Fat girl summer - let's slay 💅

So, for those of us who are chunky yet funky, what's the plan ladies?

Shall we give no fucks and wear nice comfy summery clothes or do we worry about keeping every inch of us covered head to toe in black until we sweat so hard we melt? What's the plan?

Currently a size 20/22 myself, unlikely to get down to a magical size 14 by July so I'm looking at the nice comfy looking linen pants, few maxi dresses, shorts because I'm a wee chubby pale rebel and to really go wild a jumpsuit or two.

Simply be has some lovely things at the moment including shoes, asos curve is looking alright and vinted is my best pal.

I'm 35 for a few more months and don't want to have another summer in my 30s hating my body, so this year I'm going to embrace it. Anyone with me?

@weebarra it is lovely. Balances me put as I feel my shoulders need broadening a bit. And my face/hair/boobs are probably the nicest bits of me, so no harm done there either. 😀

Your arms, like my arms, and the majority of people who don't have slender toned arms, are just ... arms. We all, myself included make a big fuss about arms and they're arms. We need to stop hiding them don't we, they're literally just... arms!
And I appreciate mine, without them I'd struggle massively, I need to stop picking on my arms and be nicer to them.
I don't look at anyone elses arms and be mean to them, like I do my own, yet my arms are much more useful to me than anyone elses. Madness isn't it? 😂
All this insecurity over the most useful of appendages, how daft I've been.

I really hope your dresses are lovely!

Very true, I don't care what other people's arms look like, so why would others be thinking about my arms. And my arms are pretty useful too, as someone who works with amputees I should have an above average appreciation for them 🤣.

It's the whole trying to look in the mirror and my eyes being instantly drawn to the bits I don't like, as opposed to do like that needs work. Will I get over it this year ? Probably not. But will I do my best to 🤫 that annoying voice telling me to cover up? Yes

It's practically identical to the one I was trying to get a photo of myself in yesterday 🤭. Very flattering and can't go wrong with black!

My h and m order finally arrived, it was stuck with evri for ages.

So, I love, love this dress. I've got it for a relaxed.evening wedding do, and a 50th birthday. It's also perfect for my holiday. I am only 5'2", and a size 18. I've lost a few pounds lately, so git it in a large, and its perfect. It is long, but my legs aren't my favourite thing to show off. I'll.try for a headless photo on Saturday.

https://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.1222682002.html

I also bought these. Meant to be cropped, but they are ankle length, which suits me. A badly broken ankle years ago means it now swells and deforms in the heat, so I'm fine to keep it covered. The trousers are a bit snug, but I'm confident I'll drop a few more pounds, so happy with them https://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0971104027.html

And I got this. Covers my mahoosive bingo wings and looks smart. Could probably have done with a larger size on my boobs, but didn't want it to loose as I.tend to drop weight on my rib cage 1st. I know, weird. But it gives me a more hour glass shape that I like to share, not hide. https://www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.1179983001.html

Now I'm looking what to order.next!

I love the trousers in zebra print and the dress in all the patterns, but the cream floral one is beautiful 😍
The black is the one I'm eyeing up though, as much as I've moaned about wearing black all the time I do love a lbd!

@Seaside3 I like that little white blouse very much. I’ve been looking for something like it to wear with this skirt I got from Next recently.

And your dress is lovely. 😍

OMG I love that skirt! Until this thread I didn't realise Next did bigger sizes - now very tempted to do an online order...

MooBaggage · 31/05/2024 09:59

I am ridiculously excited today because I recently discovered there's a Yours shop very near where I live and it's payday weekend, so am off in a bit for a quick shopping trip 😀

I virtually never go into 'real' shops, but am trying to wean myself off online shopping - I'm useless at getting round to sending things back, so just end up with lots of stuff I'll never wear going to charity shops...

