As the title says. Give or take 10% either way. Looking for a really nice new luxury bag and in need of suggestions.

Spending that much on a vase is literally insane to me. That's 2 holidays surely! 😂

Well yes. I put my hands up to my own 'issues'. Lalique is such a fabulous maker, and the vase is on the desk just to the right of me, day in, day out. It's such a joy- and a true heirloom.

fleurneige · 19/03/2024 18:21

Didn't mean to insult. Just the way I truly feel. That's OK.

But you did.

If you aren’t interested in handbags you didn’t even have to click on the thread. Just because you feel something, doesn’t mean you need to insult people. Insulting people, cause you feel like isn’t ever ok.

£2.5k on a vase is fine, cause it will live forever, but £1.5 on a handbags is a sign of issues?

Someonescatmum · 19/03/2024 18:31

Loewe puzzle bag in tan 💖

RampantIvy · 19/03/2024 18:34

On the back of this thread can I suggest this book. It is a really good read:

That sounds really good 😍😍

EmpressOfTheThread · 19/03/2024 18:41

Yes, @TabithaTwitchel - I remember the bench! I referred to it upthread, that was a memorable response! Although now we can add Lalique vase 😊

It would be classy to not criticise other people choices.

😂

RitaIncognita · 19/03/2024 18:42

My favourite comment ever on one of these threads was someone suggesting buying a memorial bench instead of the handbag. Anyone else remember that?!

I remember that. If memory serves, she had been left the money by an aunt or other relative (with maybe the expectation that the OP would buy something she really wanted with it). Someone suggested that the OP buy a bench in memory of the aunt.

Have you seen this pochette metis in cream? Slightly over £2k, looks like a reasonable size. A sort of sand colour or black as well.

A vase sitting on a desk will ‘live forever’? I admire your optimism that no one will crash into the desk, knock it off and smash it, or that no one will pick it up to admire/dust it and drop it.

I’m not anti luxury bags at all but these days I very rarely carry any sort of bag at all. They just seem so dated to me. I really can’t see the point.

Luxury shoes I can get behind, but not bags.

See I'm the opposite. Prob because I ruin shoes esp heels. Bags all the way for me

superplumb · 19/03/2024 18:59

weaselwords · 19/03/2024 17:42

I keep thinking of getting a cream or grey one, but I wouldn’t love it as much 🧡. Let’s just buy coordinating shoes and get the fancy bag.

Yes!!! I do like orange too. That would look awesome with an all white outfit

superplumb · 19/03/2024 19:02

whitenoisemachine · 19/03/2024 17:58

Horses for courses @fleurneige but if I bought a musical instrument, it'd sit in my home and I'd have no bloody clue what to do with the damn thing. It also would last 5 minutes with my toddler and older one. A handbag however, I shall truly enjoy. We're all different - fancy that!

Yes agree. Fuck the holiday which will be over in a couple of weeks get the bag you love, logo or not.
Tote bag maybe neverfull in leather which is nice or for cross body ysl loulou or a gucci disco would work.

Orange is great, and goes with a surprising number of things.

EmpressOfTheThread · 19/03/2024 19:03

@superplumb I got a red Gucci disco bag and have used it loads, such a useful size.

bendmeoverbackwards · 19/03/2024 19:04

I see this thread has descended into the usual bitchiness and judginess. The OP did not say ‘should I spend £1.5K on a handbag?’ That’s her budget and it’s no one else’s business how others spend their money. This is S&B, people post to get idea or recommendations for fashion and beauty items. You don’t have to post if you don’t have anything helpful to say. Why is it only handbag threads? You don’t get posts on other threads saying ‘don’t buy a dress from Mint Velvet/Whistles/Hobbs/Jigsaw etc, supermarket clothes are just as good’.

Anyway, have you decided on anything yet OP?

bendmeoverbackwards · 19/03/2024 19:07

Nw22 · 19/03/2024 16:40

The puzzle bag is the bag I use the most. It’s so practical but I wouldn’t buy one of the new style ones

Why not @Nw22 ? How are the new ones different? Do you have the small size? I would love one.

ohdamnitjanet · 19/03/2024 19:17

EmpressOfTheThread · 19/03/2024 17:31

Why Iceland?.

Why not?

Nw22 · 19/03/2024 19:24

@bendmeoverbackwards they have changed the way they make them so it’s not actually individual pieces of leather. If you can find an older one i think the quality os better

EmpressOfTheThread · 19/03/2024 19:25

ohdamnitjanet · 19/03/2024 19:17

Why not?

I didn't realise that Iceland made luxury bags worth £1.5k.

Justfivemoreminutesplease · 19/03/2024 19:26

I’m glad someone linked the Acne bag - I found myself in their Gothenburg store a few weeks ago and was seriously tempted by this one which is slightly bigger. The leather is amazingly soft but it also struck me that it was a tough long lasting bag.
I walked away in Gothenburg but buying it is still niggling me even if it would now be at UK prices

EmpressOfTheThread · 19/03/2024 19:28

I really like that bag. Was it cheaper in Gothenburg?

Yes - by a good few hundred pounds I seem to recall. VAT was refundable as well. I’m kicking myself - but I was doing lots of shopping that day and it was near to lunchtime when I went in the store and I was starving. The lovely lady who was working there gave me some brilliant restaurant recommendations as well 😍😂
