I'm definitely not a fan of Olivia's dress. The fabric looks flimsy and the lace around the neck feels old fashioned. Her shoes are too heavy for the lightness of the dress.

I wish them a very happy marriage, they look great together.

deeahgwitch · 07/06/2024 19:39

I think the bride's shoes and the flower girls' shoes were too heavy / clumpy for their dresses.

gluenotsoup · 07/06/2024 19:42

I’m a bit disappointed with the wedding…
The flowers and veil are beautiful and I like the idea of the scalloped detail on the dress and the blue shoes. For me though, the shoes are too dark and heavy for the dress and take away the elegance, a lighter touch with it would have been better. I’m not keen on the cut or the fabric, it seems to drag against the under layer in some photos. I think there are nicer Westminster tiaras, the tiara she’s wearing is indeed lovely, but her hair too severe with it. Maybe the Bagration spinel would have looked good and picked up the scalloping on the dress.
The groom looked very nice, and they both look happy 💕

I often find that with society weddings (covered in Tatler etc) the bride looks good but the bridesmaids have hideous dresses and the guests are badly dressed. This one doesn’t seem to be an exception!

KillingMeDeftIy · 07/06/2024 19:43

But I’m sure becoming a duchess and marrying one of the richest men in the country has its perks!!!

Maireas · 07/06/2024 20:43

I'm not keen on Eugenie's dress, it's very clingy and the colour isn't great on her. Nice hat, though. The Grosvenor sisters all look nice and colourful, and the Dowager Duchess good in that very hot pink!

The Dowager Duchess is wearing Eponine London I think.

Maireas · 07/06/2024 20:52

It's a bold choice but Natalia carries it off. The Grosvenor women seem to have gone for pinks and reds. I approve.

Coast made an identical dress to the one worn by Euge in cream. I looked as bad in it as she does. Great hanger look, bad on the body.

Love the notion of blue shoes, but pale blue satin would've looked so much better. Love the veil, dress and flowers though.

You're right!! The exception being Sarah Chatto's BMs who looked amazing.

PoppySeedBagelRedux · 07/06/2024 21:12

There are one or two nice individual items of clothing but some shockers too - I really dislike the red shirred dress that was already 'seating'. But there have been some awful outfits at international posh weddings too.

RomainesToBeSeen · 07/06/2024 21:18

I'm with @gluenotsoup that it was all a bit disappointing.

The bride's dress isn't a great fit, I dislike the cut out back and the lace edging. The blue shoes are lovely but would be better in a lighter colour. The hair is just too severe with the 'tramline' comb marks at the front.

The bridesmaids' outfits are pretty horrible, particularly the shoes.

I like the colour of Eugenie's dress but not sure that the style or fabric is quite right for her.

On a more positive note, thread mascot #2 is just lovely in his cardigan. 💙

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 07/06/2024 21:19

I love the wedding dress and veil. I think the bride looks good even if her hair is a bit severe. Really don’t like the dark blue shoes and the bridesmaid’s dresses look very ill -fitting. Their dark shoes look awful too.

Papergirl1968 · 07/06/2024 21:43

Lovely though Sophie’s wedding dress was, her bridesmaid and page boy outfits were…very unusual!

I think it's virtually impossible to get page boys outfits right. I remember William and Harry as little boys being in a couple of horrors.

The wedding of Charles Spencer to Victoria Lockwood. Those page boy outfits!

Oh my! There are some truly awful outfits there - the green knickerbockers, sailor suits, pink braces and the funny hats and huge baskets...

I know a lot of it is 'of its time' but they haven't aged well.

Maireas · 07/06/2024 22:13

They weren't even really of their time, @RomainesToBeSeen ! Even then, they looked hideous - I remember lots of comments about the Spencer wedding outfits!

Some of those outfits are really 80s. They're very cute but the girls' dresses look cheap, like Maria von trapp made them out of bedsheets.

Letizia and Felipe's wedding was posted here and her bridesmaids had what looked like medieval traditional dress, it was eye-popping.

Maireas · 07/06/2024 22:28

Oh yes, the Leti and Felipe one was strange.

(Checkout the bridesmaid on the left’s open armpit, too)

Maireas · 07/06/2024 22:45

Oh my god! I did not see that! Also, the headdresses look suspiciously like hairnets...
