I hate dresses, so I really want some sort of pantsuit or jumpsuit. But it's going to still be fairly warm (September) so I don't really want to wear a jacket. I'm a size 18, would this be appropriate?

Any good ?

LoneHydrangea · 29/07/2024 21:02

It’s a no from me. Size 18 and sleeveless? I can’t think that’d be good. Plus way too casual.

Being a size 18 does not stop one from showing one's arms. The world will keep turning.

Omlettes · 29/07/2024 21:10

Its a great outfit but tbh for your size it might not work

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 29/07/2024 21:13

JudgeBurrito · 29/07/2024 20:34

I don't think it's too casual, especially with a jacket for the ceremony, but the colour is a no no. I'm surprised you even have to ask. What about this?

JudgeBurrito You're still leading the field by a considerable margin.

How about something like this? The embroidery makes it 'special occasion' and I think it would look great on a curvy figure https://www.monsoon.co.uk/rori-embroidered-jumpsuit-in-sustainable-viscose-6404420753.html?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw-5y1BhC-ARIsAAM_oKmDyQc2baFFbBC1NshDs-8lgzjXsBhv0sijoKhawsXwJPKIFabXpaQaAn6tEALw_wcB

Edited

That's nice .

And sorry OP but I'm with others on the white trousers & waistcoat .

Myfirstbornisacollie · 29/07/2024 19:51

That's nice too

pictoosh · 29/07/2024 21:23

No. That Monsoon one is just...no.

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 29/07/2024 21:29

@C0rdeliaChase someone who is size 18 should not even consider wearing that outfit!! think you really need a dress and hat for this wedding!

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 29/07/2024 21:34

Max Mara (who don't agree a size 18 shouldn't wear a trouser suit)

Thank you all so much for the links and suggestions. I'm going to have a proper look at all the links now. I did think maybe it was wishful thinking that it may work. 😂 I've been looking for something for bloody ages!

I'll probably be back in a bit asking for more opinions on other outfits.

What absolute bollocks.

hattie43 · 29/07/2024 21:36

No not appropriate.

Survivingnotthriving24 · 29/07/2024 21:37

The colour wouldn't have bothered me at my wedding, if you show it to the bride and she's happy with it and you like it on go for it!

If not, or this thread has changed your mind, phase eight has some lovely occasion jumpsuits.

I won't be wearing a dress and I definitely won't be wearing a hat!

I suggest going on the Debenhams website. They do many brands and have a lot of nice jumpsuit styles.

I would personally steer away from cream or ivory.

FeralNun · 29/07/2024 21:51

Seconding phase eight for a jumpsuit. I had a navy sleeveless one, and wore it with a silk maxi coat from Shibumi. I’m an 18 and it looked great.

Sorry no links but you can google Shibumi (some of the prints and styles are old school, but the maxi coats are utterly beautiful).

ChampagneLassie · 29/07/2024 21:52

im a 10 and I wouldn’t wear this as I think it would make me look large, colour too pale, overall look like odd workwear. And too causal. The only people I think would look good in this is slim teenagers worn as seperates not together

Saschka · 29/07/2024 21:54

Hatty65 · 29/07/2024 16:01

I think you need to be tall and willowy to carry that off, to be honest. I'm a size 18 too and that would do me no favours.

Same - I’m not an 18 (size 10-12 but with big thighs) and that would make me look like the back end of a bus. Unless people use the word “lithe” around you a lot, I’d skip it. You need long limbs.

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 29/07/2024 21:55

Not appropriate at all OP, sorry. Too light/see through and quite casual. I don’t think it would be very flattering, wouldn’t touch it myself as a short size 12.

how about this? And get the legs taken up as needed / wear heels www.nobodyschild.com/products/green-puff-sleeve-jumpsuit?variant=44171481284779&_fd=0&pb=0

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 29/07/2024 22:03
