I couldn't see a new thread so I'm starting one!

Anyone who like me funds their addiction by buying samples/kits and selling some on - be aware that Ebay seem to be cracking down on listing some of the more expensive and therefore scam-worthy brands. I can no longer list Byredo samples which means no more buying the grand discovery kit in the hopes of making half my money back. Ah well - I suppose if I do want the kit again it'll force me to keep and try them all which is the point of it all.

Magpiecomplex · 05/01/2025 12:52

4160T's Buns and Roses today. Fairly generic light rose scent as far as I can tell through a blocked nose. Nice enough though.

potplantsinparadise · 05/01/2025 12:58

@IDontHateRainbows Oh interesting on scentbox - that might be just up my street (or my undoing).

I really like DS&D as a house - interesting how you can find houses you click with or not. I feel I mention 'Amber Kiso' a lot - an absolute beast scent but really amazing amber/woods. I love 'Jazmin Yucatan' too, I think the only jasmin scent I've ever really liked. And I keep havering about whether to get more of 'Cowboy Grass', 'Radio Bombay' and 'Bowmakers' - I guess they all lean a bit masculine/woods/vetiver, but that works for me.

TooMuchDontCare · 05/01/2025 12:58

Today I'm wearing Tom Ford Fucking Fabulous in my pj's snowed into the house!

Has anyone tried commodity milk bold? I got it in an advent calendar and it's languishing in a drawer waiting to either be listed on ebay or opened.

Yes. A friend bought me 10 ml. It's an unusual fragrance and changes a bit as it dries down, you need to give it half an hour before full judgement. At first it's sweet and creamy (homemade rice pudding is my best description) but later on it settles to being a bit more musky.

I'm not very good with perfume descriptions but we seem to like a lot of similar perfumes so there is a good chance you'll like it.

IDontHateRainbows · 04/01/2025 08:31

Opened and tried the commodity milk bold. Is describe it as spicy lactonic. OK, but doesn't have the 'yum' factor I wa expecting. Commodity seem a bit gimmicky, think I'll stick with other brands. Possibly I would have got on wire the milk expressive better than the bold.

I don't hate it and will probably use up the 10ml now but it's only just OK.

Sorry just seen you weren't that keen. I think it's a grower and if you use it up you may end up liking it more than you think. My friend thinks it's a good one for layering with other scents.

happytobemrsg · 05/01/2025 13:10

SOTD is Halfeti. I think I prefer wearing it when I’m out rather than having a chill day at home like today as it’s quite strong.

Iandhd23 · 05/01/2025 13:32

SOTD for me is Spiritueuse Double Vanille by Guerlain, the best vanilla fragrance I’ve ever smelt.

I'm about to have some liberty loyalty vouchers land which will give me around £90 credit... I'm tempted by the Durga 6 bottle set at £200 which means only £110 actual money.... don't need any more really but the £90 credit is burning a hole! If I knew when they were next doing a scent kit I could wait it out but I have no patience! Tempted to try the Durga pistachio which is in the set.

IDontHateRainbows · 05/01/2025 14:17

Scentbox do have some other Durga scents but not the pistachio unfortunately.
Lots of debaser rollerballs on ebay as it was in one of the ACs. Wish I had kept.it now but at the time I hadn't heard of them so sold it on.

potplantsinparadise · 05/01/2025 14:24

@IDontHateRainbows Ooh, very envious - have been eyeing that set for a while. Am sure you could easily sell on any of the bottles you don't like, on eBay, or to me!

I definitely don't want the 'i don't know what' as i don't get the fragrance enhancers.... apart from pistachio and debaser the others are unknowns so I will sniff and see. Oh golly I am so tempted now and the liberty vouchers get emailed tomorrow! Plus I won £25 on premium bonds today so it's practially free at this point!

