I couldn't see a new thread so I'm starting one!

Armani Si Passione for me today. I probably have about 2ml left from 10ml travel size. It's nice shampoo type to my nose, but I have other perfumes of this type that I prefer such as Mojave Ghost and Chanel Chance Eau Tendre - both edt and edp. I enjoyed it, it's - little fruity, little sweet, little floral. The name is misleading as it's soft/day type scent and it's the only one from the si range I like.

Magpiecomplex · 30/12/2024 11:23

I cracked and started the January Joy Box early, so today is Metaphysic. Apparently supposed to encapsulate the Oxford Botanic Gardens, and available for sale exclusively from there. Starts with a rather nice orange and rose pairing but on me is extremely fleeting and dries down very quickly to 4160T's extremely recognisable slightly salty smelling musk base. Which I'm not a big fan of. Don't think I'll be making a trip to Oxford to buy a full bottle.

IDontHateRainbows · 30/12/2024 13:01

Matiere Premiere Vanilla Powder today. Managed to get hold of the 6ml sample size from the recent harvey Nick's set
I like it, it's a summery vanilla rather than a deep dark boozy type. Strong,so should last.
I'm so over the fade before you know it fragrances now, like Byredo. What's the point if it wears off after an hour?

happytobemrsg · 30/12/2024 13:31

SOTD is Jo Malone Wild Bluebell. It was lovely & sunny when I woke up so wanted something lighter. It’s lasting well on me (for Jo Malone) as it’s 3 hours & still going strong but unfortunately I just don’t like it. It smells too green & aquatic. I’m not getting anything sweet in the dry down. Will wash this off & give something else a try. Luckily MIL is here & she likes it so will give her the rest of my sample!

CorneliaStreet · 30/12/2024 15:36

Trying Miller Harris Peau Santal today. Sandalwood, pink pepper and olibanum. It’s a soft, skin scent kind of perfume. Pretty good longevity so far.

Hello all, hope it's ok to jump on the thread! I was a regular on the old Friendly Perfumistas threads years ago, and love talking all things scented.

My SOTD was Goutal's Heure Exquise, followed by a skoosh of Kayali Wedding Velvet Santal which arrived as an extra sample with the Kayali layering box. I'm looking forward to exploring the Kayali samples.

I've also been wearing 4160T's Hammersmith Tea and Biscuits a lot over the last few days as DH bought it for me for Christmas. Lovely oaty lemon cosiness.

I will have to be careful though as ime these threads are terrible enablers and I'm supposedly on a 2025 no-buy 😂 (up for swaps though!!)

TooMuchDontCare · 30/12/2024 20:03

Today I'm wearing Anik Goutal L'Eau Hadrian. I love this although I consider it a summer scent & dh bought it for me in paris last summer. I felt nostalgic today so decided to give it a whirl

TooMuchDontCare · 30/12/2024 20:04

Annick Goutal

Looking forward to seeing your thoughts on the Kayali scents! I’m on a January low buy so I’m trying to be good!!

paristotokyo · 30/12/2024 22:56

I went back to my kayali sample set last night and have decided I really like vanilla 28 and considering purchasing a larger size! Probably 10ml. I really thought I wouldn't go for any of them as the scent profiles leaned young/too sweet for me but here we are... I tested sparkling lychee yesterday which I really don't like though as I found it to be very synthetic smelling.

Magpiecomplex · 31/12/2024 09:55

L'Occitane Verveine today, I want something light and fresh and zingy because I feel none of those things!

IDontHateRainbows · 31/12/2024 11:10

Byredo bibliotheque today from the scent libe. Not a fan. Overpowering violet notes, something in this my nose just says no to.

Ah well that's the point of the scent libe I suppose!
May wash it off and put the velvet tonka on.

happytobemrsg · 31/12/2024 13:09

SOTD is Sana Jardin Tiger by her Side. I love this. It’s probably the closet to gourmand that I’ll ever go as to me I smell like a hot cross bun. Yum!

This evening I might put on Sandalwood Temple as my last attempt to convince myself that I don’t need a 10ml bottle.

fromthevault · 31/12/2024 14:06

I've got Kayali Pistachio Gelato on one arm and Juicy Apple on the other. Thought at first I would prefer the apple to the pistachio but now they've dried down, I find the apple quite unpleasant and cheap-smelling, whilst I'm still enjoying the marshmallow/tonka of the pistachio base.

Neither is rocking my world though, and I am usually quite tolerant of gourmands!

TooMuchDontCare · 31/12/2024 14:28

Today I'm wearing Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille which i only have a sample of but it's very nice indeed

MiaN · 31/12/2024 16:55

Still feeling off, I need to be out of the house for new years eve meal in about 40 minutes and I am still snuggled in the couch. I can smell very little, a lot of what I can smell smells really off. I am leaning towards Mojave Ghost, I need something soft and familiar

MiaN · 31/12/2024 17:00

I don't know if I mentioned it before, but Byredo hair perfumes are reasonably good quality an could be something to try if you are having issues with longevity. That's what I did before investing in full size Mojave Ghost and some say it lasts them better then the perfume.

TooMuchDontCare · 31/12/2024 21:43

@MiaN can I ask what the difference is between perfume & hair perfume please?

I have a diptique hair perfume which I've been wearing as a regular perfume & I adore it (Eau Capital) but I don't know how it might differ (or if it would) from the actual perfume?

MiaN · 01/01/2025 08:32

I am not sure to be honest. They tend to be cheaper, I would expect at minimum they are designed with suitability for hair in mind. Some are very much haircare with little bit of scent, others focus on the scent as the Byredo or Diptyque. I don't see issue using them as perfume as long as they don't stain your clothes.

Magpiecomplex · 01/01/2025 11:48

I always spray my perfume on my hair, as it avoids the likelihood of my skin reacting. The Halfeti I have is the specific hair fragrance and it's a bit on the greasy side but otherwise fine.

Penhaligons Luna today, following yesterday's theme of wanting something bright and zingy to counteract the weather and the fact that I feel neither bright nor zingy!

SabrinaPrune · 01/01/2025 14:16

Hello. I was around in Covid times under I can’t remember what name, been lurking a bit recently and rejoined to share thoughts on 4160s joy box. I am quite tired today and the only word I can summon up to describe the first, metaphysic is ‘nice’. All the advertised notes are in there (plus something like brandy) but you have to sniff really hard and it doesn’t last very long. Base reminds me of Ffern.

Magpiecomplex · 01/01/2025 15:19

@SabrinaPrune agreed, it's "nice" but nothing special, and doesn't last long.

Millymollymine · 01/01/2025 16:57

SOTD Xerjoff Naxos I love it but feel paranoid it is too maculine so as i’m not going out today (don’t know why i care so much about what others may think!!!) I have worn it and now love it more -still getting strong smells of it now 8 hours after spraying and the smell has softened and changed across the day

happytobemrsg · 01/01/2025 17:11

SOTD is Halfeti. Probably because DH wears this now, I’m finding the opening quite masculine. But the dry down is just beautiful

OvaHere · 01/01/2025 18:20

SOTD is Armani My Way that DS bought me for Xmas. I've enjoyed wearing it and it's lasted fairly well. It's quite sweet and fruity at first but dries down to be quite subtle. Think it will be a good office perfume - long lasting but not 'in your face'.
