They're aiming for worthy causes rather than glitter events. I'm not sure it's wise because the media can only report on dullish events for so long. Look at Anne very quietly working hard but barely noticed outside local papers.

I'm sure film and television employs lots of people and are important. You need to be princessy sometimes.

I would say that supporting the British film industry is important and it's just a few hours out of their evening. Perhaps they're going away for half-term.

The BFI is very important. Perhaps they're not going for other reasons, as Deftly said, half term holidays, or perhaps there are medical appointments.

Only doing meaningful engagements and not talking about Kates clothes is one thing, but their actual job is to promote British industry.
The film and television industry is huge and internationally renowned.
Unless there is a medical reason Kate can't go, they should be there.

Humph re BAFTAs. I need princesses to be a BIT princessy outside of State banquets.

I think visiting prisons, hospices, schools etc are important. But professionals working in such places often wear uniforms in dull colours...something a bit cheerful would be nice! (In my opinion!)

This is a brilliant idea. I wonder if her wedding dress would be a step too far, it was lovely with it's sleeves. She had a 23 inch waist according to my mothers friend who worked in a department store.

I think the hair must just be tucked in her collar in the first one.
