I couldn't see a new thread so I'm starting one!

My no spend on perfume is going well so far, I have not spend euro this year. I don't remember my last purchase - it was somewhere around Christmas but I am not counting that time, proper no buy start form January.

I think it is great to explore things but it is good for me every so often to pause and just enjoy what I have, I still have sample sets to go through so no spends on smelly stuff until 20th of March when I am heading to the canaries.

IDontHateRainbows · 17/01/2025 09:45

I'm definitely going nose blind as I gave my daughter the phlur vanilla body spray from the space nk calendar, she said it was quite a strong scent but I could barely smell it myself. I can't bear the thought of a full detox but maybe I need to swap to different kinds of scents for a bit?

Kayali discovery set part one - tried the apple and the lychee. Both quite sweet scents, the apple more so - not a fan of that one. Lychee a bit better. Both go on quite overpowering and fizzy - but dry down to something a bit more manageable. Wouldn't RP either - a bit too sweet and fizzy for me

Enjoy the canaries - I guess that will be time to get the summer scents out?

SOTD is Clarins Eau Dynamisante.
I still love this despite my son saying I smell like an old lady in it!
Anyway I'm WFH and he's away at uni so can't smell me 😁

TheLongRider · 17/01/2025 10:46

Coffee Addict - it has a nice patchouli base but I mostly smell like a caramel espresso.

fivebyfivebuffy · 17/01/2025 10:59

Angels share today

I used the vieve shower gel last night and forgot how good it is - neroli, santal and amber
If you like a smoky scent, it's so good

SOTD is By the Fireplace. It’s definitely growing on me although I may pass it on to DH

Mackemlass79 · 17/01/2025 12:30

SOTD today is halfti i couldn't really smell it fully when I got the small sample as I had flu before Christmas however I really like it it's a bit more masculine than I would usually go for but I have been ordering a fair few unisex mini sizes recently so maybe my preference is changing

paristotokyo · 17/01/2025 13:15

Entire house down with the dreaded viral thing that's going round so it's rough out here. Chosen Ambre Vanille as needed it's comforting factor! Also used the body oil after my shower which I loooove

IDontHateRainbows · 17/01/2025 13:22

Got fed up.of Kayali all a bit over sweet, tried Xerjoff Naxos from the HN AC. It's a citrus vanilla combo, not too keen on the citrus element and the 15mls are going for a fair price on ebay so I'm gonna say no and list it.

Lurkingshark · 17/01/2025 13:35

SOTD Hera reigns from Liberty which I think a few ppl have here. Very different from my others so I’m enjoying it. Possibly the pink pepper or jasmine is full on for me everyday but it’s long lasting and unusual ( for me).

Magpiecomplex · 17/01/2025 18:20

4160T's London Linden today. Nice light, sweet floral but it disappeared fast. Got a weirdly acrid undertone to it but it's not hugely noticeable.

IDontHateRainbows · 17/01/2025 21:30

Went to selfridges this evening and fell in love with the rouge smoking extrait, not the price tag at £240 a bottle tho. Luckily found a sample service selling it for a lot less.

MiaN · 18/01/2025 06:17

Acne Studios Frederic Malle today for me

AprilLady · 18/01/2025 11:34

I realised I hadn’t posted for a while. I’ve been trying to sort through my (embarrassingly large) collection of 5ml, 10ml and samples that come from various sets, calendars and GWPs. My aim for the next month or two is to test each, and decide whether to keep or get rid. I’m going to try only keeping those that are a strong like or love. I just don’t reach for the scents that are only okay.

Today is Acqua di Parma Lily of the Valley. It is a lovely soft floral that smells as you might hope from the name. This is quiet and inoffensive so would make a good office scent. I’m labelling it a strong like and keeping it.

@MiaN I’ve tried Acme Studios in store a few times. Still haven’t entirely made up my mind about it, but can see the appeal.

FestivelyScent · 18/01/2025 18:30

Hello lovely fragrant people! 👋 May I join? 😊

I used to be a regular on the perfumista threads, but stopped wearing perfume for well over a year (writing that out is still shocking to me) due to awful headaches and migraines (which I actually think are linked to possible undiagnosed lupus). Anyway, my health issues continue, but everytime I've gone out this past year I've felt completely naked without my protective cloud of perfume, so I'm trying to slowly reintroduce tiny dabs of scent.

So, in the spirit of the thread, a few days ago SOTD was Chanel No5, and today SOTN is SL Ambre Sultan. I love amber, everything about it, the way it can be complex or simple depending on the formulation, and amber in general is just a comfort for me. Amber Sultan was my original introduction to the amber family and it's still a very firm love of mine.

IDontHateRainbows · 18/01/2025 19:30

SOTN is Maison Francis Kurkdjian Gentle Fluidity Gold which I got in the HN advent. Scent profile on Fragrantica sounded right up my street - powdery musky vanilla - very similar profile to matiere premiere vanilla powder but there the similarity ends, it's a lot more sophisticated and deeper - like if vanilla powder and kayali 28 had a baby. I like it.

paristotokyo · 18/01/2025 20:46

Sotd is le labo thé noir 26. An interesting one and like it a lot but do find myself thinking whether it would be a better home fragrance as a candle or room spray. Smoky fig, black tea and even though it's not listed as a note, I get a lot of rose in this.

AprilLady · 18/01/2025 21:36

@FestivelyScent lovely to “see” you on the thread, and glad to hear that you are now starting to wear perfumes again.

@paristotokyo I love wearing Le Labo The Noir 26, and also have it as a bath oil, which works rather well.

SabrinaPrune · 19/01/2025 07:58

London Linden, what @Magpiecomplex said. I get the acrid undertone too but to me that’s what linden smells like and balances the sweetness. It doesn’t last long though.

SabrinaPrune · 19/01/2025 07:59

Like the sound of le labo the noir

Deathraystare · 19/01/2025 08:45

I am wearing Lusting for sun either by DG&D (I think that is right) or Juliette has a gun. IN such a rush this morning and cannot remember. However, due to our front doors not opening at work and the abuse I am getting from the staff, I feel I smell of Eau de Despair!!! I want to go home!!!

MiaN · 19/01/2025 09:18

Julia Has a Gun Not a Perfume. I am surprised how much I have used form the travel, it's not something I would buy myself but I am getting through it. I may add something salty to it later - like Arizona Bloom

IDontHateRainbows · 19/01/2025 09:55

SOTD is pistachio by DS and Durga - bought this as a tiny sample to try as the rollerballs were in the Space NK sale. Well despite it being sold as a creamy nutty gourmand type, it seems to have a good deal of patchouli in there which is not a scent I love. very strong with honey notes, but it's just a bit overdone to my nose so thank god for the sample services to avoid blind buys. Not a keeper. I so want to like DS and Durga but have only ever got on with Debaser. The other scents I've tried from them have all been overpowering in some way.

Magpiecomplex · 19/01/2025 10:03

4160T's Absolute Filth today. I like this one, despite the description saying it contains jasmine. I'm getting mostly tobacco and vanilla, with maybe a hint of iso-E-super.
