SOT Evening is BDK Rouge Smoking. This one I really like. It's like a cross (to my nose) between Velvet Tonka and mojave ghost absolu. Stunning scent. My only issue with the BDK range is a lot of them are quite samey - there's definitely a house DNA. Fruity, strong, sweet scents. Gris Charnel is a bit different but the others I've tried there's definitely a bit of a theme going on. I have liked most of what I've tried, the only one I strongly dislike is Pas ce soir. Not tonight, today or any other time! Smells like rotting over ripe fruit to me.

Iandhd23 · 08/01/2025 22:17

SOTD is Delina Exclusif. I got this as a free sample from PDM. This is my second time trying it and I just don’t get the hype. I’m not the biggest lover of rose fragrances and the rose in the opening smells quite dated to me and is a bit too strong. After a few hours the dry down is pleasant but it’s definitely not for me.

paristotokyo · 08/01/2025 22:44

Bianco latte again today. It's definitely one to spray only once or twice but I love it. Lasts ages and I get catching whiffs of it randomly.

IDontHateRainbows · 09/01/2025 07:22

Matiere vanilla powder today. Thought I'd take a break from the bdk lovely as it is. A blessed wfh day today so I can stink the house out and worry only about my husband.

Any laura mercier ambre vanille fans, the mini sets are currently half price at £18 at Fenwick. Includes 10ml Rollerball, body oil and body lotion. I've stocked up.
Sales are such a dangerous time for me but then again I can sell some of the bargains to fund my habit...

Deathraystare · 09/01/2025 08:28

@Fraaances
Thank you! I was looking on Amazon at the 4711 stuff reAdy for summer and saw this one and thought watermelon? Aquatic notes ? No too light and sweet for me but you give me hope!

paristotokyo · 09/01/2025 10:15

Sotd is find comfort by rare beauty. Have a 10ml of the eau de parfum and it is lovely. Definitely a departure from my usual sort of scents but think it's really versatile and will wear well into the warmer weather. Apparently a dupe of bal d'afrique which I have a tiny sample of so may do a test to compare.

TooMuchDontCare · 09/01/2025 10:17

Today I'm wearing Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille & really enjoying it!

Iandhd23 · 09/01/2025 19:45

SOTD for me is bianco latte. This is my second time sampling it. I really wanted to love this one but I don’t think it agrees with my body chemistry as I get a really strong smell of burnt plastic.

Same to my nose. I found it sickening

IDontHateRainbows · 09/01/2025 20:30

Having second thoughts on the vanilla powder. Loved it at first but now it seems a bit too overpowering and I smell like a bakery. Luckily only had a small sample.

Very strange how some scents you like at first and go off, others the other way around.

Still digging the BDK vibe so evening scent is 312 saint honore. It's up there with gris charnel and rouge smoking but seems undiscovered/ I hadn't heard much mention of it before trying.

Selfridges sent me the 3 x 10ml bdk set which had a wrong perfume/ different to that on the website, I was more than willing to return it but they refunded me and said I could keep it so that was a win!

Oooh I really like it, smells like a creamy toasted marshmallow to me. Funny how one thing can smell so different to others.

MiaN · 10/01/2025 05:54

I don't feel like wearing Santal 33 offen, but there is specific mood when I want to show up strong, able, unwilling to compromise on what I need/want - and for days like that I feel it fits the bill. Pickle juice and all lol, it is a scent that to my nose scream I am though, you don't really want to mess with me.

I think the dupes like warmth or leather are softer, and don't have that same effect. Similar scents can feel completely different.

IDontHateRainbows · 10/01/2025 08:02

Mojave ghost (original) today using up the last of the mini from the advent calendar. I do love it, despite it being so fleeting. Have found a sample service doing 9ml of the absolu for £37, which is practically cost price based on 50ml for £190. So I think rather than buy a full bottle which I still can't accept spending that much on, I'll do that. Perfumista if anyone is interested

IDontHateRainbows · 10/01/2025 08:04

Annoyingly I used a very strong shower gel oil which is lingering and totally incompatible with my perfume. Have told hubby to use it up as I don't think I can use it again if putting perfume on after a shower. Totally messes with the scent!

potplantsinparadise · 10/01/2025 09:03

'Patch' by änd today - a very light delicate patchouli. Mentioned this earlier but I think I'm going to try and find a decent patchouli fragrance for spring if anyone has any reccs? something about the earthiness of it reminds me of a garden as the weather starts to get warmer.

IDontHateRainbows · 10/01/2025 11:14

Patchouli is the one scent I can't stand unfortunately. Reminds me of being 16 round at my mates dodgy older druggy boyfriend house burning incense sticks to hide the smell of weed!

IDontHateRainbows · 10/01/2025 13:02

Ambre vanille today now the mo ghost worn off. I do like this scent very much.

I've ordered the HN fragrance calendar off ebay which is arriving today, will sell most through my ebay shop but keep any good uns. Did anyone get this and can recommend? Open to suggestions especially with spring on the way maybe a bit lighter than the heavy gourmand and spicey stuff.

paristotokyo · 10/01/2025 13:04

Kayali vanilla 28. Definitely going to upgrade the sample to a 10ml. Unexpectedly like this after a couple of weeks of not being a huge fan. It's a grower

Its one of the few kayalis I rate. Also good for layering eg with more spicy scents.

happytobemrsg · 10/01/2025 14:44

Unlike December, the first few weeks of January I’m mainly indoors so I’m reaching for Tiger by her Side or Sandalwood Temple (both Sana Jardin). I especially love Sandalwood Temple when I have a yoga class like today. It’s so cosy.

Magpiecomplex · 10/01/2025 15:13

Guerlain Pamplelune today, for invigilating an exam. Light but no-nonsense, efficient, don't mess with me vibes!

TooMuchDontCare · 10/01/2025 15:23

@Magpiecomplex I love Guerlaine Pamplelune it's a beautiful scent. I bought it last summer & just gave myself a little spritz of it having read your post!
I'm WFH today & hadn't used any perfume earlier

MiaN · 10/01/2025 15:25

shobi perfumery have decent dupe of mojave ghost. Not identical for sure but OK. I have small bottle left on work and use it v when I need top up

SabrinaPrune · 10/01/2025 15:37

Sotd whatever the 4160s offering is called. Something to do with abba. Smells like a flower at Kew Gardens according to daughter. V bright and kid friendly so will give it to her.

SabrinaPrune · 10/01/2025 18:32

Strangely it’s growing on me. Smells a bit like Etat Libre dorange one I can’t remember (putain de palace?) without the jasmine.
