I have never lusted after any garment as much as I llusted after Melania’s Gucci kaftan dress the day she left Washington

Peregrina · 06/07/2024 19:51

Did anyone see the magnificent returning officer in the velvet jacket, flounces, feathered hat and white gloves?

Indeed yes. Those flouncy things at the neck are called a 'jabot'. Our local mayor wears one, whether it's a man or a woman.

Myblindsaredown · 05/07/2024 13:03

She’s not a single woman, her husband is a multi multi millionaire. She can afford much more.

Keir Starmer is a multi multi millionaire?

souptalk · 06/07/2024 19:55

She is a lawyer, not a mere nurse in the NHS. Don’t fall for this nonsense.

Did you lusted after her garment just because she was leaving the White House? 🤣😂🤣

Keir Starmer is a multi multi millionaire?

Errr… How does a human rights lawyer become a multi multi millioner? 🤔

Mere nurse? Seriously.

Iwasafool · 06/07/2024 19:27

It really is. We all know how hard it is for young donkeys to get a hoof on the paddock ladder.

They just need to cut down on straw hats, carrots and polos

they just don’t try hard enough.

beatrix1234 · 06/07/2024 19:58

“Mere nurse” at the NHS? WTF?

souptalk · 06/07/2024 19:59

Nurses pay is low not lawyers, no matter where practice. Sir Starmer has his pension protected, there was a law introduced just for him. Victoria Starmer is not an occupational therapist as Labour puts it out. She is a lawyer within the occupational therapy department.

Irismarle · 06/07/2024 20:19

Victoria’s dress was nice, but a heavier fabric would have made the split sleeves drape better.
When I saw Akshata’s dress first it was from the waist up and it reminded me of the skeleton costumes kids wear at Halloween. However when I saw it full length including the red panel I thought it looked stylish. She is naturally graceful and stylish and I’ll miss seeing her beautiful outfits.
I think both seem like nice women.

Peregrina · 06/07/2024 20:30

I didn't like Akshata's dress. It overwhelmed her delicate features. It might have been a little better with a lower neckline, but not much.

LivelyBlake · 06/07/2024 20:50

I loved Akshata Murty's dress. Victoria Starmer's was OK IMO. I much preferred the gown she wore at the Japan state dinner the other day. That was lovely.

user675654 · 06/07/2024 20:52

I googled the dress Akshata was wearing as soon as I saw the photos. I agree a lower neckline would have improved it but I thought it was lovely.

Keir Starmer is a multi multi millionaire?

Keir is a self-made man who has risen to the top through his talent and hard work. In a way, he embodies the meritocratic values so cherished by conservatives.

Good for her, stylish and reasonably priced. An NHS salary only stretches so far.

what ??

EasterIssland · 06/07/2024 23:15

Didn’t realise but Angela Rayner was in me+em as well.

I personally like this brand quite a lot and it’s one of the only ones that I can order my size and feel that it fits. For a size 16 it doesn’t always happen and many times I end up buying multiple sizes and returning them all. You can easily find nice clothes for around £100-£150 which are also good quality and will last for a while (one of my me+en dresses was £80 and I think I added the 15% on top of that).

Btw Victoria effect on the red dress. Most of the sizes are sold out now

We’re discussing Victoria’s Starmer red dress and her fashion style, we don’t really care about donkeys.

You might not care about donkeys. You can’t speak for the rest of us!

I thought AM just needed the right hat and she'd look like a suffragette

Spot on! Said to my husband, that’s a very Edwardian styles dress.

Did anyone see the magnificent returning officer in the velvet jacket, flounces, feathered hat and white gloves? 😁

She was in Blyth. Her outfit was fabulous!

MidnightMeltdown · 06/07/2024 23:43

That is a difficult colour to pull off but it seems to work for her. However, lots of people who have rushed to buy the dress are going to look awful in it!

I think that she's quite attractive, but he isn't. I wish that the press wouldn't keep publishing pictures of them kissing as it gives me major ick! We don't need to see that.

Metempsychosis · 06/07/2024 11:36

Lady Victoria is her title according to the Official Rules. But it's a bollocks rule that the wife of a knight gets a title but the husband of a dame doesn't.

She’s not Lady Victoria Starmer, she’s Lady Starmer, or Victoria, Lady Starmer. Lady Victoria is a courtesy title of a daughter of a duke, marquess or earl, not the wife of a knight.

£275 is quite a lot for a dress

More interested in Akshata Murty‘s dress.

Presumably now they’re out of Downing St she won’t have to dress down for the electorate as much as she has in the past.

I thought her dress was very striking as was Mrs Starmer's.

The only dreadful outfit I saw today was Angela Rayner's outsize suit flapping round her legs.
