I couldn't see a new thread so I'm starting one!

I have just come across this thread so must have a good read. I need to find two new scents. I adore Gucci Guilty Black for women and it has been discontinued and DD loves Ted Baker Raspberry & Orange Blossom and this too has been discontinued. We are both quite sad at this. If anyone comes across either that may be still for sale can you give me heads up please?

4160s While We Are Asleep - yuck smells like privet and I can’t scrub cos on a work call.

SabrinaPrune · 15/01/2025 14:28

Ha @Magpiecomplex i don’t get any jasmine at all. I don’t know what the privet note even is - bamboo? Based on the description I thought I’d like this one haha so you predicted well! Now scrubbed and off to find some iso e super

This is why I love perfume so much, it adds a bit of excitement to each day!
Is Rouge Smoking quite heavy on the cherry?

Yes, there's a fruity sweet top note but it doesn't feel sickly.

I think it must be the bamboo. I was sniffing the tissue last night wondering what on earth that note was, and came to the conclusion that it had to be the bamboo. I'm slightly concerned the notes say that the creators preferred this to Metaphysic!

@BollickyBill I think the Gucci one is still available? For the Ted Baker one, Sana Jardin's 'Incense Water' is a very nice raspberry rose which might work.

IDontHateRainbows · 15/01/2025 20:12

SOT eve is mod vanilla by ariane grande. Not my usual house but there are some decent celeb scents out there these days and it's good to mix it up... got this as a sample in a set on sale. It's quite a clean, fresh vanilla. I think I must be getting nose blind tho as I've had to put loads on to smell it. But I reckon that's me, not the perfume.

potplantsinparadise · 15/01/2025 20:20

I tried Escentric Molecules Patchouli variant today - really loved it, properly warmed up as I wore it. Finally this might be the actually earthy patchouli scent to take me into spring (also I think it was in an advent calendar bc there are loads of 7.5mls of it on eBay). Nearly all the other patchouli scents I've tried so far have been nice but too 'feminine' and sweetened. Also this might be where I get on board with all the Iso-E scents - I like the idea but none of them up til now have done much for me.

I've tried. I even had stores in Gran Canaria look for me and they've all said discontinued. I can't find it anywhere in Ireland either. 🙈🙈🙈

TooMuchDontCare · 15/01/2025 23:39

I've just had a little post-shower spray of Le Labo Another 13 which I really love!

Deathraystare · 16/01/2025 06:45

Despite getting a lot of testers I did not have time to choose one this morning so a squirt of Je Reviens body spray will have to do! I do love it (even though some people go on about it being an old ladies scent. Well this old lady loves it and prefers it to the sickly sweet crap that is all around us that even a three year old would say is too sweet!!)

OchonAgusOchonOh · 16/01/2025 09:56

Today I'm wearing The Hedonist by Ex-Hihilo.

I can only smell the vaguest hint of something a bit woody if I sniff really hard. I tried a bit on a tissue too and I can't smell that after a couple of minutes either. I know you can go nose blind to perfumes you wear a lot but I've never not been able to smell a new perfume before.

IDontHateRainbows · 16/01/2025 12:13

Today I had a meeting at work so thought I'd rely on good old Byredo to not be too strong/ not last/not project as I think I've become an oversprayer through noseblindness. Used Mojave Ghost Absolu from a scent sample - strange how much I loved this before christmas, I still do like it but it's definitely losing out to Rouge Smoking which has the top spot so I'm glad I didn't buy the full very expensive bottle. I don't think I should buy full bottles as a general rule as my tastes change so much and I always want to try new stuff. Happy with 10ml samples.

I'm getting this through over use of perfumes in general - the Ariane Grande mod vanilla I tried yesterday I got the barest scent from and it's not supposed to be particularly strong but I have essentially dulled all my scent receptors I think. A bit like if you eat a lot of spicy or flavourfull food and then the normal stuff can seem bland. The answer is probably a detox but I'm not sure I can bring myself to go scent free for any length of time!

I've only just started the whole perfume thing. Up until recently I would just use a few different perfumes on rotation. I'm not ready to do a detox.

gaggiagirl · 16/01/2025 15:26

I got a Juliette has a gun discovery set from space NK so I'm wearing Pear Inc. today..
It's beautiful I love it. Warm, sweet, wears close to the skin it's not loud. I've enjoyed sniffing myself today.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 16/01/2025 15:31

It's really weird but 3-4 hours later I decided to do a bit more sniffing to see can I smell The Hedonist and it's definitely there. I could smell nothing 5-30 minutes after putting in on but can now. I quite like it but assume I missed all the initial bits and am not getting the full complexity.

QueefofSheena · 16/01/2025 15:49

I haven’t posted for a while as I’ve stuck to the same 2 or 3 scents, mainly Molecule + Patchouli. SOTD today was supposed to be Commodity Paper. I washed it off as it just smelled of chemicals. Then I tried I Don’t Know What, which smelled quite lemony at first then disappeared.

IDontHateRainbows · 16/01/2025 16:05

I don't 'get' I don't know what - it's marketed as a perfume enhancer but why would I want to enhance a perfume I already have with something that doesn't seem to have a personality of it's own. There are a few of these perfume enhancer things - looking at you, Juliet 'not a perfume' and I think Glossier You also falls in this category. Is anyone a fan and can explain the appeal?

CorneliaStreet · 16/01/2025 16:10

Shay & Blue Tonka Angelica today. It’s not very strong and I needed a good eight sprays before I could really smell it but it’s actually lasting fairly well and is a lovely, soft, vaguely gourmand but not too much, scent.

Mackemlass79 · 16/01/2025 17:23

Scent of the day for me has been rose jam from lush a nice inexpensive one and actually lasts on me one of my favourofe scents from lush

TheLongRider · 16/01/2025 19:41

Ambre Russe today. I love it, it's like a warm mug of Russian tea with an amber base. It's like a hug in a perfume. I don't overspray, just two squirts and I can still smell it 12 hours later.

Iandhd23 · 16/01/2025 21:53

SOTD is PDM Valaya. Its a nice clean scent; it smells like there may be a pear note which im finding quite interesting. I like it and would wear it again, but not enough to purchase a small bottle or a larger sample.

IDontHateRainbows · 17/01/2025 07:52

Wfh today so will be working through the kayali discovery set with full review to follow...

MiaN · 17/01/2025 08:09

Kayali Capri in bottle yesterday, Xerjoff Lira today - lemon gourmand mood.
