Maybe Letizia was a really really big fan of Dangerous Liaisons!

Maireas · 07/06/2024 22:47

Didn't we find out recently that Leti's dress was the most expensive royal wedding dress?

OP posts:
KillingMeDeftIy · 07/06/2024 22:52

Yes, something crazy like $3 million.

Papergirl1968 · 07/06/2024 23:07

Goodness there are some horrors there among the attendants’ outfits.
Leti’s wore gold polka dot snoods apparently. Wouldn’t you just hate her, not only for marrying a handsome Prince but for making you look a complete horror.
Pippa Middleton seems to be the only royal bridesmaid ever to wear a flattering dress.

Birthday girl Mary’s bridesmaids look like someone’s decided to make a 90s romcom version of The Mikado and they’ve been cast as the three little maids from school. There’s something very late 90s about how matchy-matchy it all is.

The floral dress on the left, where it's from? It would be great if someone here happens to know. I love it.

It's the Westminster wedding. I don't know who these guests are.

Sorry for barging in.

IIRC the pages at the Charles/Victoria Spencer we'd

PoppySeedBagelRedux · 08/06/2024 06:46

Oops hit post by accident

IIRC the pages at the Charles/Victoria Spencer wedding were in outfits inspired by a painting at Althorp. The whole thing was so much better in theory, than practice, but it didn't help that the weather was wet and rainy I think.

FairyBreadQueen · 08/06/2024 07:10

I really liked Victoria Spencer's wedding dress. She looked like a medieval princess. It helped of course that she was ethereally beautiful. I googled her recently and she is still stunning. As my mother tells me helpfully, i look like a hobbit and Victoria Spencer was always my dream aesthetic.

Maireas · 08/06/2024 07:39

It was a very rainy day and I read that the damp fur on Victoria's dress did not improve with the rain, in any sense.
I think the dress wasn't white or even cream, so didn't look particularly bright.

I've just seen video of the new Duchess of Westminster coming out of the cathedral and I thought the dress looked much better in motion. I really liked it whereas in photos it looks a bit boring.

Maireas · 08/06/2024 07:53

That's interesting, @MrsLeonFarrell because I was wondering if it looked better in real life. Sometimes the photos don't do justice to certain wedding dresses.

The fabric moved beautifully which I think was a big part of it.

I love the wedding dress and veil. I think the bride looks good even if her hair is a bit severe. Really don’t like the dark blue shoes and the bridesmaid’s dresses look very ill -fitting. Their dark shoes look awful too.

I think the bridesmaid dresses look nicer closer up, when you can see the details - black piping around the waist and neck and small black bows on the back to tie in with the shoes.

Here’s Dan Snow, lady Edwina Grosvenor and their two daughters who were bridesmaids.

Serenster · 08/06/2024 08:37

Actually, looking at that again, I think the shoes and piping are royal blue - to tie in with the bride’s shoes?.

(Makes me think that it must be tough being a royal where you have to think what you’ll look like when seen from a long way away - something most people don’t have to think of, as a bride and her attendants will mostly be seen and photographed by people in close proximity!)

Maireas · 08/06/2024 08:42

The shoes look like royal blue velvet, which is a nice choice.

deeahgwitch · 08/06/2024 09:36

I love Edwina Grosvenor-Snow's shoes.

Serenster · 08/06/2024 11:07

They are the Malone Souliers Maureen mules - absolutely gorgeous, but pricey! I wistfully look at them every now and again …😀

Chewbecca · 08/06/2024 11:43

I think the bridesmaids dresses also have a blue velvet bow on the back.

I loved the tiara, but don't think it needed such severe hair to show it off, it would also look stunning nestled into waves / curls. Although I guess that isn't her usual look either.

The dress fabric hung and draped really beautifully from the waist.

Thank you very very much!!

SqueakyDinosaur · 08/06/2024 14:07

I think the weather forecast may well have influenced the hairdo - the veil needed to be able to billow without wrecking it.

Maireas · 08/06/2024 18:35

Oh, that's a cute dress on the woman next to Eugenie.

The one with the veil is beautiful. I really don't like black and white pictures, though, I don't see the point.
