Are my eyebrows really bad?

I have none
Over plucked when I was young and they never grew back.
I use a brow pencil to draw them on but they never look nice.
This is them
Are they bad?
How can I improve them?

The colour looks a little dark for your skin tone and hair colour. Maybe try a lighter shade and not as aggressively filled in?

CulturalNomad · 14/04/2024 20:35

You're trying to do too much. That's a very thick, dramatic brow with an arch and it looks like it's drawn above your natural brow line.

I do love a thick brow, but like you I over-plucked/waxed in my youth and my brows are now pretty sparse. I use a brow pencil with a very fine tip and just fill them in (and add a little shape) by using light, feathery strokes. I finish with a tinted brow wax. They look natural. Not as thick as I'd ideally like, but that would be too much "coloring in".

There are tons of tutorials on YouTube. Practice, practice, practice!

Overtheatlantic · 14/04/2024 20:39

Perhaps have them professionally done and get some tips from the aesthetician?

addictedtotheflats · 14/04/2024 20:42

They aren't the best brows (no offence) if this was me I would definitely consider microblading. I personally don't touch my brows I leave them to the professionals and get henna brows every 8 weeks ish. Its hard not to be tempted to pluck them yourself but worth it I think

Scarletttulips · 14/04/2024 20:44

You can get brow shaping stencils - try some of those? But yes they are awful.

JaninaDuszejko · 14/04/2024 20:45

Are your natural brows really so high or are you drawing them in above your natural browline or have you had work done? I think they are too dark and blocky and far too arched.

50Fifty · 14/04/2024 20:47

Like everyone has said -

Too thick
Too dark
The arch is too high

They look too harsh given your hair colouring.

addictedtotheflats · 14/04/2024 20:48

These are my henna brows, no pencil or colouring in. The tint stains the skin so gives the illusion of fuller brow without being too dramatic. Its took time to get them to this point though and my brows are naturally fair

BIWI · 14/04/2024 20:49

Buy some RapidBrow - it's a serum that you paint over your brows (a bit like a mascara wand) and it encourages regrowth.

Clarabellawilliamson · 14/04/2024 20:49

They look really good @addictedtotheflats !

Whitesapphire · 14/04/2024 20:51

Yeah, get them microbladed

EffinMagicFairy · 14/04/2024 20:51

Consider micro blading, this has come a long way, have a look at nano blading, feather brow, powder brow, I’ve had mine done and have a very natural look and best part is no daily maintenance, ready to go, game changer.

BarbsAllotment · 14/04/2024 20:56

Yes OP sorry, there awful.

Way too thick and dark. It's the outline that isn't neat and where it's aggressively coloured in too.

Try microblading. Or a much smaller precise pencil so you can get hair like strokes. Draw on hair strokes rather than an unflattering block of colour.

BarbsAllotment · 14/04/2024 20:57

Can you upload a picture of both brows and crop the rest of your face out? We might be able to advise more that way.

therestisstillunwriten · 14/04/2024 21:04

Picture of both
I'm absolutely useless drawing them on

Angry birds springs to mind.

Micro blading gives a similar look and is quite harsh looking.

Axx · 14/04/2024 21:12

One if them is too pyramid shaped, softer would look nicer I think.

Lalalalalabambaa · 14/04/2024 21:15

You need the right shape putting in by a professional. If you're anywhere near Cheshire I'd recommend brows by sarah! She put a lovely shape in my over-plucked 90s brows. I had powder brows so no fake looking hair lines.

You can get them tattooed on which means you never have to worry about it again. They would look a lot better either drawn or tattooed with lots of thin lines instead of being fully coloured in.

Elfie23 · 14/04/2024 22:12

You could try Christian Eyebrow amzn.eu/d/9zgRwBL

They come with 3 stencils and the powder, I use these and you can go as heavy or light as you like with it. I find a light covering fills in my incredibly sparse natural eyebrows.

InAMillion · 15/04/2024 01:09

I use this from Benefit which is really easy to use and draw quick single strokes. It stays on really well too. It has a mascara wand on the other end which helps before and / or after application

My eyebrows have always been much darker than my hair

This pencil comes in really good colours

My pencil is a dark brown but slightly grey which goes well with my blonde hair similar to yours actually

InAMillion · 15/04/2024 01:13

You need to draw more upward and sparse looking stokes nearer your nose so it looks less blocky as it were

Also taper it out towards the end again with more individual strokes

Once you get the hang of it you'll do it very quickly

The colour in your second photo suits you better the brown grey similar to what I use actually

If you want to grow your eyebrows back you can actually try minoxidil for hair growth

neverendingcold · 15/04/2024 06:26

There is a product called "gimme brow" by benefit that is like a mascara. It looks a lot more natural than pencil for me and a lot easier to apply. I would also consider getting them professionally shaped

olympicsrock · 15/04/2024 06:33

I also use gimme brow by benefit. It is a tiny mascara easy to apply and brushes your existing brows into shape.
I’m sorry to say your brows look awful. Too dark thick and very blocky - no appearance of hairs.
I would invest in a brows tutorial. Could you go to a benefit counter in a department store?

olympicsrock · 15/04/2024 06:35

Could you post a picture of your brows without makeup so we know what your starting point is?
