Hmm, just watched the Cosmetopia LF video. She really is scathing, but I’m not sure it’s entirely justified. And I think she looks back on previous calendars with somewhat rose tinted glasses. I remembered the beautiful 2017 LF calendar and that I’d loved it at the time, as one of my first ever (I also used the box for years; it eventually fell apart).
But I suspected if I went back and looked at the contents now I’d be a bit underwhelmed, and I was right. It actually cost £79, with products worth £300. Claimed to have 11 full sizes, but looks to me more like 8 (counting a make up brush, but not a small cleansing cloth). Also had 3 hair products. Elemis cream was only 15ml not 30ml. So contents not really much better than this year’s.
Even if you totally ignore the Avant (and on that I do agree with her!) and the Foreo voucher then this year’s calendar is still £100 now for stuff with an RRP of around £450. And a few genuinely good items - like the AB palette, the Elemis, the Medik8 and the MAC lipstick - which come close to justifying the purchase on their own.