TooMuchDontCare · 05/01/2025 16:08

I'm not sure about the Fucking Fabulous - it's turning a little powdery on me. Luckily it's only a sample so I don't think it's going on my wish list at this stage

CP1978 · 05/01/2025 18:00

Scent of the day, Narcotic Happy Dust and very abtly named, it made me happy for about an hour that it lasted! It's a stunning, sweet vanilla, reminds me of being at a Funfair and has a really nostalgic feel. But the performance is shocking, literally fades away after about an hour. I'm glad I've only got a sample as I'd not be happy paying over £200 for a perfume with such terrible performance. Shame as the scent itself really is beautiful

IDontHateRainbows · 05/01/2025 18:34

Not exactly scent of the day as I'd already put that on... but I was delighted to see my local John Lewis stocking BDK and doused myself liberally in the tubereuse imperiale - it's gorgeous and it was in the set I bought, had not opened it yet as was deliberating whether to keep it so that's a yes. Amazingly for a random set I like all 3 perfumes - velvet tonka (which I had already tried) and creme de cuir and now tubereuse which were blind buys. All got good staying power. May not be everyone's cup of tea as a house as the scents are all quite sweet and inoffensive -it's not an edgy brand - but the scents smell nice and last. And at £85 for 3 x 10ml in the set I think that's good value given it's a premium brand. There is another set of 3 with gris charnel rogue smoking and pas ce soir but I'm not tempted - have far too much already.

Oh I love vanilla. Is it primarily a cold weather fragrance? Or do you think it could be worn all year round?

IDontHateRainbows · 06/01/2025 08:03

Sotd is wild vanilla orchid by floral street. It's OK. Nice, inoffensive, good for the office on a boring Monday!

Probably best to leave the more avant garde ones for wfh!

Iandhd23 · 06/01/2025 11:18

@happytobemrsg I’d definitely say it’s more of a cold weather fragrance. You could definitely wear it from Autumn-Spring but I don’t think it’d do well in the summer. It’s on the pricier side but if you love vanilla I’d definitely recommend getting a sample!

Cantonet · 06/01/2025 13:37

Friedemodin's Rosee de nuit is my perfume today - spicy woodiness with a touch of green & freshness from the Violet.
Hi to the other posters from the old perfume thread👋🏼 I was on them for years during peak obsession!

happytobemrsg · 06/01/2025 13:57

Thanks @Iandhd23!!

Scent for this morning at least is Sandalwood Temple by Sana Jardin. Perfect for my in-person yoga class. Might put something else on now I’m home

SabrinaPrune · 06/01/2025 14:43

@Magpiecomplex i concur re buns n roses. Where are the buns?!

hughiedoesntfight · 06/01/2025 18:45

Hi everyone. Not been on in a while.

i have worn empressa today. I love the smell. But the longevity was so poor. I couldn’t smell it after an hour or so. Dp couldn’t smell it around the 2 hour mark. Even with his nose pressed right next to my wrist. Although I like it, it won’t be going on my wishlist. I don’t mind respraying over the day. But not every couple of hours.

I have sampled Lune feline and worn twice over the last week. That gone on the wishlist. I liked it that much I would buy it straight away, if they did a 50/75ml bottle. But will need to save for the big one.

IDontHateRainbows · 06/01/2025 20:34

Narrowly avoided temptation with the liberty scent edit box, with vouchers and beauty drop discount I got it down to £340 which is still a massive amount and I'm not confident of selling some of the larger size niche perfumes. Instead used my vouchers on 3 mini matiere premiere, vanilla powder parisian musc and santal Austral. So they were practically free. Didn't realize the minis come with a spray attachment and 6ml is a decent size.

I totally didn't need them but the vouchers were burning a hole in my pocket!

Lune Feline has been on my wishlist to sample for ages! Trying to use up some of my other samples before I buy anymore but I really want to try it as it sounds lovely!

IDontHateRainbows · 07/01/2025 08:04

SOTD is velvet tonka by BDK. Almondy warmth with a hint of lavender poking through.
