teddy bear vibes.

Clarice99 · 23/12/2024 21:36

Pre-dates 2024, but there's still far too many people wearing beige leggings, paired with a skin tight beige top.

I call it the Bubbles DeVere look. Not good.

StarlightLady · 23/12/2024 22:04
  • Trousers under skirts and dresses.
  • Trousers that come up to your bra.
  • Anything really thick/warm and sleeveless.

Those knitted head band things that look like part of a woolly hat. How is that going to keep your head warm ??

I love these, I have a thick head of hair and find hats are far too warm. While a head band keeps my forehead and ears warm. Just perfect! The only time I want a full hat, is at the top of a mountain when it's blowing a gale.

ThePoshUns · 23/12/2024 22:10

Agree with barrel leg and horseshoe shaped jeans. So unflattering.
Also agree all the Borg fleece jackets and waistcoats.
I've really atrito find clothes I do like this year.
I do like the wide leg trousers and adidas sambas a la Rishi!

Sidge · 23/12/2024 22:10

Young men with moustaches. Too weird. And that haircut that’s longer and permed on top, so they all look like alpacas.

Not sure if it’s specific to 2024 as I’m not cool enough to know what’s in and what’s not, but wearing those godawful Dryrobes everywhere. I saw a woman in one at the gym the other day - just put a sweatshirt on like everyone else you plonker.

ThePoshUns · 23/12/2024 22:11

I have a lovely pair of loafers from Dune but I loved the penny loader trend back in the late 80s.

Grassgarden · 23/12/2024 22:12

I don't think people who wear dryrobes think they are fashionable, they are just amazing for watching kids play football/walking the dog.

IsThePopeCatholic · 23/12/2024 22:13

Stilettos
pencil skirts
crop tops

IggysPop · 23/12/2024 22:14

Pointy toes on shoes. Cannot stand a pointy toe.

Zinglenibber · 23/12/2024 22:15

Cross body bags that have such short straps that you're only a sneeze away from an armpit wedgie.

Loafers are elegant. Worn by some of the most beautiful and elegant women in the world. If they are good enough for them...!!

Cold shoulder tops are awful!
Anything keyhole is awful!
Turtle neck sweaters make me choke.
Those shapeless jeans!
I still wear my Jeans from the early noughties though. Girls allowed/footballers Wag style 😁
Oh and that young male scally fashion that's here to stay:
Black padded jacket, Black hoodie, black trackies, tough looking dog obligatory..🤨

Runingoncaffeine · 23/12/2024 19:19

I am gonna add crocs as every day wear… or even considering it fashion wear…

I think we can say crocs on anyone over the age of ten.

Tooty78 · 23/12/2024 22:27

Those overlong shapeless puffer coats. I get that they are warm and cosy, but they make the wearer look like one of the Mondoshawan aliens from the film 5th Element😄

SharpOpalNewt · 23/12/2024 22:27

Boxy tops. They don't suit anyone.

canyon2000 · 23/12/2024 22:27

How can you not understand why people wear trainers as everyday footwear though?!! You might not like them but surely you can understand why so many people wear them?

I look like a yellow sofa in mine, but I'm not wearing it as a fashion item, but to be warm when I'm walking the dog or watching football. And they are better than short down puffa jackets, which make me look like Bibendum.
