Should I I keep this dress? Help me decide!

I bought this dress online from Me and Em about two weeks ago so I need to decide soon if I should keep it. I can't decide!!! I like it on me-the colours suit me and my chest area is awful (skinny, flat chested and uneven skin tone) so it's good this dress hides that area. But is it frumpy?
I really don't know any more. It's not for anywhere special, maybe wearing on holiday or out for dinner. Tell me straight if I should send it back please!

If you're doubting, send it back...... however much you like it, if it doesn't do anything for you it's not worth the investment!

LuckyCharmz · 17/05/2024 14:37

try It on and score it out of ten when you look at yourself in the mirror.
6 or below send it back, 7 or more keep it, if you can think of at least 3 occasions when you will wear it in the next month.

CactusMactus · 17/05/2024 14:57

It's not a £350 dress.... I wouldn't pay more than £80 for it.

ConflictedCheetah · 17/05/2024 15:54

My general rule is that if I'm questioning if I should keep.it,.or I have to convince myself to keep it then I don't LOVE it and should send it back. Only keep the stuff you can't wait to wear (especially when it's expensive).

Naptimeagain · 17/05/2024 16:00

I think it's very expensive for what it is - like pps I'd expect a wow dress for over £300 - and definitely all linen or cotton.

Greengablesfables · 17/05/2024 16:03

I love the style! But the fabric looks cheap. The material pattern is ok.

If you like pale lilac, I’ve just bought this dress it is truly lovely.

Pretty!

mrsrobin · 17/05/2024 16:07

I think it is a pretty dress OP, and a bit different - I like it. BUT for that price I would have to love it!

I clicked on the link expecting to see a sack after your 'frumpy' comment. But it is really pretty! Also very expensive. I would keep it and wear it to death.

Bignanna · 17/05/2024 16:18

You can get a nicer dress for far less than that. It looks ok, but nothing special, it doesn’t warrant that price tag!

Viviennemary · 17/05/2024 16:28

It's a perfectly nice dress. Depends how much you like it. If you love it go for it if not keep looking. To spend a fair bit of money you need to love it.

Mynewnameis · 17/05/2024 16:50

Are you at least as tall as model? 5'8" ? Sorry if I missed it.

I love the style! But the fabric looks cheap. The material pattern is ok.

I saw it in Me+Em yesterday. The fabric has a lovely sheen and weight to it. Viscose and linen is a good mix of natural fabric. The viscose adds a fluidity and drape to the linen and reduces the creases.

The cheaper options suggested won't be the same. Thinking on it, the price isn't outrageous but for £350 I, personally would want a more one of a kind dress.

As others have said, when I buy something new,at any price point I want to wear it immediately, and if necessary, engineer an occasion. If a dress doesn't do that, then it's not "the dress".

pharmachameleon · 17/05/2024 17:15

@Mynewnameis yes I'm 5ft 8 and size 8. @IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle agree the fabric is really, really nice. Feels cool in the heat and has a nice fluidity.

It's a beautiful dress and perfect for someone with a small bust. I aspire to wear dresses like that but with my boobs I would look like a sack of potatoes. If I could wear a dress like that I would wear it with pride!

Pollypetdog · 17/05/2024 17:20

I think if you're debating it and trying to make it right then it's not for you. (Glares at dresses unworn in wardrobe ). Send it back

PerfectTravelTote · 17/05/2024 17:42

I've come to the realisation that if you don't love it right away you should send it back.

totalnamechanger · 17/05/2024 17:52

I’d also send it back if I wasn’t sure and it was expensive (or ideally if it wasn’t expensive and I wasn’t sure)

pharmachameleon · 17/05/2024 18:12

Thanks @HawthornMay they are nice but not really grabbing me in any way!

Oh there's far too much going on!

The high neck, the belt, the busy print, the tiered skirt, it's a meh length.

Not my thing at all.

HereILayStillAndBreathless · 17/05/2024 18:16

Send it back. I used to do this. Buy things, try them on, look at myself and go 'ummmm weeeelll, it's ok, looks quite nice, not too bad, it will do I guess, I guess I quite like it'. It always ended up tucked in the closet, whilst I continued to wear my trusty things I REALLY liked. Eventually it went on Ebay/Vinted/charity barely worn.

Wouldn't be too bad if it's 30-50, but 325 is a bit ouch, whether you can easily afford it or not, still a waste.

GiantSportsDirectMug · 17/05/2024 18:19

Fwiw every time I’ve gone for a cheaper version of something I like, I’ve always regretted it- you can always tell. Better to buy the things you love and just shop less frequently.
