Best solution for thigh rub on holiday

I’m going to Greece in August so it will be really hot. I have lots of lovely dresses I want to wear but have the age old problem of thigh rub. Normally in the UK I will wear cycling shorts underneath but even when it’s 30 odd degrees here, they make me feel really hot and uncomfortable so I can’t imagine it’ll be much better abroad! It’s something about being covered around mid section and then with the dress over the top just makes me so hot. I want to be cool and flowy 😂

Seems the options are:

  • using a non-shorts solution like a cream designed for thigh rub. I’ve never used them before so don’t want to rely on them. Has anyone used anything like that?
  • shorts that are designed to cool you down? I’ve seen loads of adverts for shorts designed for this that are meant to cool you down a couple of degrees. These are kind of expensive though.

Any recommendations, please let me know! Don’t want to be miserable and sore on holiday, or really hot.

I’m slim but still suffer from chub rub on really hot and humid days.

I ordered shorts from Snag last summer but they were horrible. I really don’t understand the love for them. They are just tights material with a thick seam in the middle which show through the clothing if it’s body skimming material. I also can’t imagine wearing them without underpants, just the though of it is repulsive 😵‍💫

Snag sends the tights/pants in sealed paper bags and if you open them they are then unrefundable. It was an expensive mistake.

I have M&S anti chafing shorts now, much better and seamless too.

Lanacane. Transformational, cheap, lasts for ages.

Popsy shorts are better then Snag for me.

LancreWowhawk · 03/06/2024 12:53

Lanacane is great, but I find I need to reapply. I forgot to take it with me last time I travelled anywhere, so I just used my normal Mitchum stick solid deodorant, and it worked a treat.

This is when I don't fancy wearing my snags shorts, but I also love. They don't make me hot (if anything, the opposite), but we're all different, so if they do make you overheat, the creams are definitely worth trying.

If you're nervous, maybe try it around the house/somewhere locally so you can change or put some shorts on if it doesn't work for you before any damage is done.

Wirarpra ant chafe shorts, you can buy them on Amazon, £22 for 4 pairs. I can highly recommend their knickers as well, they wash well, fit brilliantly & hold my wobbly bum & tum really well. I have bladder issues & I can use an extra absorbancy pad without them coming unstuck all day.

@Nat6999 I'd love a link to those knickers please! I've searched but not sure which ones you mean. Thank you 🙏🏻

Oops I read this as a new type of massage sorry 😣
(but I’ve learned something very useful regarding anti chafe underwear)

Thank you so so much everyone - so many great recommendations!!

Those that have suggested things to apply - from dedicated products to roll on deodorant, did you need to reapply much?

A PP suggested trying some of these around the house which is a great idea - I think I might try Mitchum, Dove and Lanacane around the house but also get a pair of shorts to take with me just in case.
