I hate dresses, so I really want some sort of pantsuit or jumpsuit. But it's going to still be fairly warm (September) so I don't really want to wear a jacket. I'm a size 18, would this be appropriate?

She picked a trouser suit- so why is everyone fixating on jumpsuits?

There's another thread called "is it just me"- clearly it's just me on here but this thread has a collection of the most god awful outfits (JudgeBurrito's and the OP's excepted) I've seen in a very long time.

Josette77 · 29/07/2024 22:18

Why is everyone saying it's for tall thin women? I don't see why a size 18 couldn't rock it?

I'm 5'4, thin with curves and would wear that.

No dress is going to make me look like Karlie Kloss without leg extensions.

Op, it's way too light in colour but you'd look great in it.

Hands up- I didn't, but thank you for saying that.

I've got this jumpsuit, it's so elegant:

The colour wouldn't have bothered me at my wedding, if you show it to the bride and she's happy with it and you like it on go for it!

If not, or this thread has changed your mind, phase eight has some lovely occasion jumpsuits.

I was just going to suggest that OP would be better off asking the bride than a bunch of random strangers on MN who have an attack of the vapours at someone wearing something white at a wedding (it doesn't look white to me anyway, and it doesn't look bridal). Such old fashioned views on here.

My exMIL wore cream at my wedding, and so did I (and she knew what colour my dress was as she made it). I couldn't have cared less.

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 30/07/2024 07:41

The problem with jumpsuits is that no one ever checks the back view .. and it is usually like two puppies fighting in a floral bag Blush

Cas112 · 30/07/2024 10:19

It's to light and it's just something you would wear on the evening of a holiday

Tatare · 30/07/2024 10:27

It's not white, it's obviously cream, I think it would look great with the jacket @C0rdeliaChase, and 'suitable'.

I guess only you know if the bride is a 'no-one should wear a light colour trouser suit at my wedding' kind of maniac that you find on MN...

Tatare · 30/07/2024 10:33

I honestly did not care a thing what colour people wore at my wedding. I wore a vintage Dior blue dress. Even if someone had turned up in a huge white meringue it would not have bothered me!

As I was the one getting married and I knew everyone there I'm not sure how a woman in a cream suit could have been mistaken for me...

sweetpickle2 · 30/07/2024 11:59

Some of these replies!

When I got married my MIL wore plain black trousers and a sequin t-shirt- she was a size 26 and not comfortable in dresses or formal clothes- and my mum, a size 18, wore off white. The world kept turning.

The outfit you like is lovely OP, if the bride is okay with it then wear what you're comfortable in.

Spinet · 30/07/2024 12:05

I have the black one of these Wonderland jumpsuits. Am fatter than you and it looks great; it's very stylishly cut. The blue might be nice (or red if you are not your husband's affair partner. JOKE).

V rude of people to tell OP what she shouldn’t be wearing as a size 18! She wears what she feels good in.

My eyes are aching from rolling at the “I’m only a size 10 and even I wouldn’t
wear that”… Maybe you’ve got an undernourished face like a bag of spanners love, and don’t look good in anything so there’s that 🙄

Agreed with your first sentence, but body shaming isn't acceptable whether it's directed at a size 18 or a size 10. Not to mention that size 10 would generally be within the healthy BMI range, so hardly undernourished.

There are some much more elegant jumpsuits out there and it’s far too light in colour.
for example

nit there are lots more

Thats lovely

True, with the exception of this. I found it looking for wedding jumpsuit ideas for the OP. No one of any size should wear this. Ever. It’s a banana split not a jumpsuit.

I'd avoid white/ivory or cream at a wedding

StormingNorman · 30/07/2024 13:51

Too white and too casual.

SlidingDoors1 · 30/07/2024 14:43

Oh god why are you choosing white?

It really sends a message when guests do that

Ah, so thats why they take the superior high ground. In future, perhaps people should say yeah I wouldnt wear that and I’m a healthy BMI. 😂🙄

Too white. This would be scandalous.
