Showers every day but washes his face when the shampoo runs down his face! 😆

Thats it. No moisturiser, nothing.

Anyone else?

My DP doesn't. Just a wash of his face when in the shower does him.
Sun screen on a hot day (rarely in the uk!)
In the winter he gets a very dry nose and I have had to persuade him to moisturise it because it's almost peeling it's so dry!! So with the pressure of me a tiny ant size of moisturiser on his nose every now and then🤣

I had an ex boyfriend who used Kiehls blue toner and a male friend who liked Origins eye cream but aside from an Italian man I knew (he used the works, face wash, moisturiser etc) most men I know don’t use face products. Having said that my stepdad was bought some men Kiehls soap with scrub in it and it was in the family bathroom and DM said she liked it so I got it for both of them this year.

JustCuttinAboot · 23/12/2024 11:45

My husband has never done skincare’s he is 66 and would be utterly bemused by the thought of it.

ChristmasKelpie · 23/12/2024 11:55

My DH is in his 60, has worked outside all his life and has great skin, he only uses baby soap and tepid water to wash his face.

Wonderi · 23/12/2024 12:04

OP what skincare do you do?

Angrymum22 · 23/12/2024 12:13

Apart from sunscreen I gave up on lotions and potions years ago. Rationally your skin produces its own oils which I suspect if we were to synthesise would become the new miracle serum.
Just like hair and scalp, if we continually strip the natural oils out our bodies produce greater quantities prompting us to cleanse more.
I rarely wash my face with anything but water or my cellar water to remove makeup on the odd occasion I use it. My sling is aging but I’m a long way behind many contemporaries.

Batmanisaplaceinturkey · 23/12/2024 12:19

We have been so brainwashed by capitalism. There is nothing weird about not having an interest in putting chemicals on your face.

avaritablevampire · 23/12/2024 13:46

Neither of us. I don't wash my face with soap and I'm pretty sure neither does dh.

InCheesusITrust · 23/12/2024 13:51

I have 3 things for "skin routine"
Face wash
Face oil
Spf moisturiser
DH has the same (different moisturiser)

Then basic make up (5 items).

Based what I am seeing online about skincare women vs men, I should also have testicles🤷

I agree with others regarding marketing success of not needed things unless one has skin problems.

ByHeartyCyanMentor · 23/12/2024 13:54

I’m with your DH - I use a bar of soap if my face is particularly dirty.
No moisturiser or other lotions and potions. The same sun cream I put on my shoulders in the summer and never wear make up.
I’ve got lovely soft clear skin very few fine lines and no wrinkles I’m 42.

fivebyfivebuffy · 23/12/2024 13:55

I wash my face because it's skin and well, it's like your ears or something, it gets dirty and I need to remove SPF
Moisturise as my skin can get dry, or SPF depending what I'm doing
Then tretinoin because I'm acne prone

That has my skin looking the best it's done in years

LimeYellow · 23/12/2024 14:16

DH doesn't do skin care and neither do I.

SallyWD · 23/12/2024 14:20

I don't do much. Wash my face with soap in the shower. Occasionally moisturise (once every few days). I'm 50 and my skin's nice and soft, not many wrinkles. I'm.not bragging, I'm just saying I think genes, healthy diet and hydration are more beneficial to skin than some expensive skin care routine.

Jabbabong · 23/12/2024 14:45

They are not covering their faces with make up and all sorts everyday so they probably do not need to.

User19876536484 · 23/12/2024 14:50

Mine does the same. His skincare routine involves only soap/shampoo and water.

paristotokyo · 23/12/2024 14:53

dh doesnt doesn't do any skincare whatsoever, even though I've tried to get him into a routine. He doesn't apply spf at all. He's nice facial skin but his body is baby butt smooth. I'm very jealous with my dry raisin-esque body Blush

maldivemoment · 23/12/2024 14:54

Wow! 4 pages!

Not read every post but it seems my husband is just like all the others! And they all seem to have lovely skin.

Makes you wonder if us women have got it wrong?!

stargirl1701 · 23/12/2024 21:35

My DH would fall apart laughing at the notion of skincare. He uses one (the cheapest in any given shop) bottle for skin and hair in the shower.

swimsong · 23/12/2024 21:53

The best skin care is splashing cold water on your face every morning.

OhJustGiveItARest · 23/12/2024 21:56

My husband is 67 and has never used anything other than soap on his face - no moisturiser etc. His skin is dull but he's not bothered. Our 45 year old son uses the lot and has got fantastic skin. He can easily pass for 35

Jennyathemall · 23/12/2024 21:59

Maybe, just maybe, women don’t actually need it either…😳

DappledThings · 23/12/2024 22:02

UnbearableLoss · 23/12/2024 11:00

Hmm when people say they do no skincare do they mean not even a face wash? If I wear SPF (or makeup, but sticking with the essential argument) then it makes it really greasy. If I used bar soap to wash it would make mysl face extremely dry. Both of these would just have me breaking out going from greasy to flakey skin each night.

Are those that say they don't use skincare oversimplifying it? I just can't imagine not using a gentle face wash and a nourishing moisturiser to deal with a mucky face.

I use a sulphur bar soap as it allegedly helps with rosacea. Not sure it does so probably won't replace it when it's finished.

Don't use anything else. No moisturiser or anything. So yes, really no skincare.

backfromouterspace · 23/12/2024 22:03

My wife has zero skin care routine, similar to your husbands. Makes me laugh because she has perfect skin and not a wrinkle (she's 42). so many women ask her what her skin care routine is and she says 'oh just soap and water', which is a total lie as she doesn't even do that ha ha. It is literally shower water. Obviously I'm insanely envious.

FoxRedPuppy · 23/12/2024 22:04

I’m basically the same as your dh. And I don’t moisturise, unless you count sunscreen on the summer.

Newgirls · 23/12/2024 22:07

Jealous of all this great skin! Mine only got into using moisturiser in his 50s and sadly it shows. Not sure many men I know our age have great skin either. Must be some good genes out there!
