For me:
Underarm laser hair removal
Medical grade skincare products
Botox (for now but I know there a shelf life )
Buying less clothes but spending more per item

OP posts:

I also tick a lot of the above and I’m thankful for them. But I wonder if actually my best purchase is my trusty babyliss big hair 😂 I have the medium barrell one and I never could do a decent blow dry without it!

@LunaNorth I’m researching this at the moment… how was the process? I’m feeling a bit squeamish, some of the videos are brutal!

Not for the faint-hearted, but not too bad. Remember, you can’t see it when it’s happening. I just take deep breaths and try not to think about it. It’s over quite quickly.

I focus on good supplements (collagen, fish oils, MSM, and others). Clean diet, exercise every day (lean with good muscle tone) good sleep and around the same weight for the past 20+ years. As low stress lifestyle as possible. Retinoids. Obsessive over skin care; only very light makeup. SPF. Proper care of teeth.

@MaitreKarlsson It's from Alumiers - you need a referral from a practitioner to order their products. It's also been amazing to use on my increasingly crepy hands!

Just wanted to say I had a look at their website and the neck and decollete firming cream is basically a retinol cream.

Which is great, but if someone is already using tretinoin or another retinol product they are going to get the same results for much cheaper.

Lloki · 24/08/2024 12:29

Can I ask how people are getting the tretinoin?

For me the Lumea has made a massive difference not only in hair growth but when I do shave now I get no irritation, which had always been an issue for me, shame it wasn't available in my earlier years, it would have given me so much more confidence.

I am not one for beauty treatments due to not only cost but hesitancy, I would like to get my eyebrows shaped and regularly maintained, but I am terrified of a disaster.

Hands down it's been fillers - cheeks and jaw
Medical grade neck cream
SPF all year around (although started this too late to avoid sun damage completely)

However I'm 49 and know that it's impossible to stem the tide on aging forever and I now need to fight the battle with menopausal chin hair which I'm currently losing 😫

@itsnothingoriginal what is the medical grade neck cream please?

AccidentalTourism · 24/08/2024 13:40

Losing weight and keeping it off makes me feel invested in me.

A hot brush for my hair and good hair products.

Lip filler.

AccidentalTourism · 24/08/2024 13:42

Oh and micro-bladed eyebrows, they changed the structure and proportions of my face.

Beesandhoney123 · 12/01/2025 15:30

Edith head book.
Tweerman
Proper magnification mirror to do make up.
Brilliant hairdresser.
Buy less, wear what suits me and looks fab every day.
No more heels

RivkaTheBold · 13/01/2025 12:19

Lip filler, Botox and staying trim

abnerbrownsdressinggown · 13/01/2025 12:33

Paying to see a top dermatologist. Worth every penny.

Preciousssssss · 13/01/2025 12:37
  1. Fortuitously - stylish parents who understood and enjoyed good clothes.

  2. A Vogue habit from early teens. Combined with a fondness for portraiture in galleries - means I’m open to experimentation and novelty and the idea that clothes are meant to give the wearer presence.

  3. Weekly veg box. (She says, whilst finishing the biscuits …)

JudyJudeplusOne · 13/01/2025 15:48

Redken All Soft Shampoo and Conditioner.

BaByliss Flawless Volume hair dryer brush (better than their more expensive Big Hair revolving one).

Lancôme Hypnôse black mascara.

Lancôme Long-lasting cream concealer.

Jigsaw handbags.

An expensive but discrete necklace, bracelet and earrings combo that I wear almost every day, which makes me feel pulled together.

JudyJudeplusOne · 13/01/2025 15:52

Oh and a really good haircut and colour four times a year. Ex-top London salon but now mobile so a fraction of the price.

Eyesopenwideawake · 13/01/2025 15:55

Giving up on the whole madness about 15 years ago - saved me a fortune in both time and money!

PrimalLass · 13/01/2025 18:21

Dyson Air wrap and straighteners

Netcam · 13/01/2025 22:32

Perpetuallydaisy · 24/08/2024 00:02

Argan oil as nightly moisturiser

Same, and a bottle lasts for ages.

MounjaroUser · 19/01/2025 21:34

I've just seen someone mention the Dyson Air Wrap - does anyone know what happened to that poster who lent hers to a friend who was getting married and didn't get them back? I was really invested in that thread - did it disappear?

The last update was despite everything it still hadn't been returned and the OP was looking to go down the small claims court.
I think the bride had let the bridesmaid use it, she had spilt wine on it and broken it.

henlake7 · 20/01/2025 12:57

Getting down to a 'normal' weight.
and exercise.....clothes just seem to hang better when you have some muscle tone!

Farrah2025 · 05/05/2025 18:47

Losing weight and going to the gym regularly was the best thing i ever did style wise - lost a stone when i was 25 and kept it off right up until i was 35 😂 😢There’s really nothing like feeling and looking your best to make everything else fall into place.

Now while trying to get back to a size 10, it’s a good hairdresser, brow and lash lamination and St Tropez gradual tanner to feel put together on the daily!

Antinori86 · 05/05/2025 19:01

Seeing an expensive dermatologist.

Dermatology-grade facials.
