Cheeeaaaap wedding dress help!

Please help me, I'm going dress blind. I'm on a serious budget - max £200, ideally less. Size 10, 5'9, 35 years old and not huge boobs (and what I have are going to need some help - thanks breastfeeding). I want something I can move around in without being too constricted or tripping over it. I really like this but it's sold out in my size. I like a floaty sleeve and don't like high necks. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Have you looked on John Lewis website? Monsoon

MotherOfCatBoy · 24/07/2024 19:25

Have you thought of going vintage? How much time do you have to look around?
I believe Oxfam online do wedding dresses.

MotherOfCatBoy · 24/07/2024 19:27

Or try regular shops as per the Monsoon comment and look for white summer floaty dresses - maybe search for beach/ lace (like broderie anglaise)? What I mean is, go sideways and look for a really nice white dress that doesn’t have “wedding dress’” on the price tag.

shellyleppard · 24/07/2024 19:27

Try Facebook marketplace or charity shops??? Good luck 🍀 🤞

TheHuntSyndicate · 24/07/2024 19:28

Secondhand is the way to go.

PerspicaciaTick · 24/07/2024 19:31

I was going to suggest John Lewis too and not just the bridal wear. They have some dresses reduced and brands like Ghost have some very pretty white dresses.

TheHuntSyndicate · 24/07/2024 19:32

Same dress on Amazon U.K.

Monsoon sale - mine was £135

blackrabbitwhiterabbit · 24/07/2024 19:33

Christ, please don't use this company.

Springadorable · 24/07/2024 20:14

@Justhereforthechristmasthreads thank you! The first one is particularly lovely.

I have been looking on vinted but I find it incredibly tricky to visualise what a dress on a hanger will look like on. I'm keen to avoid Shein but some of those styles are great.

Good idea on looking for white dresses under a different heading! Will have another trawl!

Thank you all. If you do see any more please send them my way!

Oxfam have a specialist wedding dress shop

TaylorSwish · 24/07/2024 22:46

My local charity shop has beautiful dresses for £150ish. I wish I knew when I got married I never would have bought a new one!

IBroughtTheBunny · 24/07/2024 22:53

My mum got her mother of the bride dress from JJ’s House and it was beautiful. The service & delivery was amazing also!

NiceNiche · 24/07/2024 22:58

The dress you listed has a very low back, if you are going to need a well fitting bra to enhance whats already there then this may not be the dress for you.

In our small market town we have a charity shop that has a whole floor devoted to weddings, suits, dresses, everything you could need. Also in another charity shop they had two white Ghost dresses this week, one still had the original tag in it, it was only £40, absolute stunning. I would suggest you look around locally to see what you can find.

Please don’t use Shein if you can avoid it, especially for your wedding dress.
Good luck, I hope you have a wonderful day.

Have you looked on ASOS they do wedding dresses

InfoSecInTheCity · 24/07/2024 23:14

Coast have a wedding dress selection too if you haven't looked there.

Snackarooney · 24/07/2024 23:15

Asos have a good selection.
I know this isn't like what you asked for but from the link you can search the others I'm just a suckered for a tulle skirt and want to remarry to wear one again.

I got my dress off jjs house and it was perfect didn't have much choice when the place I'd bought mine went bust during lockdown 🤦‍♀️ absolutely loved it though. I know you're size 10 but also search the plus size section because it's just what will suit bugger bodies but they do any dress in any colour and size. Even the dresses that aren't classed as bridal. If you like one then order it in white / ivory.
