If your husband is insisting then why not spend the money, but I wouldn’t spend 1500 on a bag because there are so many really good fakes around now you can never tell who has the real or the fake ones.

Handbags get scuffed, dirty, lost, stolen, and spilled on in a way that coffee machines and wallpaper don't.

I've lost count of the number of times my water bottle has leaked in my handbag. And the number of times there's been no hook on the back of the loo door and I've had to put it on the piss-damp floor. 🤮🤮🤮 There's no way I'd pay out half the cost of a brand new Strad for something that's going to be scuffed and filthy inside five minutes. I could buy an Rpole, mat, and carry case and still have change for that kind of money.

@Springsocks it's been a bit of a chaotic thread 😂 but I've chosen one now. I have a Neverfull GM and a Bayswater so wanted to go for something a little smaller! My dream is a Chanel Classic in jumbo but I can't see that I'll ever be able to afford one.

When I'm out with my instrument, all that stuff goes in my gig bag (a soft, highly-padded case for said instrument).

The rest of the time, that's what cheap rucksacks from Mountain Warehouse are for. They machine wash too, to cope with the aftermath of piss-damp loo floors.

I think if I actually had one of these OMG-all-the-money bags, I'd be too scared to use it in case it got damaged or stolen.

Vito I think you've been unlucky with toilet floors. I hang my bag on the door handle if there's no hook, or keep it on my shoulder.
I'm not wanting to get my lovely Gucci bag stained, although a good handbag tends to clean up easily..
I play the clarinet and tend to find there isn't enough space in the case for much else after the spare reeds etc.

Come on Op, you can’t leave us hanging and not say what you’ve bought. I’d either sell a bag I already own so I could up the budget and buy a Loewe Puzzle bag or buy a Toteme T-Lock and either the Sezane, Polene or Strathberry bags I’ve been toying with with the change.

Good idea to go smaller with your Bayswater and LV. Hope you considered a colour though, they can be every bit as useable as the black/nude ones.
Chanel jumbo is heavy even before you put things in it, sometimes the ‘dream’ bags aren’t user friendly 😉
