I get the dreaded camel toe in every pair of leggings I ever buy and it’s starting to piss me off

I’ve just bought a gorgeous pair of Sweaty Betty power leggings, and was so excited to put them on, but there it is again. It doesn’t matter whether they’re cheap, expensive, what brand, what fabric, it always happens.

it’s not because they’re too small or tight- I’m a size 10 and I’ve bought a high waist pair in medium, they’re actually a tiny bit baggy at the knees. I’m wondering if it’s because I’ve got narrow violin hips but chubby thighs, so they always rub at the top.

The only way I seem to be able to get rid of it is to wear them so low that I get a muffin top and they’re baggy and wrinkled everywhere else. Is there another solution?

It sounds like they are too short in the body

BleachedJumper · 07/11/2024 18:07

Have you tried different underwear/no underwear?

CroysantNotKwason · 07/11/2024 18:07

Search 'camel toe concealer' on Google and it will come up with knicker insert products to hide it.

LoudSnoringDog · 07/11/2024 18:12

I get this with every item of clothing. I thought it was just because I've got a "fatty mound"' 🥴🥴

DaemonMoon · 07/11/2024 18:13

Tape it up?

AngeloMysterioso · 07/11/2024 18:22

It’s really beginning to get me down. On the website they’re so lovely and smooth, and admittedly the models are way skinnier than I am, but why are they so completely different on me? I see women in leggings all the time of all shapes and sizes who don’t seem to have this problem.

Try adanola Cross over leggings (Cross over on the waist) designed to avoid camel toe!

skilpadde · 07/11/2024 18:28

That centre seam is horrific... it's surely going to make anyone appear to have a camel toe. Even the carefully-posed photographs of the models don't look good, but they'd look horrid on anyone moving in them in real life.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 07/11/2024 18:30

You know that altering a photo is a thing ?

Monday55 · 07/11/2024 18:31

Try high waisted ones so you can pull them down a bit. Or try one size-up, to give you more room.

cantthinkofausername26 · 07/11/2024 18:32

That seam isn't helping matters is it! I'd be wearing a longer tshirt

Havalona · 07/11/2024 18:32

Go up a size and give that a try.

Or wear a long shirt/jumper/top always.

I’m wearing the high waisted ones in size medium, and they’re already quite loose, for leggings- hence the bagging round the knees. A large would be ridiculous. You can see that the lower waistband seam is already sitting much lower on me that it is in the website pics.

I don’t want to have to wear massive long t shirts every single time. Apart from anything else, I quite like the way my bum looks in them, it’s the view from the front that’s the problem ☹️ I saw a woman last week wearing the same style leggings and a cropped hoodie- she was probably about the same size as me but they looked totally different on her!

@AngeloMysterioso My friend is a yoga teacher amongst other things, she swears by White Stuff leggings

She has bought all types and says WS are best by a long margin- and I must admit I love White Stuff leggings and zero camel 🐫 toe!

oakleaffy · 07/11/2024 18:40

That central seam is horrendous.

£88😳

Get some White stuff ones instead
£25 the last ones I bought ( wearing them now) so comfy and non baggy.

Madcats · 07/11/2024 18:41

I reckon that wearing a pair of Uniqlo period pants would fix that (or sizing up):

The "pad" isn't thick.

Petrine · 07/11/2024 18:42

If it happens no matter what leggings you buy perhaps they just aren’t flattering for your shape. They’re pretty unforgiving garments.

HellonHeels · 07/11/2024 18:47

It's the centre seam. Makes a camel toe appear even when there isn't one.

Look for the kind that have a diamond shaped insert/gusset in the fanny area rather than seams.

Undecided45 · 07/11/2024 18:47

I wear Nixi body sport underwear under all my leggings. Mid rise, high rise and thong versions. Intended as leak proof for high impact endeavours rather than period pants per se, they're lightly padded which I find helps avoid camel toe.

BitOutOfPractice · 07/11/2024 18:54

Is this a stealth boast about your flaps op? 😂

have you got them pulled up high? Are you wearing pants??

TitsInAbsentia · 07/11/2024 18:56

minipie · 07/11/2024 18:37

Try looking for ones without the crotch seam

I like these

I second these. Won't wear anything with a centre seam it's just asking for trouble!

fashionqueen0123 · 07/11/2024 18:56

That seam is horrid 🤣 get another style!

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 07/11/2024 18:58

I wear Harry Hall riding leggings which, because they are for riding horses, have a proper gusset rather than a front seam. They are incredibly comfortable, look good - plus you can, if you so wish, ride a horse in them (this is why I bought them).