So, an actual shopping trip this morning - I really want some denim shorts, possibly a pair of linen/cotton cropped trousers and maybe a new tshirt 😀

Solongtoshort · 31/05/2024 10:45

@Hecatoncheires l have this skirt it is beautiful on, if l weren’t already dressed l would of worn it today, some days l don’t look in my wardrobe enough l think l will give it a tidy tonight.

l wore my shein dress again tonight a stranger and my friends loved it but so did the drunk who said it made him feel dizzy but l think that might have been the alcohol making him dizzy not my dress.

l have a plain green dress on today and l think l am probably going to wear a cardigan like a shield because l am going to my mums aNd my dads favourite conversation is how big l am so l am hoping to get away before he gets back from his 4 hour gym session which l will hear all about as well ( he wonders why we don’t visit a lot).

have a good day all, the sun has got its hat in x

Blueberrycreampie · 31/05/2024 10:51

@Lwrenn Yes you're right - I miss the old Evans shops. Used to get some great bargains there from time to time, and the quality was good!

I love that skirt - if I didn't have several maxi skirts already (that I never wear) I would be very tempted.

Hecatoncheires · 31/05/2024 14:28

@Solongtoshort I bet it was your gorgeous magnificence that was making the drunk dude feel dizzy with desire.

I have a few maxi skirts and I will wear them this summer. I will! Even just round the house and not saving them For Best (which never ends up happening).

Hecatoncheires · 31/05/2024 14:29

@Blueberrycreampie Buy it and wear it! Interesting how the different colours are different prices. The blue one is £35 but one of the others is just £22.

Ooh I didn't notice that, it was the blue I fancied - or the black! Maybe I will....

LakeSnake · 31/05/2024 15:05

@Seaside3 , I really like the blouse.
Do you find it can be quite see through or not really? I’d love to buy it in white but with that colour, I often feel like I’m wearing nothing iyswim

BeretRaspberry · 31/05/2024 20:27

Just checking in. I’m off to a wedding tomorrow and will be wearing this dress. I’ve also got shoes, bag and a fascinator in hot pink to contrast. And a pashmina in the same just in case the weather’s a bit nippy.

I’m half dreading it in case I’m not feeling great. I have ME and haven’t had the best week but I should be ok. I wish this stupid illness would bog off at times. Well, all of the time.

@BeretRaspberry from a fellow ME sufferer, I hope you have a great day and you won’t crash too hard afterwards.

This dress is lovely!! I really like both the pattern and the shape. A shame they don’t do my size anymore.

Oh no, what size are you that they don’t do anymore? Sorry to hear you’re an ME sufferer too. It’s the pits at times. You can’t plan anything.

I'm loving this thread and it's helping me loads. I'm a size 20 i was 22 but I've lost a little bit. I brought the dress below from vinted its from sosander and I'm in love ❤️. I tried it on and thought I.ll save for best. But reading this thread I've decided no im going to wear and enjoy. Today I saw my legs reflected in a shop window and could not help the thought oh gosh fat legs. Then I could hear all your voices saying you look great rock that dress. I hope I keep those voices and it drowns out my negative one. Plus my hubby said I looked great lol. I so glad there hasn't been negativity on this thread. When I've posted before I've had the usual just eat less, less calories in you.ll lose weight, but sometimes it's not that easy because of menopause etc. Thank you all

Im loving this thread still! Genuinely @Lwrenn , I think I’ve worn an outfit I’ve actually liked every single day since I first posted on here. Normally I’m hiding, or punishing myself for not having lost weight.

Next recommendation from me is MuthaHood. On the more expensive side. But I’ve just bought this dress and I reckon I could wear it to the park, work or a wedding! Shirred waist and sleeves make it very forgiving (I sized down). https://muthahoodgoods.com/collections/dresses/products/felicity-floral-button-front-midi-dress I can get a £10 refer a friend code - if anyone wants one then PM me!

Also, I’ve stuck half my wardrobe on Vinted. All the stuff I’ve kept because it’s good quality or it was expensive etc. If I don’t genuinely expect I’ll wear it in the next year it’s getting sold or donated! So thank you if any of you have bought my stuff 😁
