Marc Jacobs tote bag

What do you think about the Marc Jacob’s tote bag. Are they a bit chavvy or are they tasteful. My normal bag of choice is the Mulberry Alexa but I’m after something a bit lighter to take on holiday.

The R&B ones have no appeal as far as I'm concerned. The MJ one is fine apart from the writing.

I've bought one in khaki for work. Couldn't care less if they are considered chavvy, it's practical.

But so many lovely and cheaper bags out there that are practical ..,,why would you wanna look like a chav? 🤷‍♀️

If I look like a chav, then that's your opinion. To me, it's just a bag that I use for work purposes, I like the colour, and I like the shape and size and the fabric.

Good thing we don't all like the same shit, eh, or the world would be boring.

I wouldnt go wild for it but i think its fine...

I go to royal corales Hotels a lot and they give me a jute totes type thing for free when i stay. i quite like them they are similar to these lulu guiness bags but natural colour

For that money I'd rather just use a free hotel tote on holiday (or get a £12 waitrose one) and buy a nice bag for general day use.

I love aspinal camera bag and celine trio type bags.

I don't like obvious logos, plus loads of fakes around. If the looky looky men are selling it you know it's naff

If that's all you use it for, then why spend so much? I have very similar bags from M&S or Waitrose for £10 and I thought that was expensive!

Spending £200ish on that screams rip off to me.

I always assume those are fake like the YSL ones and the LV totes.

I didn't spend anywhere near £200 - it was reduced in the sale and I have a friend who got me a discount on it.

I have bags from M&S, they aren't what I wanted or needed for lugging my computer around (not a laptop, a computer).

There's lot of fixation on the brand and logo and how "chavvy" the bag is, completely ignoring the fact that, aesthetics aside, it's a very well made, durable bag.

Also - and here's a crazy notion - I can spend my money how I like 🙀

I'm definitely not a chav and I have one 😂 I really like it, my baby is coming out of the needing a billion bits stage and it can hold everything we both need as well as my older DD's water bottle/brush and body spray. I'm pleased with it but I have had it for 18 months now so they might be getting a bit dated not that that would bother me personally x

I love mine - I have the larger one in black canvas. It’s sturdy and it’s my go to carry on whenever I fly as it’s so roomy.

These totes are not chavy (which is a horrible word tbh), they're just not very stylish. They're basic, incredibly overpriced and the money would be better spent elsewhere. I can't help but feel with this range, Jacobs is laughing not only all the way to the bank, but at those who are buying them.

Such a shame really, once upon a time, Marc Jacobs used to design and make the most incredible and covetable bags.

It’s ugly has no particular style or nice aesthetic features. Titus an over priced canvas bag with leather trims. Conspicuously branded so folk know you paid too much. Problem with over branded items is you’re paying too much for conspicuous branding
