Unbelievably, I am still advent calendar-less, but I've ordered this Cult Beauty skincare edit to scratch the itch www.cultbeauty.co.uk/p/cult-beauty-the-skintellectual-edit/15508610/

The Jo Malone calendar is out, I have only bought one.

CountryCob · 23/09/2024 10:20

Still deliberating here, been a very expensive year domestically so really I should pass but FOMO is going to be significant if I don't manage anything in December. I do have a Yankie Candle one from last year's sale but that might not cut it. Are there any discounts for Look Fantastic I have missed? It seems a good deal, H&B also but really was looking for something a bit more glamorous. For DD I have the schelich advent which am about to put in the loft, we didn't get it last year so ordered last year's from amazon as its a reasonable amount cheaper for something that is not going to go off...

CannotBeBothered2025 · 23/09/2024 11:09

I've got the SpaceNK one and also the flannels beauty cracker (although it's not an advent calendar) and part of me wants another one. I don't need it but there's an itch 😂😂

MonkeyTennis34 · 23/09/2024 11:30

@CountryCob
If you receive the Look Fantastic beauty boxes, you get £10 off.

I recently started subscribing at £13 per month and was pleased with my September box.

outdamnedspots · 23/09/2024 11:36

I have gone for the £100 Look Fantastic one. Going to share it with dd! It looks great.

virgocatlover · 23/09/2024 11:37

You can get 15% off the Cult Beauty advent calendar with code CBAFF15. That brings it down to £211.50.

Wow, it’s very early to start discounting. I must remember that for next year. That’s a very good price.

Gosh, I remember a few years ago when the Cult Beauty one would be sold out on its first morning of release!

Still waiting for my Space NK to be dispatched

Wasn't that impressed with Cult Beauty this year tbf.
I think only Space NK has really hit the mark for me although there's still time. I've got my eye on the HN fragrance box - shame it's 12 days not a full calendar - wish they would just release it now they have released the AC, maybe they are staggering it in the hopes some will buy both

OvaHere · 23/09/2024 13:27

Just seen that Shiseido have opened their waitlist. It's £172 but only one item above 30ml but if it's a brand you really like it might be worth it.

I think out of the cheaper end of calendars the LF one is probably the best value for what you get. Not that £100 is cheap but comparatively to Space NK etc.

IlovePond · 23/09/2024 14:02

Thanks for the info @psuedocream3 - and for mentioning the molecule stuff - I will knock that off my items of interest list, now that I know it’s similar in concept to the SpaceNK offering.

outdamnedspots · 23/09/2024 14:51

@OvaHere - yes, and such a wide range of products!! So I'll have the ones that are more suited to my skin and dd can bagsy the make-up, Bum Bum cream and powder puffs!

Twinsandsome · 23/09/2024 14:58

I’ve still not got my space nk either it’s saying 7 October now. I ordered on 10th sept x

I contacted them last week and they had a link on their help page saying if you ordered on the 10th it would be dispatched on the 24th. I haven't checked since, as I'm happy to give them some time, but if it hasn't been dispatched by Wednesday I'll be contacting them again.

loropianalover · 23/09/2024 16:08

i started my own thread but probably better to ask here - has anyone any opinions on Diptyque advent calendar? Have you got one in the past and been happy with what was in it for the price?

it’s a small bit more expensive than I had made up in my mind, but I do love their scents. I don’t burn candles daily so I’m confident the contents of the calendar would last almost the year, plus you get some fragrances etc too.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 23/09/2024 16:09

Jo Malone calendar due to arrive tomorrow. Shock
That one's a sell out every year so SpaceNK - take note!

JudgeBurrito · 23/09/2024 16:33

@loropianalover I'm torn. It is very expensive, and I'm not a lover of a mini candle. I never find they have the same scent throw, although - disclaimer - I haven't tried the Diptyque minis. Personally if I was spending that much money on Diptyque I'd prefer to get this EDT set and a few full size candles of my choosing. But, if you want the advent calendar to open as a calendar and for the fun element, it's actually not bad value for money considering the price of the mini candles to buy, and the fact you're getting some EDP.

AprilLady · 23/09/2024 16:43

@loropianalover I tend to agree with @JudgeBurrito . Every year I think maybe this is the year I will buy one of Jo Malone, Jo Loves or Diptyque, and every year I decide it just doesn’t seem worth it for the price - it’s essentially a perfume discovery set and then bits; small candles, mini body lotions, mini shower gels etc.

If I was buying from Diptyque I’d be tempted by this https://www.diptyqueparis.com/en_uk/p/set-of-5-eaux-de-parfum-les-essences-de-diptyque.html
it’s a discovery set of their recently launched new fragrances. I could then also buy a couple of full size candles and still have change relative to the price of the calendar. But you do miss the excitement of a high end calendar to open.

Set of 5 eaux de parfum - Les Essences de Diptyque | Diptyque Paris

Five treasures of nature. This set contains Les Essences de Diptyque (The Essences of Diptyque): a collection of exclusive fragrances with lingering sillages.

Doubleraspberry · 23/09/2024 16:55

I've had the Diptyque calendar. It's beautiful and feels very luxurious. The fragrances are lush and the size of them means they last a decent amount of time. The cons are that several drawers are tree ornaments, and the 'oh, another mini candle' does feel a little repetitive. And, much as I hate to say it, you don't get a massive amount of scent from the minis as they burn. OK in a small room (I have them in my bathroom) but they wouldn't do a larger space.

CocoMascara · 23/09/2024 17:03

I’m also always tempted by the Diptyque, but often get the Christmas/gold bottle version of the perfume in their Christmas range and a couple of their xmas candles instead. The small advent calendar candles you can often pick up on Vinted if there’s a particular scent you want to try. That said, if money was no object, I’d buy it without doubt!

Thanks for this. Anyone know if you can get NHS discount on the shiseido calendar? And do they normally sell out?

I'd agree that these discovery sets are brilliant value. Penhaligons outlet do a similar one at a similar price (eight fragrances but slightly smaller I think). The other thing I got in the calendar which I really loved was the solid perfume. It's really long lasting. I would buy that again.

loropianalover · 23/09/2024 17:14

@JudgeBurrito @AprilLady @Doubleraspberry @CocoMascara thank you all so much for sharing!

I’ll mull it over this evening, a lot of YouTube comments seem to lean towards ‘not worth it’ for the quite hefty price tag. Seems inconsequential but if they even knocked off 50/60€ feel like I’d snap it up! Something about the price in euros is putting me off… I could always buy in £ and act like it’s not the same. 🤣

I put mini’s in the en suite for bath time or in my dressing room, so both small rooms. I’m really looking for some luxury/fun that I can look forward to every evening so that’s what’s really tempting me.. I’ll have a proper browse this evening to see if anything else takes my fancy. I’m too picky about skincare and beauty so lean towards candles/Homeware etc… if I find something amazing I shall share here :)

They do the key worker discount which includes NHS (scroll to footer of the page). It's not Blue Light, it's Geocertify - you have to send them a photo of your ID card but approval is quite fast.

Offer is 15% off or 20% over £70. A lot of the time advent calendars are excluded from these discounts on many sites though.
