For me:
Underarm laser hair removal
Medical grade skincare products
Botox (for now but I know there a shelf life )
Buying less clothes but spending more per item

OP posts:
Squeezetheday · 22/08/2024 09:22

Laser hair removal, hands down one of the best chunks of money I have ever spent. Also bought a Lumea and that is brilliant.

Decent skincare

Have plans to start Botox and tret so glad to see others recommending

MooFroo · 22/08/2024 09:39

how much are you all spending monthly or annually?

Some of this stuff sounds amazing but is expensive - just googled the steampod which is £350ish

GogAndMagog · 23/08/2024 03:36

I second the Gua Sha (loads of you tube vids)

My find is a silicone facial brush - like this one,

A minute every morning and my skin is glowing and so soft and smooth.

Tretinoin - although it's a long term investment really as results aren't instant.

Revlon One Step hot air brush thingy - means I can get a salon blowdry at home and have my hair all swishy and lovely.

Reformer Pilates - has been so good for my mental health as well as helping feel stronger and more flexible. I wouldn't say it has made me lose weight or anything, but maybe a few inches here or there. Mostly I just love how great I feel after a class.

  1. I will look into this because
  2. I agree - best hair dryer of all time!!!
  3. isn’t it AMAZING?!
Frieda2024 · 23/08/2024 07:57

Love treatments but can’t afford to spend a fortune. This is what I do:

  • Professional eyebrow threading every six weeks (maintain in between).
  • eyebrow tint at home every month
  • use Korean exfoliating cloth with favourite soap every now and again, then Aveeno body lotion. Bliss.
  • bought a really effective foot file from recommendation on here. It works so well and means I only have to pay the a pedicure a few times a year.
  • Margaret Dabbs foot hygiene cream.
  • Aussie 3 minute miracle for hair.
  • semi-regular use of green tea face mask.

need to:

  • use cuticle cream more often.
  • more effort on facial skincare/exercise as approaching 50.
FinallyHere · 23/08/2024 08:05

I keep a small tube of cuticle creme in my make up bag and by my bed, used it each night and every time I put on make up.

Losing weight

Same for me

Hands down it's been fillers - cheeks and jaw
Medical grade neck cream
SPF all year around (although started this too late to avoid sun damage completely)

However I'm 49 and know that it's impossible to stem the tide on aging forever and I now need to fight the battle with menopausal chin hair which I'm currently losing 😫

@itsnothingoriginal What is your medical grade neck cream please?

TheFormidableMrsC · 23/08/2024 23:56

I'd love to have some filler and I'm researching that now. Can anybody talk to me about teeth whitening? Does it hurt and what is the general cost? When I Google there isn't a lot of cost information.

Perpetuallydaisy · 24/08/2024 00:02

Argan oil as nightly moisturiser

blueshoes · 24/08/2024 00:17

Semi-permanent eyeliner and micro-bladed eyebrows. I wake up ready for the world.

Clairol Nice N Easy oil infused permanent home hair dye. Takes care of my grey hairs. Home job. No ammonia. Nice smell and makes my hair feel smooth because of the oil. Because I only use it to touch up my roots every 3-4 weeks, I only use half a box 7.99 at a go. Total cost - 50 pounds a year.

Moisturise with Nivea and basic facial oil. Keeps my aging skin dewy and relatively wrinkle-free.

Tepes and electric toothbrush. So important to take care of your teeth and gums.

JudyJudeplusOne · 24/08/2024 00:47

Five years ago I realised that getting my skin, hair and body looking good made my clothes look way more expensive.

Hair is expensive - Aveda shampoo and conditioner, but the best cleanser by miles for me is Simple Micellar Cleanser (I've tried loads).

For exercise I swear by Figi McAlpine yoga, which is free on YouTube:

It's literally saved me ££££...

Ruthietuthie · 24/08/2024 00:49

Also keratin treatment for my hair - looks professionally blow-dried after just a rough dry and no frizz.
Expensive but fantastically talented hairdresser.
Personal trainer for each session at the gym.
Private pilates sessions.
Seeing a dermatologist.

notacooldad · 24/08/2024 00:50

lip blush, microblading and semi permanent eyeliner have been amazing for me.

Ruthietuthie · 24/08/2024 00:50

@MaitreKarlsson, electrolysis got rid of the menopausal chin-hair for me. I had these bristly sharp hairs, both dark and white, which make my skin break-out as they pushed through. I couldn't keep up with them with plucking. Electrolysis got rid of them in just a handful of sessions. I would definitely recommend.

Margo2023 · 24/08/2024 00:58

Decent PT who had taught me weight and strength training just remarkable really and never knew I could be so strong

Margo2023 · 24/08/2024 01:02

@CaliforniaChill alright Patrick Bateman!

Enlighten (available through dentists) costs £500 for the gumshield to be made specifically to fit your teeth, and includes the shields, treatment gels and a serum toothpaste. Then £50 per top up gel probably once or twice per year after for maintenance.

Ichangedmynameonce · 24/08/2024 08:16

@Frieda2024 please can you link to the foot file? Thanks

Also, when people talk about medical grade face cream- how do you get this? Thanks

Passmeaplacard · 24/08/2024 08:43

Also keen to know what the neck cream is please
I’m 39 and currently for me it’s
Good daily skincare - been doing this since my teens. Really like the FOREO cleansing device
Tret - dermatica
Daily SPF50
Botox - forehead and 11’s twice a year
Highlights and a good cut every 3 months
Classic lashes infilled every 3 weeks

Jealous of anyone who can get their eyebrows tinted as I’m pale as can be but allergic to the dye

I’ve just got back into weight lifting and I’m using a peloton. I think exercise really does give you a glow. It also makes me feel more confident and hold myself better which I’m sure shows

Debating:
small amount of lip filler on top lip
some kind of injectable for my under eye area
Foreo Bear
LED Mask

MaitreKarlsson · 23/08/2024 23:45

@itsnothingoriginal What is your medical grade neck cream please?

@MaitreKarlsson It's from Alumiers - you need a referral from a practitioner to order their products. It's also been amazing to use on my increasingly crepy hands!

TheFormidableMrsC · 24/08/2024 09:33

@AllBlackEverything Thank you for this. I'll look into it.

AuntieMarys · 24/08/2024 09:41

IPL on legs and bikini line

harriethoyle · 24/08/2024 10:21

LunaNorth · 13/07/2024 15:43

Fillers for my downturned mouth/marionette lines. No contest.

@LunaNorth I’m researching this at the moment… how was the process? I’m feeling a bit squeamish, some of the videos are brutal!
