I couldn't see a new thread so I'm starting one!

I tried Granado Boemia today. Spicy, woody leathery scent. Trying to work out what smells quite familiar about it - possibly one of the Initio scents? I don’t dislike it, but it’s really not the sort of scent I ever reach for, so it’s going on the “to go” list.

IDontHateRainbows · 19/01/2025 18:09

Sticking with the DS & Durga theme, I have put Debaser on for SOT Evening

I do like this one, it's strong without being over powering lovely fig scent

paristotokyo · 19/01/2025 21:21

@AprilLady I like boemia. For me it reminds me of halfeti a little.. similar sort of profile but geranium instead of rose. It's like it's more subdued little brother Grin

IDontHateRainbows · 20/01/2025 07:57

Bd creme de cuir today. Still loving this brand, felt like something a bit more zingy and this has pineapple in the top notes.

Office day so nothing too strong or out there

AprilLady · 20/01/2025 17:44

@paristotokyo aah, it’s a while since I tried it, but I remember not being keen on Halfeti, so makes sense that Boemia didn’t work that well for me either.

Today’s trial was Carner Bo-Bo. Probably one for the summer actually - citrusy opening and then light citrus/light white floral laundry type scent. Became a skin scent quite quickly. Not unpleasant, but again not something I’d reach for so another one for the “to go” pile.

Lurkingshark · 20/01/2025 19:47

I like boemia and the floral richness. I think there liberty beauty drop fans so I imagine it sells quickly.

SOTD Dear Polly by Vilhelm parfumerie. Think this a tea one, I do love it but not one for two days in a row. Very full on.

Matiere Premier - anyone tried vanilla powder? I have a large sample which I might sell but I’ve not actually smelt it. I’m not a gourmand but from what I read, it’s not actually sweet.

Yes I've tried vanilla powder. I really liked it at first but it became a bit cloying on the dry down. Not overly sweet, but it had a smell that reminded me of baking!

IDontHateRainbows · 20/01/2025 20:39

Well, the rouge smoking extrait sample arrived and it did not disappoint. It's like a sauve, grown up cousin of the original. Less sweet more smoky and deep and multi dimensional. Changes a lot over time. Think deep cherry leather. There's some lactonic in there too.

I'm seriously in love but the full bottle price is a joke so I'll have to make do with samples.

Millymollymine · 20/01/2025 21:39

Sotd is Iris Poudre Frederic Malle - I love it - the descriptions on fragrantica are unusual 🤣 and ott - so to keep it simple i would describe it as a powdery floral that is creamy (maybe a bit soapy?) and the violet comes through in the dry down.

IDontHateRainbows · 21/01/2025 08:19

SOTD is Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille - didn't like it when it first went on but it's settled now and I quite like it - it's quite a realistic tobacco scent (not like my nan's silk cut thankfully!) and it's not too sweet on the vanilla.
I haven't bothered with Tom Ford previously but I got the discovery/sample box in the Fenwick sale. Also in there is lost cherry, soleil blanc, oud wood and rose prick. Working from home today so I'm tempted to try a few of them.

IDontHateRainbows · 21/01/2025 11:32

Continuing with the tom ford discovery set:

also tried soleil blanc, it's a summery beach scent reminiscent of floral street Arizona bloom. Would probably only want to wear something like this on holiday.

And then oud wood. This is a nice Oud. Wouldn't want to wear it every day, it's quite strong and masculine but interesting for occasional wear

Magpiecomplex · 21/01/2025 17:46

4160T's Flawed Fern today. It's a nicer fougere than Shadowed Veil but still not something I'm very fussed by. It's ok. Not actively unpleasant but I certainly wouldn't buy any more.

AprilLady · 21/01/2025 17:55

SOTD is Merchant of Venice Queen of the Night. No vanilla listed in the notes, but to me it’s a spicy, ambery vanilla. Fragrantica suggests it is close to YSL Babycat, which was massively hyped on social media a year or so ago. I can see the resemblance, but it is fortunately without whatever loud note in Babycat made it a scrubber for me. Still not something I’m likely to wear much though. Probably another one for the “to go” pile, but I might give it another test before doing so.

SabrinaPrune · 21/01/2025 20:32

Molecule 01+ patchouli

thanks to whoever tipped me off that there were loads of them on eBay!

IDontHateRainbows · 21/01/2025 23:17

Final sample from the TF private blend set was lost cherry. Been meaning to try this for a while. Nice, but unexceptional. Rouge smoking extrait is a far better cherry or even original rouge smoking. Find the TF a bit fizzy and overpowering in the opening, although it settles down.

Magpiecomplex · 22/01/2025 07:17

SOTD is Ånd Beån. Almost a gourmand but not quite, it's based on tonka bean. Very nice!

IDontHateRainbows · 22/01/2025 12:08

Loving the Tom Ford tobacco vanille so that's gone on today. Nice change from the sweet scents

paristotokyo · 22/01/2025 13:04

Penhaligons discontinued malabah today. This is a warm and spicy fragrance with ginger, cardamom and rose. Uplifted with lemon. Not overpowering despite the strong notes. Really like it and smells like chai

Jemimapuddleduk · 22/01/2025 15:12

Memo Paris madurai, beautiful fragrance and not my usual type of scent.

SabrinaPrune · 22/01/2025 20:47

4160s Flawed Fern. I quite like this, it smells like an 80s bathroom, a more piney version of badedas.

IDontHateRainbows · 22/01/2025 21:06

For the evening I'm trying D and G Devotion. Very lemony to start although not a sharp zingy lemon, its very sweet and powdery like a lemon posses dessert. More vanillary on the dry down. Long lasting, but I can't decide if it's a but overpowering. The lemon dominates.

IDontHateRainbows · 22/01/2025 21:23

Have mixed the devotion with matiere premiere vanilla powder and it's tempered the lemon nicely. Smells of lemon meringue pie now, lovely.

paristotokyo · 22/01/2025 21:48

Did a lucky dip with my collection of long forgotten samples in a bid to use them up. So ended up wearing le labo another 13. First time trying. Ohh I really like this. It's essentially a skin scent but it smells so familiar to me but I just can't put my finger on it. It reminds me of being in a library, as weird as that sounds. When you pick up an old book and flick through the pages quickly, that type of scent. Slightly musky and sweet. Weird review but I like a lot lol

MiaN · 23/01/2025 05:47

@AprilLady I liked queen of the night, the only one I am very happy to keep from Harrods advent. By mid January and countdown to sun holiday I am not into winter vanilla so I may move it with Jo Malone Ginger Biscuit and Penhaligons Babylon for next November/ December as to me it's same season scent. I like the Amouage Reflection too from that advent

I kept few more from it - Tanzania Terenzi Superba Rosa and Roja Elysium but don't love them and not sure I will get much use of them. They smell a lot like designer scents Fame/Alien Goddess and the roja reminds me of Jadore.

MiaN · 23/01/2025 06:28

Testing Ouai North Bondi. I like it more then I thought I would. Summer vibe shampoo fresh easy to like scent.
