Fat girl summer - let's slay 💅

So, for those of us who are chunky yet funky, what's the plan ladies?

Shall we give no fucks and wear nice comfy summery clothes or do we worry about keeping every inch of us covered head to toe in black until we sweat so hard we melt? What's the plan?

Currently a size 20/22 myself, unlikely to get down to a magical size 14 by July so I'm looking at the nice comfy looking linen pants, few maxi dresses, shorts because I'm a wee chubby pale rebel and to really go wild a jumpsuit or two.

Simply be has some lovely things at the moment including shoes, asos curve is looking alright and vinted is my best pal.

I'm 35 for a few more months and don't want to have another summer in my 30s hating my body, so this year I'm going to embrace it. Anyone with me?

I'm wearing green balloon-leg linen trousers. Made by me!

And a dark orange linen-knit top I bought in France a couple of months ago. Yes, actual French clothes, from the high-street, which fit me at a size 24.

I feel quite cool!

weebarra · 17/06/2024 12:38

I'm in leggings and a hoodie today as I'm off work with shingles.
However, the mistral skirt I've been lusting after since seeing it in a naice shop in April has now come down in price enough for me to afford it.
I'm so pleased that it's gone on sale in time for my holiday to the Balearics next week!

ChishiyaBat · 17/06/2024 13:05

Get well soon @weebarra shingles are horrible💐. That skirt is so nice too.

Soccermumamir · 17/06/2024 15:41

I'm in my favourite floaty black summer trousers with white polka dots and a light grey hoodie. Not feeling very well today and had to take the cat to the vets. So comfort wins 😒😆

Evenstar · 17/06/2024 15:43

Today’s outfit as I had to go into town for a medical appointment, dress is Marks and Spencer about three years old and the cardigan is Windsmoor from a charity shop

@weebarra thats a very nice skirt! I like that.
Hope you’ll feel better soon and back to full health for your hols!

Evenstar · 17/06/2024 15:47

Sorting out my clothes ready for a music festival, I feel good about wearing some colourful clothes, thank you ladies for the encouragement. Here’s the pile of outfits so far, will post some pictures wearing them too. Plus I have a maxi dress to wear to travel down on Thursday that isn’t in the pile.

Love the blue and those clothes on the bed look great festival clothes.

TruthThatsHardAsSteel · 17/06/2024 17:34

I struggle with these threads, I can never remember usernames and always feel like I'm missing someone out. I don't mean to. I forget by the end but here's my best shot.

Disturbia dresses - please show! I'm a hellbunny alternative type, as is @chishiyabat

The blue dress and cardy is great 💙

Love the sound of black trousers with white spots. LOVE wide leg palazzos. The closest you can get to pj's outside.

Welcome to the new user - I'm sorry about your cancer and lymphodea, it's such a cruel illness. I have a very close family member going through the exact same currently. 🤗

Love the blue skirt, made for swishing and swirling.

So I live in pj's a lot. Every day I get into clean pj's so only get dressed really when I go out which isn't often. My health isn't great so a lot of time in bed etc. So I do get excited to dress up but I'll definitely need to do a hellbunny purge. I've lost count, maybe 20 dresses?

Last night I've bought 4 jumpsuits on next. I'm pretty sure at least 3 will be either too sorry making me look like a clown , or up my fandango. I only like full length. Feel silly otherwise.

Oh, I also bought a pair of combats. 😍😍😍.
I'll add pics in a minute.

Hellbunny vinted dress, m and s heatgen sparkly top, black leggings and vinted Guess boots. I would wear a leather jacket over this and dark glasses at all times 😂

It's lovely seeing more pictures of outfits. It feels very... Vulnerable to post photos online, so I love seeing Every single one.

I've added a back pic of a black linen next dress. I seem to have deleted all the front pics 😂. It's years old, pockets, cool, midi, comfy. Nice and loose.

Oh the festival clothes 😻. I spotted the crochet first!

Enclosing items bought. The black with zip is so my favourite but it's 140 quid I think, mint velvet.

All ordered in size 18, apart from the second pic, ordered it in a 20 too. I can't stand tight waists, sizing is difficult so it's unlikely any will fit.

Edit - see, I forget stuff. It's amazing seeing people's confidence grow here with the thread. Was anyone here on the old plus size threads? I was under different names.

I love that blue! Gorgeous 😊

I'm off on holiday on Friday - in England, so not holding my breath, but really hoping I can wear my new Next playsuit..! 😃

weebarra · 17/06/2024 18:19

Not festivally, but I do love a bit of Scandi, even though the DCs think they're too old for it now. Prints and patterns. DD is ten, only wears black. DS1, 16 likes the Smiths, also black. DS2, 13, ASD, black.

Rina66 · 17/06/2024 20:02

I love a Next bandeau playsuit @MooBaggage on holiday, so easy to pull on over swimwear, I buy a couple every year, this years are.....

I've bought a jumpsuit. It is clearly made for a 6ft some thing woman! Other than that I do like it. Would need to turn it up though

BollockstoThis1 · 17/06/2024 23:38

@Cluelessaf fab I am 6ft, where is it from, is it true to size and easy to get out of quickly if you need the loo?

Cluelessaf · 17/06/2024 23:45

It's from Boohoo, I'd say size is fine, you have to pull it down so no quick release!

MadameMassiveSalad · 18/06/2024 07:13

Help! I need a beautiful flattering supportive good quality swim suit!

Size 18
Ff boobs

I don't care about price.
Any suggestions?

Blueberrycreampie · 18/06/2024 09:42

Have a look at Landsend. I bought two from there and very happy with the quality. May need to size up slightly though!

Hmm they only seem to go up to a DDD cup whatever that is

Chewbecca · 18/06/2024 11:04

If you have a hefty budget as well as hefty boobs, I'd recommend Prima Donna swimwear, cup sized and really flattering. Rigby and Pellar sell the brand.

Blueberrycreampie · 18/06/2024 11:29

@MadameMassiveSalad I'm definitely more than that. You need to choose plus at the beginning!
