I couldn't see a new thread so I'm starting one!

I think I’d be happy if I always smelt of vanilla 😂

fivebyfivebuffy · 03/01/2025 18:06

Clean reserve skin for me. Salty skin vanilla, one of my go to scents

By the Fireplace for me this evening. Our log burner is lit, so it’s literally the case 😀

Earlier was Miller Harris Myrica Muse again. I really like the scent, but weirdly it’s really strong when applied but then doesn’t last that long.

QueefofSheena · 03/01/2025 18:29

I haven’t posted as I’ve been alternating ADP Oud & Zagara and Molecule 01+ Patchouli. I had a change to go out on NYE and wore Peregrina by Thameen

happytobemrsg · 03/01/2025 18:48

Babylon has started to turn into a yummy vanilla skin scent for me now so thinking about topping it up with Sana Jardin Tiger by her Side. I think they will go nicely together.

Ooo I’ve ordered a sample of Peregrina - how do you like it?

Iandhd23 · 03/01/2025 19:33

SOTD for me is Dama Bianca. I think it’s one of the most unique and elegant fragrances in my collection

QueefofSheena · 03/01/2025 19:49

@Iandhd23 I really like it for nights out. It’s an amber scent and quite strong, it was the first one I loved from the Harrods AC. I’m using it sparingly though as 30ml costs £180, so I'm
not sure I could justify a RP

CP1978 · 03/01/2025 20:31

Hi all, Can I join?
I've always loved fragrance but in the past 6 months or so it's turned into a bit of an obsession! I've got lots of samples and 5 and 10mls and usually like to try a different one each day but recently all I want to wear in this weather is Commodity Milk and Sana Jardin Sandalwood temple as they are such cosy, comforting scents! Going to try and make myself wear something different tomorrow though!

paristotokyo · 03/01/2025 21:00

We're away and I forgot to pack perfume. Boo. I've found in the bottom of my bag a tiny 3ml bottle I have of nest madagascan vanilla (very cute, was in a cult beauty edit) which I'm not in the mood for.. wish I had packed Philosykos! So won't be posting but still reading this thread to live vicariously through your wonderfully fragranced posts

Fraaances · 04/01/2025 01:25

I was given a bottle of 4711 Remix Green Oasis. When I read the notes in fragrantica, I thought, “Ew, I am not going to like this…” It contains watermelon and pitthaya, as well as “aquatic notes” whatever they are. They usually just smell like BO to me. (Calvin Klein everything). I thought I’d better try it last night, and I’m ashamed to say that it’s really lovely. It’s more green and woody than fruity. It will be great to have in my bag to touch up at work. (It’s a very cheap $20aud/£10 freshie that won’t kill me if it gets nicked.)

IDontHateRainbows · 04/01/2025 08:31

Opened and tried the commodity milk bold. Is describe it as spicy lactonic. OK, but doesn't have the 'yum' factor I wa expecting. Commodity seem a bit gimmicky, think I'll stick with other brands. Possibly I would have got on wire the milk expressive better than the bold.

I don't hate it and will probably use up the 10ml now but it's only just OK.

Ah it's a shame you don't love it! I adore the Milk in bold and expressive.. I'd say they are very similar but the bold just lasts longer and is perhaps slightly woodier.. but if you don't love the bold I don't think you'll love the expressive either.. I will say though when I first tried Milk I really wasn't sure about it but now it's one of my favourites so maybe give it a few wears!

IDontHateRainbows · 04/01/2025 10:51

I think the commodity milk is growing on me. Funny how this can happen sometimes. Still not in love, but definitely in 'like'.

roycroppersshopper · 04/01/2025 11:24

Samples have arrived. So far I have tried:

Ex Nihilo Fleur Narcotique Extrait - I didn't like it. Longevity not great on me. I'll probably chuck it in my handbag for days when I forget to put anything on. I am going to Paris in March and was going to pay a visit, but not sure now!

Kilian Good Girl Gone Bad - it is OK, but not sweet enough and a bit too soapy for me. As time has gone by its grown on me a bit. I'll wear the sample quite happily but won't buy a 10ml.

