Politics aside, but is this hideous and not best for her frame, or is it me?^^

I thought she looked nice. I liked that it was unusual and bold and it seemed to suit her frame.

sleepercellspy · 07/07/2024 10:10

I like it. The high neck isn't for me but it's a good dress.

Are the twin set and pearls brigade out this morning? They really seem bothered about what women are wearing.

Noosnom · 07/07/2024 10:11

I thought it was brilliant. To hell with meek floral frocks. (FWIW I've never voted Tory).

Jigsawpuzzled · 07/07/2024 10:11

I thought she looked fab. She and I are similar builds and I wouldn't wear it and feel confident but it felt very of her usual style in terms of neckline and sleeves. I think she carried herself well and I felt perhaps the colours weren't her usual choice but picked for the occasion and it fitted that occasion well.

Corinthiana · 07/07/2024 10:12

I don't think she'd be criticised either way.
She wore a very unusual and distinctive dress. People will comment.

Miley1967 · 07/07/2024 10:12

I personally think it's hideous but each to their own.

Very hard to choose the right dress/clothes for that particular occasion. On the world stage but in the background like a prop. Needing to be silent and dignified. Knowing full well that whatever she wears will be talked about. Everyone knows she's rich - so should she spend a lot and be accused of rubbing people's face in it, or not a lot and be accused of pretending to be slumming it?

It's a hand made dress by an Indian designer, which is a perfect choice for her heritage and supporting a small designer of her choice. It's both modest and striking and as someone else pointed out it's red, white and blue.

I think she got it right.

Ignore my post, I think this one is beautifully put.

Cuppapuppa · 07/07/2024 10:12

I think the patterns are too overwhelming for her frame and she could have chosen something with the same colours but more delicate stripes or maybe solid

But she liked it & she isn’t scared of pattern or print.

And white shoes?

its 2024 now though Even Kate Middleton wears white heels 😱

Shut up about what I’m wearing. This is not about me (or even about her as such) but about the dress

Well it’s about style, which I think she has.

TitusMoan · 07/07/2024 10:12

Never mind the dress… the umbrella was £500 !

Screamingabdabz · 07/07/2024 10:12

The dress would’ve looked a lot better if she’d worn it with aplomb (and nicer footwear) instead of it wearing her. Standing rigid in that weird nervous way looked ridiculous - why do they make wives do this? Next time I’m married to an outgoing PM I’ll tell him he’s on his own for that speech.

Pieceofpurplesky · 07/07/2024 10:14

The dress is a little big for her / but let's be honest she is bloody beautiful and would look good in a bin bag.

And I’m wearing old pijamas right now but I’m not the richest person in the world standing for pictures, am I?

You sound lovely

Did anyone see a Labour MP go into no10 with bright green trousers? Pink hair, bright shoes?
Not Angela Rayner. I thought she looked fantastic! Really bright and different.

Was it Hermes or something?

Gowlett · 07/07/2024 10:15

Looks like a deck chair to me…
Still though, something different to the usual Sam Cam or Carrie dress or quirky power suit / statement jewellery.

grossedouteurgh · 07/07/2024 10:17

I think she looked beautiful. Very appropriate for the occasion and the dress is by a sustainable Indian label so she's championing her heritage. Not normally a fan of white heels but I thought the block heel on the ones she wore were lovely, v modern.

I have been considering buying the dress I liked it so much!

Yes I think it's a great choice. Just not keen on the high neck but that does seem to be coming back into fashion

needsomewarmsunshine · 07/07/2024 10:18

I'm sure she's a lovely person but that dress is awful. If Sunak wore the equivlant fabric in a suit he'd look like a clown.

Louise Haigh. She joked that Ariel the Little Mermaid is her inspiration

CurlewKate · 07/07/2024 10:19

What I didn't like was her standing there on her own clutching the umbrella. I thought the "optics" were really bad. I didn't like the dress either-but that's just a matter of taste. I didn't much like Victoria Starmer-is she Starmer?'s either. Also matter of taste!

What a bizarre thing to say - most patterned dress fabric would look ridiculous as a suit.

It's unfortunate than when it comes to menswear it tends to all be plain dark suits

Do you have any photos?

I didn’t like Angela’s outfit either
