Created with my eyes shut as I'm impatiently waiting for my box!

I’ve not opened my directors cut yet in case there was a gwp - does anyone know if I can return something like that? I’ve never returned cosmetics or toiletries anywhere - they are unopened and unused obviously.

BakeOffRewatch · 20/08/2024 15:56

I finally was able to order the advent calendar. I had to use mobile phone payment which you can’t use vouchers with and then they refunded me through a partial refund for my beauty drop credit and birthday voucher. Their website is broken! How can it not process a card payment. They asked me to clear my cache and cookies and try again!

I am so excited about my first beauty advent calendar.

These are my Drawers of Doom (DoD) if anyone wants to do a swap? Only with usernames I recognise. Or what do you think the Vinted value might be? It’s the two candles, the OTO pillow spray and Bibbi perfume I’ve circled, though since RBV video where she says she likes it I will probably keep the perfume and try it.

Please, please stop spoiling the advent calendar.

BakeOffRewatch · 20/08/2024 18:47

Are you new to the thread series? It’s a spoiler one and we’ve shared the lists of products in the advent calendar since they were revealed in June, 2 months ago.

HellsBells67 · 20/08/2024 19:18

I wouldn't dream of buying such an expensive beauty item like that calander without a spoiler!

BakeOffRewatch · 20/08/2024 19:33

Yes I wasn’t a BD member at the time, resubscribed in June off the back of @solocat sharing the contents list. PP probably didn’t realise as not obvious from the thread title, but the thread’s been running for 3 years now, so this is our fourth Christmas together.

I did make a no spoilers thread in April after we had a similar discussion but no one uses it! I don’t mind I like the discussion especially around value and how the marketing or product sizing might not be as good as it looks. https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5046654-liberty-lovers-department-store-and-beauty-drop-no-spoilers

WeAreBorg · 20/08/2024 19:59

I have ordered the directors cut thingy and a bit of make up I need to get the GWP. Very excited. Had around £60 vouchers, and what with a blue light discount, Amex and top cash back I’ve basically MADE money. Right guys?

wheresmyshoe · 20/08/2024 20:21

I've cracked and got the directors cut, Neom bits and the GWP. I've been very good and resisted most purchases this year but it was too much this time. I might turn the kit and GWP into a homemade advent calendar.

HDready · 20/08/2024 20:29

What’s in the GWP? I can’t see it

BakeOffRewatch · 20/08/2024 20:32

@HDready heres a link and I put screenshots upthread https://www.libertylondon.com/uk/ultimate-gift-with-purchase-worth-£456-R610056006.html

I just received an email from Yodel saying they’ve got my order from a fulfillment centre. No order details or shop name. The only thing I’ve ordered is the advent calendar. Are they using Yodel? And dispatching already looks like.

Nope I am not. The spoiler statement is for the beauty drop, not for the advent calendar. If i wanted to see what was in it I would Google it, not read expect to get them in a thread about beauty drop.

AprilLady · 20/08/2024 20:59

@Witsend2023 I think you are unfortunately in the minority on this thread in not wanting to discuss advent calendar contents. Most of us on the thread do want to discuss them, as many will be deciding whether to spend beauty drop credit on it. As a PP has said, it takes quite a leap of faith to spend c£250 on something without knowing what you are buying.

We are also very fortunate in the UK in that we are spoiled for choice when it comes to luxury beauty advent calendars - I’m not sure how one would choose between them without a thorough look at the contents.

IDontHateRainbows · 20/08/2024 21:11

I too have succumbed
Got the directors cut and a bitnof dermalogica to take it over the spend threshold for gwp

It offered me free next day delivery so it's currently en route and should be with me tomorrow.

I do love the liberty edits and the gwps so being able to get them together is fantastic

DaisyDando · 20/08/2024 21:15

I have also ordered the Director’s Cut, which I don’t need, but I am only human. I am giving a new foundation a go too, so let’s see how that pans out. I’ve not had a Liberty GWP before.

I shall stash the bags in my guilt drawer.

HDready · 20/08/2024 22:25

Thank you! Didn’t get the email and completely missed your post. Just placed an order

BakeOffRewatch · 20/08/2024 22:46

What did you get @HDready ?

I've just packed my hospital bag and threw in the BD contents from last box. I use Ouai St Barts anyway, I love it so a travel size was very useful. Haven’t used the Maria Nila Heal shampoo or conditioner yet - any opinions on this thread? I had a Sol De Janeiro Bum Bum cream from the John Lewis new parent pack gift with purchase. Think that’s it right. Any luxury recommendations welcome too.

