The annual hunt for a dress like this that doesn’t exist

Honestly, been searching for a dress like this for about 10years… any help you can give is very much appreciated.

I want a dress that is:

Roll neck (proper high polo neck)
Maxi length- no splits
Knitted- in some sort of wool/natural fabric, not polyester or acrylic that gives off sparks
Not ribbed- you’d be surprised how many this rules out!
Black or brown

Is this the year I finally find one..? Probably not 😂

They don't have a roller neck right.now op but mudra may be worth you keeping an eye on. Cashmere and silk

I would have a look at an American brand called Peruvian Connection, which is available online ( and Vinted/ Ebay). They do a lot of the type of dress you are describing. You might need to wait a month or so until they put out their Winter collection, but I have dresses from past seasons that would fit your brief.

Work out how many times you’d wear it and put into calculations the price and you may find that works.

The other ones, if you want black couldn’t you get them dyed?

Unless you know someone who knits or has a knitting machine then this dress I can’t see someone would make this.

I’d worry moths would get to it too.

Sorry just noticed that the Poetry one is ribbed!

They normally have ribbing, especially in natural fabrics, because otherwise they'll be shapeless, stretched and baggy within 10 mins, never to go back. There's a good reason what you want doesn't exist.

Uniqlo's knitted wool dresses are sometimes smooth from the waist down, where they don't have to fit. Their synthetic dresses are smooth at topbecause they contain elastane.
