Fat girl summer - let's slay 💅

So, for those of us who are chunky yet funky, what's the plan ladies?

Shall we give no fucks and wear nice comfy summery clothes or do we worry about keeping every inch of us covered head to toe in black until we sweat so hard we melt? What's the plan?

Currently a size 20/22 myself, unlikely to get down to a magical size 14 by July so I'm looking at the nice comfy looking linen pants, few maxi dresses, shorts because I'm a wee chubby pale rebel and to really go wild a jumpsuit or two.

Simply be has some lovely things at the moment including shoes, asos curve is looking alright and vinted is my best pal.

I'm 35 for a few more months and don't want to have another summer in my 30s hating my body, so this year I'm going to embrace it. Anyone with me?

I'm loving this thread and it's helping me loads. I'm a size 20 i was 22 but I've lost a little bit. I brought the dress below from vinted its from sosander and I'm in love ❤️. I tried it on and thought I.ll save for best. But reading this thread I've decided no im going to wear and enjoy. Today I saw my legs reflected in a shop window and could not help the thought oh gosh fat legs. Then I could hear all your voices saying you look great rock that dress. I hope I keep those voices and it drowns out my negative one. Plus my hubby said I looked great lol. I so glad there hasn't been negativity on this thread. When I've posted before I've had the usual just eat less, less calories in you.ll lose weight, but sometimes it's not that easy because of menopause etc. Thank you all

That dress fits you really well and you look great in it!

They aren't fat, you have a gorgeous figure! Genuinely they're a cracking pair of legs! My good friend is a leg man, I was telling him about this thread because it's really cheered me up and he told me by encouraging you all to get your pins out I've just made that wee perverts and that of other perverts' summer more brighter. I've made our purses lighter, creepy arse men happier and yet, I'm still enjoying my self 😁

And that dress is absolutely perfect for you, I love it! Thanks for posting! 💐

@Hecatoncheires l have this skirt it is beautiful on, if l weren’t already dressed l would of worn it today, some days l don’t look in my wardrobe enough l think l will give it a tidy tonight.

l wore my shein dress again tonight a stranger and my friends loved it but so did the drunk who said it made him feel dizzy but l think that might have been the alcohol making him dizzy not my dress.

l have a plain green dress on today and l think l am probably going to wear a cardigan like a shield because l am going to my mums aNd my dads favourite conversation is how big l am so l am hoping to get away before he gets back from his 4 hour gym session which l will hear all about as well ( he wonders why we don’t visit a lot).

have a good day all, the sun has got its hat in x

I hope your dad didn't say anything to put you off feeling, looking and being fabulous 💖

Im loving this thread still! Genuinely @Lwrenn , I think I’ve worn an outfit I’ve actually liked every single day since I first posted on here. Normally I’m hiding, or punishing myself for not having lost weight.

Next recommendation from me is MuthaHood. On the more expensive side. But I’ve just bought this dress and I reckon I could wear it to the park, work or a wedding! Shirred waist and sleeves make it very forgiving (I sized down). https://muthahoodgoods.com/collections/dresses/products/felicity-floral-button-front-midi-dress I can get a £10 refer a friend code - if anyone wants one then PM me!

Yes!!! I love that for us all, you loving your clothes this summer. Yes, yes, yes!

That dress is absolutely gorgeous. You're right about how it covers loads of places to be worn. Just so pretty!

Here’s a funny thing. I’ve been feeling so warm and positive from this lovely thread that I’d forgotten my actual size and got a surprise/shock when I saw myself reflected in the living room patio doors yesterday. 😁And, even better, I chuckled about it instead of feeling shit!

weebarra · 01/06/2024 07:42

Well, people who say MN is a nest of vipers really should read this lovely thread!
I love Muthahood, I don't have their dresses but I have a couple of very colourful sweatshirts.

FredsRoses · 01/06/2024 09:49

I can't believe how many new sources of clothes I've learned about since this thread was launched, and have thoroughly enjoyed looking at every one of them, thanks for sharing ladies. I've also felt a tremendous boost to my self confidence since I started reading, it's as if someone has given me permission not to hide, and said it's OK to be the size you are. I can't tell you what a wonderful feeling that is! So a massive thank you to 'Lwrenn' for bringing us all together, without any of the usual sniping that we get on MN.

I know! if I catch myself in a mirror or shop window it takes a second or two to realise that the grey haired fat woman is me!

I saw a "girl" from school a few weeks ago in town and was horrified she wasn't still 13.
I went on to be as equally as traumatised later that day to realise I also was no longer a teen! 😂

Funnily enough you've nailed exactly how I'm feeling, that permission to NOT hide!
I know with all logic that wearing things I don't enjoy doesn't make me slimmer but I almost felt like I didn't deserve to feel dressed nicely, reading how many of us feel this way is in the nicest way, great. It's like we're in the same boat and I'm sorry you're in this boat of feeling bad about yourself, but selfishly, I'm enjoying the company! 😁

That is so true I've felt for ages I don't deserve it but thread has made me realise I do. It's also.done it in really nice and truthful way. I am looking at all the links and realise I don't have to just wear leggings.

Hecatoncheires · 01/06/2024 14:57

@MooBaggage That skirt is lovely! I do like a nice maxi skirt. Takes me back to my teenage goth days when all my skirts either swished round my ankles or barely covered my bum.

Seaside3 · 01/06/2024 16:49

@LakeSnake no, it's doubled up i think, so actually quite thick. Not the best pic, but here you go. Ignore the obligatory water spill on my boob. And whilst I nearly chickened out of wearing it, I remembered, they're just arms. And aren't I lucky to have two arms that do what they're supposed to do.

Fat girl summer - let's slay 💅
BollockstoThis1 · 01/06/2024 17:01

@GoingDownDown love that dress you shared but as well as being rotund 22-24 I also 5’11’. So think it maybe much shorter on me and the waist might be more empire line?

I need an outfit for either a BBQ or meal out next weekend. Anyone seen anything in a cool to wear wafty fabric preferably any green colour bright greens or more sage khaki colours or corally red colours?

LakeSnake · 01/06/2024 17:27

@Seaside3 thank you!

ChishiyaBat · 01/06/2024 18:07

That blouse looks great @Seaside3 it looks very versatile too. I hope you had a great day!

How do they walk in those..?

boinin · 01/06/2024 18:43

I've read this thread since it began and I'm overwhelmed at the support and encouragement offered.

I'm 45, 5'3 and between 18-20. I'm the biggest I've ever been but the last two years have been horrific for me and I self medicated with food. I hate how I look; belly, bingo wings, double chin, the lot. I've taken some ownership and I'm in therapy and making sensible food choices.

Three days ago I looked in the mirror, I'm pretty, I have dark blue eyes that always get compliments and my boobs, despite being big are in good shape🙂. On the back of that, I made a hair appointment and gave the stylist free reign with colour and style. What a difference🙂 It's quite youthful and very blond.

I also ordered 3 tankinis, one is a halter neck and is quite flattering. I was shy in showing my husband but he loved it. We're going on holiday in September and I'm determined not to feel self conscious about my body because life is short and death is long.

The clothes here are beautiful and I wish all you lovely ladies happy wearing 🥰