I totally appreciate that it’s not obvious from the first eight pages here but the threads have been discussing advent calendar contents for 4 christmases now, and for the past two months the contents of the 2024 AC have been discussed in detail. Don’t want to make you feel unwelcome to the thread, please stay, but if you want to avoid spoilers for the AC then this thread needs to be avoided. It’s a thread for Beauty Drop members who received an email with the contents in June, and weekly emails since reminding to preorder.

Which reminds me - deadline for preorders tomorrow! Anyone still dithering? https://www.libertylondon.com/uk/liberty-beauty-advent-calendar-2024-000821246.html

IDontHateRainbows · 20/08/2024 23:05

I have a sensitive flaky scalp so had high hopes for the heal shampoo but I can't say it's made s difference... back to the philip kingsley for me.

Housewife2010 · 21/08/2024 06:12

You bad enablers have forced me to succumb! I've ordered the Directors Cut and finally treated myself to Oribe Gold Lust shampoo (I've been stretching out my mini size), so I'll be getting the GWP. I've completely cleared out my Liberty credit and vouchers now.

Primrosespaw · 21/08/2024 07:47

I’m starting to think the combination of a good kit and GWP works better than the AC. The contents have not inspired me much over the last few years and the packaging is beautiful but will just add to clutter. It might not be such a good financial deal to do it this way, but it works. Looking forward to post arriving. Hopefully tomorrow, GCSE results day (head of department here) which is always an interesting day!

BakeOffRewatch · 21/08/2024 08:38

Yeah was discussing the Liberty Says Relax kit on AC thread, that came with Dizziak moisturiser, hot water bottle, SR Luna, Dermalogica Sleep Coccon and Bamford bath oil. That’s my favourite thing from Liberty and BD. It sold out on BD pre sale at £55 I think so worth being a BD member. That was Feb 2023 and I still think of it fondly.

They do good stuff in winter, so I’ll hold out on repurchase of Ouai shampoo, I want to try Lisa Eldridge skin tint, and think I’ll get the Lisa Eldridge Sorcery eye palette for Christmas. Not colours I’d normally choose but I watched her video swatching them and that palette is party intense. s

If you actually want to shop at Liberty, the best time is when they do 20% off everything or £100 off every £300. Most of the day to day stuff I buy I can find a 15% or 20% code for Cult Beauty, they’ve just sent me a 25% off everything code. i think Liberty are doing a better and better job of figuring out why we shop there rather than elsewhere.

Though I do still think a lot of these high value items are placed at the front of the shop for a grab and run by DHs with a spendy gift budget! There’s one review for the AC already.

IDontHateRainbows · 21/08/2024 09:17

Call me a saddo, but I'm stupidly excited about my liberty delivery today which I have been reliably informed by DPD is in a few hours. Will report back on the GWP and directors cut. Feel like a kid on christmas morning!

LoveLabradors · 21/08/2024 09:51

I’ve reordered kit and some Sunday Riley juno. The gwp is a definite improvement with perfume and diptyque. A little hair care heavy if I’m being picky but with blue light card it’s well worth it. Brilliant value altogether. Wish I had reinstated my beauty drop to get the july
box too but hey ho. I just wish Liberty would pack things nicely as the used to and drop sodding yodel but still a big improvement so well done!
I have preferred kits and GWPs for some years now over advents, personally they just provide much better value for me. Cult, space nk and Liberty are my usual shopping places. I also understand why people enjoy their advents though. I might refill an old F & M one with some of my recent GWPs, as the box is so pretty.
I always thought this was a place to discuss contents freely and have been here since first beauty drop? It’s always had a nice vibe too compared to much of mumsnet.

BakeOffRewatch · 21/08/2024 10:24

Sorry the Yodel delivery email I got is actually for some baby stuff I ordered, they say they send DPD but chose Yodel in the end from a fulfillment centre - so the Yodel updates don’t have the small family retailer’s name. I’ll be a bit upset if the Liberty AC is sent via Yodel and it’s left behind a bin. Especially as I’m so slow getting to the door at the moment! It’s one of the reasons I unsubscribed from the drop in the winter, who wants to come home to a soggy beauty box.

TreesinthePark · 21/08/2024 10:32

First world problem but I was expecting the GWP in September and hadn't prepared my basket. I'm now frantically trying to decide my order while work emails pile up!
It's a good one and I don't want it to sell out but a bit sad I'm not putting proper thought into it. Tiniest violin for me haha

LoveLabradors · 21/08/2024 10:49

@TreesinthePark I was too and was going to resubscribe to beauty drop for it so it took me by surprise! I think it will sell out today though

Bimblesalong · 21/08/2024 10:59

Ordered mine too with the director’s cut and a couple of other bits. The kits often sell out fast so didn’t want to wait til later and lose it.
