Beauty advent calendars 2024

Yes I know, I'm stupidly early, but I love a beauty advent calendar and I've just seen Liberty has stopped a sneak peek at their offering this year...

I think that F&M looks good, but I do like a serum heavy calendar (they say that serum is where you should put your money, rather than moisturiser). I also like that mascara (not that I need any!)

The main DoDs for me are the two(!) mini candles, the sleep mask and the pillow spray (I have so many pillow sprays that I never remember to use!).

Definitely one to consider, but will see what else comes out. I really need to not buy 6 this year as I have so much beauty stuff already!

However, I have bought very little beauty this year. A couple of makeup items that I'd run out of, a foot cream, one bottle of shampoo, and the M&S summer beauty bag (in a moment of weakness). I think that's it so far!

Fedupandstressed · 07/08/2024 16:58

Got it Grin

Not sure what to get for the main calendar now.

MidnightMeltdown · 07/08/2024 17:01

Thanks @AprilLady I ordered one. Really enjoyed it last year.

I see that their beauty calendar is also available which looks good, but a bit samey

RomeoRivers · 07/08/2024 17:17

Last year I got the Sephora one, just to try the AB cream, and the Charlotte Tilbury one, but they’ve swapped out most of the full sized products for miniatures now so it’s not worth it.

Interested why you didn’t like the AB cream?

Growlybear83 · 07/08/2024 17:22

Thank you so much! I've just ordered it 😊

Addictedtobeauty · 07/08/2024 17:31

I can’t see sizes anywhere on the Harrods fragrance calendar. Am I being stupid?

wheresmyshoe · 07/08/2024 17:37

I've gone for the Harrod's fragrance advent. Looks spot on for what I'll find exciting and hits the below £200 I was hoping for. No guarantees I won't end up with something else too but so far Liberty, F&M and Harrods haven't blown me away.
Thanks for the heads up @AprilLady

BlueLimeRun · 07/08/2024 17:40

My favourite is fortnums so far.
Liberty has too many DOD - interested to see what Cult beauty and Sephora offer.

AprilLady · 07/08/2024 17:43

@Addictedtobeauty no, oddly the sizes aren’t listed. I’ve been trying to guess from the pictures.

Scaryclare24 · 07/08/2024 17:46

If you go on to really ree website it shows you all the perfume sizes in the Harrods advent calendar.

I’m having a closer look at the Harrods Advent Calendar, and I actually think it looks pretty good. They’ve kept it at £250 as previously, but value is much higher. The AB is a retinol serum (retails for £145) not the rich cream. The Valmont product is also ££££. And the Orveda serum (which I have never heard of) costs £405 for 30ml 😯There is 10ml in the calendar. The Clarins day cream is full size and about £80 too. And these are all products which have not previously been in calendars.

Will do a fuller spreadsheet analysis when I have a bit more time.

Addictedtobeauty · 07/08/2024 17:54

Thank you for the tip to look at Really Ree @Scaryclare24 and for the heads up @AprilLady . I have ordered! It looks great.

TreesinthePark · 07/08/2024 18:12

Thanks @AprilLady I have bought it!

My manager was a bit annoying today so treating myself reminds me of why I go to work. That and needing a roof/food lol

And now to check out what I've actually bought thanks to @Scaryclare24

I agree that it looks good - especially for anyone who hasn't had Harrods before.

I've bought Harrods for the past 2 years and have definitely had the Murad cream, EGF serum, BS cream, Evidens SPF, Elemis oil, and Laura Mercier powder from them before. Also the Rodial blush drops (in a different shade) and AA oil (in a different fragrance).

That said, they are all good products so I'm still tempted!

MidnightMeltdown · 07/08/2024 18:22

The Harrods hair calendar is a no from me though

AprilLady · 07/08/2024 18:40

@MidnightMeltdown agree on the hair and body calendar - interesting idea, but the contents are decidedly uninspiring.

BlueLimeRun · 07/08/2024 19:35

Hair and body not on brand imo.

QueefofSheena · 07/08/2024 20:03

Thanks @AprilLady I’ve preordered it too. It’s my birthday this month so that’s my present to me, even if I have to wait ☺️

TheBanffie · 07/08/2024 20:11

Anyone know if Harrods sold out last year? It looks tempting but feels too early to decide!

Growlybear83 · 07/08/2024 20:12

The fragrance calendar sold out very very quickly but the main beauty calendar was available for quite a while if I remember correctly.

SoloCat · 07/08/2024 21:08

Thanks @AprilLady I've ordered too, can’t wait around with the perfume one!

Considering the beauty one too…the Valmont prime renewing pack I’ve had and use every now and then, very perfumed though. It looks better than Liberty for me, although the F&M does look quite good and such a pretty box.

JudgeBurrito · 07/08/2024 21:55

Not tempted by the Harrods, phew! I do like the Bioeffect EGF though. I think the hair and body calendar is clever, it doesn't appeal to me but I think there's a market for it.

Isabelle70 · 07/08/2024 23:31

I have preordered the Harrods perfume one as well. Hopefully I will have some Avios points too as I clicked there first.

Puravida23 · 07/08/2024 23:36

I quite like the look of Harrods . There are a few dupes for me . I could do without the Laura Mercier setting powder . I have a full size one that I have had for 18 months and is scarcely touched and the hourglass mascara and eve lom have definitely passed through my hands recently.
But there are a few new products for me the Valmont, AB serum, Bioeffect EGF and the 2 fragrances interest me.
Waiting to see what the others look like though I think. Exciting to see advents finally releasing their contents though
