Day 14!
Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 6% Mandelic Acid + 2% Lactic Acid Liquid Exfoliant 30ml TRAVEL SIZE
Value £35 / £11.93 (£35 for 88ml on the Space NK website)
The reviews for this are really good on the Space NK website mainly from people with acne saying that it is really gentle.
Yup three acids in the calendar. The most off-putting part and I believe one of the reasons most people who like Liberty beauty didn’t buy it. Who really needs 3 resurfacing acids? They are exactly the same in purpose and ingredients as well. There are things they could have put in instead to build a well curated full routine like the Holland and Barrett AC opening thread is enjoying. I won’t mention exactly what they could have put in as I don’t want to anti-spoil.
We’ve had:
Sunday Riley - AHAs, glycolic acid from sugarcane and lactic acid from milk. Marketing is reduce visible pores.
Votary - AHAs, lactic acid from milk. Marketing is reduce wrinkles.
Paula’s Choice - AHAs, mandelic acid from nuts and lactic acid from milk. Marketing js about smoothing bumpy skin, language around post-breakout. This page says it’s less effective than glycolic and calls it the “gentlest AHA”. www.paulaschoice.co.uk/mandelic-acid/ingredient-mandelic-acid.html
I’m not pro-peeling-acid anyway, and the only one I’d recommend is the two-sachet pads by Dr Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta Universal Daily Peel, or targeted use of the SR Good Genes. Very strong products, but I think “gentlest resurfacing acid” is a fallacy, it either works or it doesn’t, and you either need a peel or you really really don’t and shouldn’t go near them. I have Medik8 Surface Radiance Cleanse from a kit which has AHAs and BHAs in it and think that’s the gentlest and effective form I’ve tried, where you wash it off. But three peeling acid serums? It would take years I think to get through these 3 at the recommended intervals of using AHAs and I’d never finish them at the pace I use peeling acids. Which is rare as I prefer a decongesting face mask. I’m going to use them on my body where there’s ingrown hairs and bumpy skin, but only to get through the products and ingrown hair body products are generally cheaper than face products.
When judging whether to buy the AC it was hard to see past this as it is £150 worth of product that could have been something else. Fortunately I’ve been really enjoying other parts of the AC.
Is anyone feeling more positive about today’s drawer?
