Wedding outfit for reluctant teen

Would love some ideas for my 17 year old daughter to wear to a family wedding. She thinks she needs to wear a dress as the other teen girls will be (including her sister). The others are all wearing pale blue or green maxi fitted bodycon dresses. She has an hourglass figure and it is very difficult to find styles that suit her. Anything that fits her round the waist does not fit her bust or hips. It is this Saturday. She is very reluctant to look or go shopping and I am feeling stuck.
Any ideas would be gratefully received. Thank you

@Bohoboo I have this dress in a size 10. I can't wear it because my boobs are too small and don't fill it (32c/d). I would happily post it if you thought it was suitable.

No, we haven't missed this girl's age. Since Bravissimo stopped doing clothes, having G cup tits means that you wear what fits and you're grateful that you found anything that does fit and is remotely suitable for the occasion. "It's not my style" and "it's too old/young for me" are phrases that large-busted women and girls do not get the luxury of uttering.

Very true and it is very sad.. Thank you for understanding

That is such a kind offer. Unfortunately not what she would go for but am very touched

Everyone’s ’big-boobed’ style is different. Wrap dresses look awful on me. But statement sleeves work as they detract from the boob area. As do short skirts.

OP, I am sure you do this already but when looking at clothes do use language about ‘flattering’ her legs or ‘showing off’ her shape. Don’t use negative terms like hiding your boobs or won’t look good on you. I had a very negative self image because of my large boobs and I wish I had a mum who made me feel positive about myself.

This kind of thing from Warehouse would have worked for me. Big boobs, but I was also short and petite.

What about Jolie Moi? Not normally associated with your dd’s age group they’ve recently upped their game. I am not large breasted but I find bust sizes on the cross over dresses are quite ample on me. As they’re stretch (5% elastane) I was thinking perhaps going up a size wouldn’t be noticeable. They don’t have maxi bodycon. But something like this maybe? In stock and can be delivered tomorrow. Don’t buy from Jolie Moi direct though as they can take over a week to come.

A lot of retailers have taken to drop shipping from 'concession partners'. Debenhams do. So do be careful where you order from.

PrinciCrackers · 23/07/2024 08:17

Oh just seen it has to be blue or green?

PrinciCrackers · 23/07/2024 08:21

She should not rule out a skirt like this, with a top that flatters her. In white, black or a strong green.

And definitely buy from a ‘young’ shop. She will feel frumpy otherwise.

Another satin skirt

I will stop now! But a lovely white top with this kind of skirt and gorgeous shoes and jewellery could look lovely on her.

I love minipies' asos one. I've got E boobs and a small back size and I'd be able to wear that because of the cups.

PrinciCrackers · 23/07/2024 08:44

I think when you are an unconventional shape, you have to treat yourself more with statement shoes, jewellery and bags. That’s always been my excuse anyway ;-)

Good luck OP. I have an 18y with an unusual shape (very low weight) so know all about self-consciousness and having my suggestions thrown back in my face…

GoldFrame · 23/07/2024 08:45

Quiz has loads of frocks, and is approved of by teens.

does she like short skirts, or not? she could also get a strapless bra: I’m ancient with huge boobs and have one that’s effective enough under dresses

PrinciCrackers · 23/07/2024 08:50

I find it interesting to see how different people deal with their big boobs. Some of the recommendations here make me wince because they would not work with my GG boobs. No fitted bodice for me, I could not deal with a waist. And have never found a strapless bra that fits. But for others it works!

We're not just talking about big boobs though, OP's DD has an hourglass figure. That's a different proposition to big boobs and slim hips, for example.

Also have a look on ASOS who do next day delivery so you could order a few. I put in ruched dress and looked for ones with stretch so they can accommodate curves.

Or this which comes in lots of colours. I like the one with cherries.

o hope you get sorted. It is tricky, as fuller bust ranges are often rather matronly or code for large in general .
