Very excited to be creating this thread to discuss the Pelegrims subscription box - my first one arrived today!

I'm not as impressed as usual, but not disappointed enough to cancel.

Anyone still waiting?

Cactusali · 13/11/2025 21:43

Not massively impressed. Had already bought the fragrance which really doesn’t work for me. Quite a fan of the facial balm - and have a bottle in stock already -
but can’t use the bath oil as we’re all showers.

Cyclingmummy1 · 14/11/2025 18:50

Anyone still waiting? Or can we start the discussion?

Go for it @Cyclingmummy1

I think @Cactusali has given most of the game away already anyway.

It was an ok box but not very exciting as I've got 2 of the items already and I'm a shower person as well so the third item will just go into my stash.

Cyclingmummy1 · 14/11/2025 20:30

Agree with @nicnicspicnic it didn't have the 'ooh' I usually feel.

I'm not a perfume wearer but do like the perfume smell.

Using the previous bottle of treatment gel at the minute, and will see how the bath oil goes. It's a small bottle for the money.

Cactusali · 14/11/2025 21:27

Apologies for spilling the beans a bit early. And yes, blimey, it must be the most over-priced bath oil in the world! Well not in the world but who would pay that for getting a bit oily and possibly slipping over in the bath? Also the plastic bottle is a bit naff so don’t feel I can gift it. I do like the facial gel but can’t get on with the fragrance. I’ll keep going for a while as there’s so much I really like.

Fedupandstressed · 14/11/2025 22:26

Bath oil and perfume popped in my mum’s Xmas box. I did try a spray but it was minging! Hopefully she’ll like it more.

Need the laughing emoji back 🤣

HundredMilesAnHour · 15/11/2025 20:09

I’m contemplating trying the bath oil as a shower oil. (I don’t really do baths).

I’m pleased with the perfume (haven’t tried it yet though) as I was a bit gutted we didn’t get a sample in the last box as they were just releasing then.

And I use the facial gel every night anyway so I’m a fan.

Maybe not an exciting box but it works for me. Just relieved there was no tea in it! @Cyclingmummy1 will remember my hatred of the Haeckels tea. 😩. On which note, have you all seen that former Haeckels have finally settled on calling their brand Dulcie? I find it a bizarre choice.

OP posts:
Cyclingmummy1 · 15/11/2025 20:37

My ads have been full of 'dulcie' this week @HundredMilesAnHour I agree is a bizarre choice. DH said it's a frumpy, dated sort of name (though 18yo DS has a friend of that name) so not really their target market.

HundredMilesAnHour · 17/11/2025 10:01

I just tried the perfume and it was nicer than I was expecting. I think I thought it would smell exactly the same as the hand balm which always smells like embrocation to me! 😂I’m curious to see how the scent develops (or if it does) over the next few hours.

But I don’t think anything can lure me away from my current favourite perfume (Saltworks’ Tabac Soleil) that I’m completely in love with, so much so that I happily sit sniffing myself.

Fedupandstressed · 17/11/2025 13:50

@HundredMilesAnHourare you getting anything in the saltworks bf sale? I now have a 25 voucher to use and thinking of getting 3x travel sizes.

@Fedupandstressed I already ordered another big bottle and 2 travel sizes of my obsession Tabac Soleil. I love that the scent lingers for ages. I can smell on it myself still the day after using it, it’s fab.

I’m guessing your voucher is from a discovery set? My Dad’s partner gave me a discovery set last Christmas (I’d never heard of Saltworks previously) and that’s how I discovered Tabac Soleil. It has completely replaced my previous perfume obsession of Goldfield & Banks. 😆

So I love the facial gel, the perfume not so but teenage DS likes it so he has it now.

The bath oil - where to start - I'm a bath person - shower in the Morning and a soak each night - in fact I'm trying the bath oil right now.

To start with my usual oil of choice is from Aromatherapy Associates - if you're not familiar with them they come in a glass square bottle - 55ml is standard size but some come in 100 mil size as well - It's 55 mil size usually sells for £60 (I have lots of points and they do many offers so I'm usually paying 20 to 30% off the rrp). They also do a very nice "trunk" set of all the bottles in miniature which I have gifted to lots of people for birthdays and Christmas and always well received.-you can also use their oils in the shower as well as the bath.

The AAssociates looks great , smells great , makes a great gift and I'm happy to pay the price

I wanted to love The Pelegrims oil , but so far I don't because:

It looks a bit meh - I wouldn't want to gift it in its current presentation - I honestly thought it was a trial size rather than a full size

The smell was nice but I added sone to bath and no foam and not much smell- I noted that 14-18 baths are supposed to be achievable so I don't think I didn't put enough in

So far it's joining the SPF as products I didn't like and wouldn't rebut

That said those I love I really love

Cyclingmummy1 · 19/11/2025 20:20

I like the smell of the bath oil but it didn't foam.

There was a AA in a recent box i had, maybe J L, and it's lovely.

BeaLola · 19/11/2025 21:22

AA have 30 % off for Black Friday - I like most of their oils - a capful is all that is needed across torso etc fior bath or shower

The atomisers are lovely as well although they are now owned by Estée Lauder I believe rather than independent as in past (I could be wrong )

I’ve only ever tried AA with the products they give in the BA First Class amenity kits and they didn’t agree with me at all. I had an allergic reaction to one (that took several days to calm down) and the others just made my skin feel dry. So I’ve avoided AA ever since as I’m obviously not the right audience for them!

I just ordered the limited edition Etna hand set and am very excited about it! (I need to get a life I know).

OP posts:
BeaLola · 25/11/2025 13:01

I need a life too then as I have also ordered this - handwash is obviously my thing ....

BeaLola · 08/12/2025 19:01

So re Etna handwash - I like it a lot but not enough as the original , they said my DH prefers the Etna - a more masculine scent maybe - what did you think ?

Cyclingmummy1 · 08/12/2025 22:44

What do you think about Pelegrims now selling in Liberty?

HundredMilesAnHour · 08/12/2025 22:53

I haven’t tried my Etna stuff yet. I’m still working my way through a 500ml bottle of the ‘regular’ handwash. I love the colour though, I’m itching to try it but managing to maintain some (rare) self-discipline for once.

I’m not sure if Liberty is good or bad really. I guess good for their profile but I’m hoping this doesn’t mean stock issues. Liberty seems to like sticking a few extra £££ on their prices so I’m curious to see if they charge more than Pelegrims do.

OP posts:
BeaLola · 09/12/2025 02:10

HundredMilesAnHour I was lucky in that my original handwash ran out at the weekend (although I topped it up today from refillsomy resolve was weakened)so I tried the Etna - bottle colour good and I do like it just not as much

I was a bit surprised about Liberty - I hope it doesn't change things but maybe a sample will

BeaLola · 09/12/2025 02:11

... posted too soon - wondering if a Pelegrims sample will appear in the Liberty quarterly book
