What colour fascinator, shoes & bag with this dress?

Am going to a wedding in a few weeks and have just bought this dress. It's a very dark teal. Not sure what colour to put with it? I'm early 50s and grey haired. Was thinking maybe gold shoes and bag and a gold/teal fascinator? Any thoughts would be great!

Good

Sorry that should say gold!

sidsgranny · 10/08/2024 13:25

Thank you @MoonAndStarsAndSky. I'm not normally a gold person but think it might work. Do you think the fascinator looks ok and not too yellowy?

Silver or gold depending which suits you better, maybe silver if you have grey hair?

Or you could go for a pale blush pink

Garman · 10/08/2024 14:22

Nobody really wears that style of fascinator anymore just fyi.

coldcallerbaiter · 10/08/2024 14:25

The dress says teal. Looks black on the screen. Metallics seem a good idea, maybe a muted bronze. Depends on if you are a gold or silver jewellery person. They would need to match each other.

Thanks @Garman - what sort of fascinators do people wear now?

None, or hairbands, or more hat based things than the sinamay twists and all that.

Juniorjunior · 10/08/2024 15:24

Magenta goes well with teal.

autumn1610 · 10/08/2024 15:40

Don’t wear one they are so aging. I was at a wedding recently and they just look so dated

Droolylabradors · 10/08/2024 15:44

Agree with pps. Wear a wide headband or a proper hat. I've even got my mid 70s mum to stop wearing them.

Or I know someone who twists their hair into a low bun and puts a small fresh rose /similar flower in for weddings. It looks stunning.

Droolylabradors · 10/08/2024 15:45

The dress is beautiful though. With gold shoes and bag it will look amazing.

longdistanceclaraclara · 10/08/2024 15:53

Agree no to a fascinator!

I'd be tempted by pink, and I wouldn't match the bag / shoes and whatever you put on your head. Maybe pink shoes and silver headband

luckylavender · 10/08/2024 16:18

Headband all the way.

BCBird · 10/08/2024 16:57

I wore a fascinator of a similar style at my friend's wedding and felt great. Hats not good for me

BetteLaSwet · 10/08/2024 17:07

Love that dress OP. I was looking at it myself the other day.

I think it’s so elegant already, I’d just go for some really nice gold shoes and not worry about anything hat-ish.

LoneHydrangea · 10/08/2024 17:08

Those Amazon fascinators are absolutely gopping. No-one wears horrors like that.

Gingertam · 10/08/2024 17:15

Agree with the above, fascinators are very dated now. I'd wear a hat if I really wanted something on my head. The dress is beautiful though and doesn't need anything else. Pair with some gold shoes.

Clarinet1 · 10/08/2024 17:15

I was thinking a contrast like maybe shocking pink.

I laughed when the link opened 😄

KeyboardMash · 10/08/2024 17:18

We were at a wedding two weeks ago and I'd say roughly half the women has on fascinators. Mix of styles. I don't really like that Amazon one myself, but it absolutely wouldn't have looked out of place - and if it's "dated" so were a good chunk of the guests!

That would be my suggestion too
