Politics aside, but is this hideous and not best for her frame, or is it me?^^

I thought Larry the cat was the most photogenic on the day - dressed in his everyday gear !! BBC caught stunning photographs of him licking his bum without a care in the world !!

She looked gorgeous. I thought the dog looked good, too!

I agree and they look like such a happy family in those photos. Lovely to see.

Doseofreality · 07/07/2024 13:48

I think thev bigger question is, if you had all the money why would you be married to Rishi Sunak 😂

Awful dress, awful husband.

Back21970 · 07/07/2024 13:52

It has definitely become a talking point, I was texting a male friend just after they came out and he said ‘what the hell was she wearing!!!’.

I personally thought it was hideous but each to their own - right away I was Googling to see where Victoria’s dress was from as I loved it.

Don’t know why folk come on to S&B and berate the OP cause she expressed an opinion - she didn’t say the women herself was hideous!

Well I never got the 'dishy Rishi' thing but she does and good luck to her.

Larry the cat looked gorgeous as ever, but he would always wear fur better than a human.

Stravaig · 07/07/2024 14:00

I like it!

Dramatic, makes a statement, plays on red/white/blue, the striping is flattering and very well done. I also love that it's from an Indian designer, with a thoughtful ethos - something a bit different, instead of the ubiquitous drab pastel florals so beloved in England.

I rarely notice what public figures wear, but I looked this up, so I'd say she chose a dress that did its job admirably well!

felissamy · 07/07/2024 14:00

Edwardian zebra is the comment on it I liked.

crowgift · 07/07/2024 14:03

It was an eye catching choice, so you could see her brandishing her furled umbrella

henlake7 · 07/07/2024 14:06

Not my cup of tea....I like the length and sleeves but neckline and pattern not for me.

It kinda looks like some sort of team uniform TBH. I could see her out front in the Olympics opening ceremony, waving a flag!!LOL

Mercurysinretrograde · 07/07/2024 14:09

It’s nice enough and she probably had other things on her mind than looking like a fashion Barbie.

There's a poster on Twitter-X, Derek Guy/dieworkwear, who posts on men's tailoring. He addresses the suits/cut/material specifically rather than personalities (tho people with whom he possibly doesn't agree politically tend to get more of a drubbing). His threads are fascinating. He is a bit tough on Daniel Craig's suits and adores the King of Spain!

The Spanish Royals always look fab! Queen Letizia is always very stylish. It wouldn't surprised me if our Kate hadn't clocked this, as she also has a nice style.

BESTAUNTB · 07/07/2024 14:32

Yes, Lucia Hunt looked great. Another one who’d look good in anything. Envious!

Don’t like his politics, but I think that Rishi Sunak is quite handsome . Nice eyes and hair. But as a PP said, his clothes often look a bit small.

Charlize43 · 07/07/2024 14:38

So much in politics is about sending subliminal messages to the general public. I doubt she chose this outfit herself.

Do we know if the Sunaks are supporting the third runway at Heathrow?

Well, if a man has said he doesn't like it, that's it then. She must immediately phone your male friend for advice on her wardrobe.

Ffs, what do you sound like. 🤣

clarepetal · 07/07/2024 14:56

It's not my style, and I'm no fan of the two of them, but I think it looks nice on her and think woman bashing is horrible.

sunshinegrey · 07/07/2024 14:57

Teentaxidriver · 07/07/2024 12:40

She looks lovely. Interesting that Lady Starmer can wear a £250 jacket without criticism but not Mrs Sunak ….

My post was not about the cost of the dress and I did not mention it on the OP since I didn’t even know how much it cost. But I talked about money because she can afford anything

And I did not compare her dress with the outfit of other politicians wives or female politicians because the intention of my post was the dress style x her frame

imustbeanidiot · 07/07/2024 14:57

Please post a photo of yourself today OP, so we can critic you ruthlessly.

She looks lovely, it's a bold choice and she really carries it off.

AcrossTheOceanMissingHome · 07/07/2024 15:03

Do you not understand that people have different tastes in things, including clothes OP? She's wearing it presumably because she likes it. I like it too. You don't. And?

Do you think that when you are wealthy, then suddenly you choose clothes that are to everyone's taste? There won't be any clothing on Earth that every single person likes, so you just look a bit silly.

raspberryberet7 · 07/07/2024 15:03

I like it's

Onemoreterm · 07/07/2024 12:57

So @sunshinegrey what is your recommendation? What should she have worn? Old potato sack? All black outfit with veil? Californian designer outfit? Indian national dress?

My recomendation would be delicate patterns and shorter lenght because she is petite. That is all. If she wants stripes, than fine stripes. If she wants those colours than maybe a little more balance, or have it solid from the waist up or vice versa.

And definitely not white shoes.

Seems like the fabric / price / production is good which tbh did not cross my mind when I posted since I didn’t look into it in details - just judged the visuals

Ozanj · 07/07/2024 15:05

She looked stunning. It was Vicky Starmer who looked dowdy in her red dress but as usual white people like yo put white women on pedastal and criticise women of colour when they look better.

redfacebigdisgrace · 07/07/2024 15:09

I think she looked really cool. Stylish. But even if I didn’t I wouldn’t start a mean thread about the poor woman! 🐱

because politics melt people’s brain

and it seems like by liking the dress you show patriotism or something just because some flag is the same colour

also to some people criticising fashion choices = criticising whoever is the wearer of said fashion

ugh

Do you want my opinion? I think your styling suggestions are terrible and unimaginative. It's the limiting "wear what's flattering" mentality; which means don't try anything different, don't wear anything eye-catching, don't stand out.

Victoria Starmer's dress was pleasant and bland. Would have been a lot more stylish witout those silly angel/ fairy/ whatever they are called sleeves.
