Longline ‘fitted’ puffer coat quest

Whosmakingdinner · 10/12/2024 16:06

Advice needed please for a ladies longline puffer coat which doesn’t make me look like Michelin man. Needs to be good guality to last for years, so I don’t mind paying more for this purchase. Ideally I’m looking for a navy colour with silver trimmings (zip and fasteners). The best ‘fitted’ one I’ve found so far is Joules Cherington but the fasteners etc are a shiny brass colour. I’m 5’8 and size 14/16 Many thanks !!

I’m coveting the khaki version of this, it’s gorgeous. It’s fitted and the hardware isn’t too blingy.

Edited

It's beautiful but so heavy and you can't machine wash it which put me off. Really flattering on though. I'm looking at the new black version as it's lighter.

I'm another recommender of Lands End. I bought a long black puffer 19 years ago from them, it withstood a South Dakota winter storm season ( and that's COLD), it's still going strong. I've had loads of compliments over the years.

A couple of years ago I bought one of these in navy (they don't seem to have them atm, not sure whether it's just end of season) which has a much slimmer cut and I had to go up a couple of sizes to fit a jumper underneath, but it's super-cosy and still looks as good as new. PLUS, they have an incredible returns policy, even months or years after buying. Worth waiting for them to restock and check their other designs, though this one is their longest.

My daughter bought me one last Christmas by Regatta. Its navy, with a hood, knee length, very warm but slim fitting.

Can you get Soia & Kyo in the U.K.? www.soiakyo.ca/products/talyse-c?variant=45338033062113

Try Vinted. I got a brand new M&S one on Vinted for £10 a few months ago and wear it all the time.

@Whosmakingdinner do come back and update what you went with in the end. Currently on the search.

Yes I will !! I haven’t found anything suitable and stopped looking over Xmas, but will resume hopefully next week. There are lots of good suggestions on this thread, depending on your taste. I am still resisting brass accessories on navy coats which has ruled out the best options IMO, it’s a shame for me that it seems to be a thing this year. Unfortunately I am also very fussy about obvious branding (I don’t mind the brand name being seen, it’s just when they put it on an eye catching background such as white on a navy coat), this ruled out a Superdry one I liked. I have actually been looking for a few winters now, when it warms up in Spring I forget about the annual search, but I am determined to resolve it this season ! Hope you have good luck on your search 😀

Dear thread

Are any of these fitted but not belted?

It's really easy to get a fitted look with a belt round the middle of anything. But you can only wear it done up with the belt done up, because the belts are heavy and clangy swinging and catching your knuckles.

They look wrong with the belts off, and even worse if you try and do the belt up behind you.

Yours sincerely

Another woman who's been looking for exactly the same thing as OP (but not with a belt)

(And yes I'm being lazy and not going through four more pages of links without photos, when the first few all had belts 😁)

The Trespass Audrey is nicely fitted without a belt!

hands down the best coat I’ve ever owned cannot recommend it more highly and lululemon quality is 10/10 IMO 😊

Garlicnorth · 05/01/2025 00:28

I was looking at this just now. After reading your posts, I think you should go for the Lululemon coat above - but here's another couple for your consideration:

(I don't work for La Redoute! I've been buying shedloads from their sale, so am always looking on there.)

The RAB Deep parka is fabulously warm, really well fitted and does not have a belt. I have it in black - 5 years old now, am thinking of buying it again. Worth it.

alijangra · 05/01/2025 08:17

I have this khaki, it’s beautiful and excellent quality. This one is a lovely blue

I've got this one- it comes with an elasticated belt to make it fitted but can also be worn without and still looks good. It's a very heavy down filled coat and quite thick fabric so super warm.

I got a lovely fitted warm navy one on Landsend website in the sale. They do different lengths. It's the warmest coat I own..

ScaryM0nster · 05/01/2025 08:53

Tog24 have one and their quality is usually decent.

The puff pattern is fitted with a defined waist.

Coatsrus · 05/01/2025 09:33

Some fab coats here, but a bit dear.
