Fat girl summer - let's slay 💅

So, for those of us who are chunky yet funky, what's the plan ladies?

Shall we give no fucks and wear nice comfy summery clothes or do we worry about keeping every inch of us covered head to toe in black until we sweat so hard we melt? What's the plan?

Currently a size 20/22 myself, unlikely to get down to a magical size 14 by July so I'm looking at the nice comfy looking linen pants, few maxi dresses, shorts because I'm a wee chubby pale rebel and to really go wild a jumpsuit or two.

Simply be has some lovely things at the moment including shoes, asos curve is looking alright and vinted is my best pal.

I'm 35 for a few more months and don't want to have another summer in my 30s hating my body, so this year I'm going to embrace it. Anyone with me?

Just thought I would post today’s outfit, I don’t dress up every day but had a medical appointment today. The dress is from https://youknowwhos.co.uk/ they have some lovely things reduced from High Street Stores and quite a bit in bigger sizes and the cardigan is from https://joanieclothing.com/ who go up to a 22. I love Joanie and have quite a few things from them, usually in the sale!

Love the denim jacket, the hearty jumpsuit and the green dress and cardigan. Happy Friday everyone. 💜

Ooooh - you look lovely! And I've now gone and ordered some clothes from that website... 🙄😀

Lwrenn · 14/06/2024 12:42

There is so many gorgeous clothes here I think the next thread will be...

"Slim girl summer - we're to poor to eat 💅"

Also something else I didn't need to discover, simply be bags... goodness gracious they are beautiful! I'm a bag lady opposed to shoes because I'm definitely a comfort lass over a stylish one in the foot department but simply be bags are sensational.

Also I can't believe we finally got a troll! Bloody took them long enough 😂

I was planning on doing a wee Taylor swift dress up tonight in the kitchen and playing some songs since I couldn't get tickets but absolutely nobody in my house gives a fuck she's in town so sequins would be wasted on them.

Can I join in? I’ve really enjoyed the happy and positive attitude of all the lovely posters. I’ve got huge norks and lymphedema after cancer treatment, which has made me hate showing my swollen arms and ankles. I usually wear very tailored or fitted things, and mainly trousers, but I need a dress for a couple of things I have coming up. I ordered this dress from Love &Roses/Next, which has just arrived. The ruching is very forgiving, it hangs nicely and is maxi length on me (5’5”) I’m delighted with it, even though it’s not my usual style.

I love the colour combo, very pretty!

I went for the black and white outfit. Someone was looking at me on the tube, obvs my first reaction was what was wrong with me but then I had a teenytiny thought that maybe.. maybe I looked nice!

Solongtoshort · 14/06/2024 16:37

Ooh @LakeSnake that lovely a lovely jacket x

Thanks (or because?) of this thread, I now have this cardigan/jacket on its way to me.

Getting impatient but it looked so lovely 😻
It will work well a few dresses I already have (and necessary for the type of weather we’ve had until now ….)

Edited

I’ve been eyeing up this one too! A light tank top with floaty kimono jacket is my outfit of choice this summer.

Hello! Welcome!
I'm glad you've found us 💐

A good friend of mine has lyphedema and she finds wearing wide leg trousers and a blazer is her feel good outfit. She uses to wear lots of mini skirts and sleevless tops but she no longer does, it knocked her confidence significantly.

I absolutely love that dress and I'm almost your height, so it's good to know it fits nicely!

I've learnt alot from this thread about how much cancer changes your body which is just another added kick really. Stupid cancer.

QueefofSheena · 14/06/2024 22:54

Thanks @Lwrenn my winter ‘game’ is much better than summer as it’s harder to cover the bits I am insecure about. I’ve adopted wide legged trousers and at least I’m still here ☺️ so I can’t really complain.

I’m a bit of an old punk/goth so I get a lot of tailored jackets etc from Disturbia. They also have some swishy dresses if anyone fancies something a bit edgy.

Hi evenstar, I really love this dress! What’s the sizing like? I can’t see a chart in the website.
It does look really lovely on you.

Evenstar · 15/06/2024 00:10

@JimmyGrimble thank you ☺️ I am currently between an 18 and 20 and it was an XL size, as their items are different brands I don’t think they have a size chart. The brand on it is Ellie B which I only found on Amazon.

JimmyGrimble · 15/06/2024 00:14

Thanks Evenstar, I appreciate your reply. I’m going in for another look!

TragicMuse · 15/06/2024 15:57

Those with the Asri dress, how are the thin straps? I love the look but they look thin and like they'd dig in, especially with a heavy bust...

I love the wider straps of the leopard print but not the print so much and I like the cross over back but not the length!

ChristmasLightsLover · 15/06/2024 17:38

I went out today, in my Elise fat face jeans. And I love them. They have a bit of stretch too so they have been comfy for hours of wear. Thank you again to whoever recommended them on this thread! Flowers

Chewbecca · 16/06/2024 09:44

I think the boobs are held in place by the thickness of the fabric as much as the straps on Asri. Weather hasn't been good enough to wear yet though!

TragicMuse · 16/06/2024 12:48

Thanks @Chewbecca

I'm stalking Vinted for one. Their sizing demands are most confusing! I need to go by label. Not listing!

Dollyparot200 · 16/06/2024 17:40
