Politics aside, but is this hideous and not best for her frame, or is it me?^^

It's gorgeous!

LemonTurdCart · 07/07/2024 16:22

I wonder if she had a different outfit picked out for had Rishi been re elected? Or was this one pitched for either scenario

She looked stunning. It was Vicky Starmer who looked dowdy in her red dress but as usual white people like yo put white women on pedastal and criticise women of colour when they look better.

I am white. I thought they both looked lovely.

Djthhtk9494 · 07/07/2024 16:55

Each to their own but I just couldn’t get Mary Poppins out of my head.

luckylavender · 07/07/2024 17:09

I thought it was very strange. Politician's wives like the Royals quite often send out messages in their clothes. So after what happened it was odd there was far more blue than fed. Also odd she was carrying an umbrella which reminded people what had happened 6 weeks before.

Did anyone see a Labour MP go into no10 with bright green trousers? Pink hair, bright shoes?
Not Angela Rayner. I thought she looked fantastic! Really bright and different.

JamSandle · 07/07/2024 17:12

Not a fan and I don't think it suits her.

fiskal · 07/07/2024 17:12

I absolutely loved her dress (and actually her style generally!)

soundsys · 07/07/2024 17:17

I like the dress and really hope she ditched the ugly-but-appropriate-for-occasion shoes for trainers as soon as she was off camera 😁

That'll be because it poured with rain all day and she didn't want Rishi caught out in it like last time I'd imagine . ..

soundsys · 07/07/2024 17:19

I did also think how stressful it would be to be standing there in the background concentrating really hard on making sure your face has the appropriate expression on it the whole time!

spriots · 07/07/2024 17:26

I really liked Victoria Starmer's dress - thought it really suited her and had a nice flow to it

I am sure this makes me dowdy but I don't quite get the idea that you shouldn't care whether or not clothes flatter you. But TBH I think that dress is both ugly and unflattering

Yes! Good call.

I often think that about some of the RF. They have access to a limitless budget and servants/ stylists but some of them look dire.

Preiu · 07/07/2024 17:46

I’m glad people don’t dress according to my (boring) taste. God how boring would that be!

AnitaLoos · 07/07/2024 17:51

It’s very fashion. She likes fashion. It’s a strong look. Victoria Starmer doesn’t seem as into fashion - more the Kate Middleton classic type with a North London mum edge. Both looked good I think.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 07/07/2024 17:55

She often wears outfits which are stunning, but I'm not keen on this one. She looks very odd in it and I don't think it flatters her at all. Part of the issue is the high neckline. The colourway and stripes also remind me of a Tesco "bag for life".

But I'm.crap at fashion, my dresses are from places like Noa Noa.

StarlightLady · 07/07/2024 18:05

Because your husband who made you give up your non dom status and made you pay tax has got the sack!

RestlessSparrow · 07/07/2024 18:14

I related. I felt like she was me and every other woman under 5'4" in this country these days - that's what we have to end up looking like because there is nothing else that suits us.

Might be showing my age but it gave me old style Tesco carrier bag vibes - something about the stripes and the placement of the red band

Gingercatlover · 07/07/2024 18:17

It's you!

Seen some awful posts today about what other women are wearing, wear what you want I say.

People shouldn't dress to please others.

Hepzibar · 07/07/2024 19:01

I agree OP. The dress is hideous, it swamped her and took over. Maybe it was deliberate to detract from whatever insincere shite Rishi was going to spout.
It worked - I can't remember a thing he said but remember the godawful dress

bunnybunnybunnybunny · 07/07/2024 19:08

Tbh, the overwhelming majority of dresses linked to on the board that posters are garnering an opinion on are more often than not pretty hideous, not to my taste, so it makes a lovely change to see a dress that is interesting, stylish and different to what most are wearing. It's modern, bold and photographs well.

The white shoes are great. White shoes ground the dress in a way any other colour, particularly a dark colour would not. White shoes are incredibly stylish (and usually my go-to shoe colour of choice. I can't recall the last time I wore dark footwear).

Am rather curious to know what OP thinks AS should have worn?

Good point

I think this answers my question as to why she chose it

Also the umbrella - not to protect her husband in case of rain as ppl here suggesting but to protect herself obviously (and rightfully so)

That’s so nasty. What is the need for this post? Does it make you feel better to shame another woman? She’s leaving Downing Street with dignity and grace… maybe you should try it.

For goodness sake, why can't people talk about an outfit that a currently famous person wore at a memorable event???