I went into Penhaligons yesterday and had a whiff of Luna (thought it was like Lemon Meringue Pie) and Highgrove, I like both.

I have also ordered some other samples:

HERMÈS - Barénia EDP
Zadig & Voltaire - This is Her!
BVLGARI BULGARI - Omnia Coral
Givenchy - L’Interdit Absolu
Gisada - Ambassadora

Hello all, hope it's ok to jump on the thread! I was a regular on the old Friendly Perfumistas threads years ago, and love talking all things scented.

My SOTD was Goutal's Heure Exquise, followed by a skoosh of Kayali Wedding Velvet Santal which arrived as an extra sample with the Kayali layering box. I'm looking forward to exploring the Kayali samples.

I've also been wearing 4160T's Hammersmith Tea and Biscuits a lot over the last few days as DH bought it for me for Christmas. Lovely oaty lemon cosiness.

I will have to be careful though as ime these threads are terrible enablers and I'm supposedly on a 2025 no-buy 😂 (up for swaps though!!)

This thread is an enabler! You are right, I dread to think what I've spent on just samples in the last week 😂

Fraaances · 04/01/2025 12:29

I have fallen down the Ând fragrances rabbit hole. Omg, they sound amazing! Very hard to get here in Aus though.

Iandhd23 · 04/01/2025 15:54

@roycroppersshopper if you like sweet white floral fragrances you may like Hundred Silent Ways by Nishane

roycroppersshopper · 04/01/2025 16:20

Thank you, I'll see if I can get a sample.

I washed off the other two and tried Tom Ford Café Rose and fell in love. It is so nice! Different to what I've previously worn however, I really do really like it.

I will wait for my other samples to arrive but think I'll buy the Tom Ford. Ex-MIL gave me money for xmas which will cover 80% of the cost.

How do most people buy/use perfume? I've only ever had a maximum of two bottles on the go at any one time. I tend to wear the same scent for a few years and then change.

Lurkingshark · 04/01/2025 19:12

@roycroppersshopper I’ve seen a few cafe rose on vinted fyi. I have a sample and quite like but not enough for TF retail prices.

I was reading a bit about it and it seems there was an old TF cafe rose which by all accounts was spectacular (but a bit useless now if you can’t buy it).

i have mostly have 2/3 in rotation but last 28 months/2 years this went to about 8 and now about 40(!) but a lot of these are samples for testing/freebies/advent calendars.

roycroppersshopper · 04/01/2025 21:44

Ohh I'll take a look on Vinted. I just worry about how long people have had them open. Does anyone buy from Vinted with success?

Yes, I think TF brought out Café Rose for a year, discontinued it, changed the formula a bit and relaunched it in 2023.

Wow 40 is a lot! If you want to wear the same clothing 2 days in a row, but want to wear different perfume, do you just layer it on top?

happytobemrsg · 04/01/2025 21:52

SOTD is Penhaligon’s Cairo. I think I might put it on my wish list. It’s a lovely spicy rose. Longevity isn’t quite as good as my other Penhaligon’s favourites

In winter yes, this is a bit of an issue with jumpers. I try to be careful but actually nothing has been a terrible layering experience. Actually the biggest problem is my watch strap!

I’ve never bought full size bottles on vinted but have sold some. You have to list them as new so I have always disclosed if I have tested them. Someone mentioned earlier about checking packaging carefully and if it’s too good to be true….

I went back to my kayali sample set last night and have decided I really like vanilla 28 and considering purchasing a larger size! Probably 10ml. I really thought I wouldn't go for any of them as the scent profiles leaned young/too sweet for me but here we are... I tested sparkling lychee yesterday which I really don't like though as I found it to be very synthetic smelling.

Vanilla 28 is my favourite and the only one I have repurchased. I went through a pistachio phase last year but decided it was a bit too over powering.

IDontHateRainbows · 05/01/2025 12:48

DS and Durga Debaser today. Strong fig scent. Got it from scentbox who do 8ml samples in a nifty atomiser for around £20 - much cheaper than buying it in the 10ml size which is a whopping £70.
I'm intrigued by DS and Durga as a brand/house but haven't found anything else I gel with. They lean quite strong/masculine/metallic but this one is lovely.
