Am I too old for this wedding dress?

Aged 46, size 8. Wedding in Sept. Is it a bit prom like, youthful, mutton / lamb?

Gosh, I'm in the absolute minority here but I don't like either of them.

I'm normally a huge fan of classic lace but I just see it as ill fitting and a bit shapeless.

That said, you are in no way too old for either dress OP.

Wasn’t that the queen mother-esque outfit?

To suggest the Queen Mother would wear the dress in the thread from 5 days ago is laughable! She never wore anything like it! Here is the thread (and dress) I am on about. And yeah it IS similar to the one the OP is on about. Yet whilst many posters said this lady's dress is 'only fit for a very old person' (which was rude!) people are saying the dress THIS OP is on about is cool and amazing. 😆

Don't say the dresses are not similar coz they are!

Yet it looked very similar to the one the OP is talking about on here.
It really didn't.

Ruthietuthie · 23/06/2024 00:45

@RedYellowPinkGreenPurpleOrangeBlue, have your had your eyes tested recently? Might be worth a visit to your optician.

Bluebonnet100 · 23/06/2024 00:48

Love the first one - classic and classy. The second one, not so much. In fact, to me, the second one looks like a nightgown.

I hope you have a wonderful time at the wedding and reception. And, a fabulous honeymoon and marriage. Best wishes. 🎂

JuliaLivilla · 23/06/2024 01:21

That dress is perfection in every way. Truly lovely.

Appleblum · 23/06/2024 02:00

Get the self portrait dress, it'll be lovely! I have a few of their lace dresses (not in white) and always get compliments plus they look very nice in photos. Congratulations!

OhcantthInkofaname · 23/06/2024 02:25

The first one absolutely not to old. The second one looks like a nightgown.

I quite like the lace dress but I much prefer the Ghost dress - it looks like it would move really well.

MissedItByThisMuch · 23/06/2024 05:24

First one is gorgeous. (And looks absolutely nothing like that pink monstrosity on the previous thread.)

Second one looks awful on the model but would look lovely on someone less straight-up-and-down.

Either would work beautifully. Would love to see photos of you in them OP
because now I’m invested in your wedding. 😂

It’s beautiful but anyone over 35 shouldn’t wear white (I’m aware that my opinion is controversial).

I am 50 and wear white all of the time, my 83 year old neighbour does as well. Who on earth came up with a notion that age is a barrier to certain colours.
The first dress is ivory anyway

Userxyd · 23/06/2024 06:01

@RedYellowPinkGreenPurpleOrangeBlue
Both dresses are lace but that's it! Totally different style, vibe even different kinds of lace!

OP the first is beautiful (second might be on too) but perhaps you'll find something else off the peg which is more befitting of the venue?

You will no doubt look lovely in it but is there a chance of being upstaged by your guests? At this age weddings are less common and given the venue guests might be well up for full glamour.

Depends on you but this is your chance to take the limelight and enjoy it- you will never be this young and beautiful again (and size 8 wow) so is this what you'd want to look back on in 10 years time?

That said it's a beautiful dress and might be more "you" to go understated and elegant so wear what you feel best in - just giving another perspective. One tip get your hair planned - I booked a stylist who I didn't meet till on the day. She'd had photos of what I wanted but mixed them up and ruined my hair taking too long to fix it as I was late. I sucked it up on the day but hate my photos now- wish I'd been more assertive and checked as she was going along - she turned me away from the mirror so I then had an awful tadaa!! moment 🙈

EvangelistaSister · 23/06/2024 06:06

Love the first one. The second one is not to my taste and looks awful on the model as others have said.

username47985 · 23/06/2024 06:20

It's beautiful 😍

Well I’d say stupid not controversial to be honest. Why ?

Crossingsout · 23/06/2024 07:43

The first one is beautiful and I reckon you could dye it afterwards and wear it again too.

I agree. The other one is frumpy - the colour, the style, the bejewelled neck. The dress OP has selected is lovely and is modern

Channellingsophistication · 23/06/2024 07:54

Love the first dress its beautiful. Congratulations!

bananaphon · 23/06/2024 07:59

The first one is way nicer. It's really modest too. Wear whatever you like and feel good in. Mutton dressed as lamb is such an old fashioned concept now. That dress isn't it anyway!

Cantalever · 23/06/2024 08:02

The first one is gorgeous and absolutely spot-on appropriate and perfect for the occasion and venue. Why would it not be age-appropriate? Its just lovely. The second one is nothingy and totally forgetable, and looks like a slightly boring nightie. No contest at all. Wear the lovely lace one and have a fab time at your wedding.
Absolute nonsense about not wearing white - the dress looks ivory anyway.💐

Epidote · 23/06/2024 08:14

No, you are not to old.
They only criticising for me is just that is not my style. If you like it go for it.
