As the title says. Give or take 10% either way. Looking for a really nice new luxury bag and in need of suggestions.

@BreakfastAtMimis sorry I was rude.

beatrix1234 · 21/03/2024 09:57

I would go on vinted and find the bag for a 10th of the price then go the beach with the rest of the money and find myself some hot Spanish young man to appreciate my bag 💼

HolidayAtNight · 21/03/2024 10:05

Maybe these threads should be titled like this: "A wizard has cast a spell on you. You must spend £1500 on a handbag. You may not resell it and spend the proceeds on a holiday. Which bag do you buy?"

Floofydawg · 21/03/2024 06:50

Yes, and they're shit.

I can see you don’t go much to primark, I do. I have 10 pounds fake leather bags that look really good that I’ve had in my closet for 5 years and I use a lot (fact is everyone asks were I bought those bags when I wear them). My summer bag from Carpisa in Oxford street cost me 3x and lasted me one summer. Yes there’s a lot of cheap tat in primark but sometimes you will find very nice clothes and bags for 2 pence that will last really long.

whitenoisemachine · 21/03/2024 10:13

I definitely could have updated the original post to say that I have a holiday booked and a bag purchased, but I feel we'd really miss out on the comments that have made this thread quite entertaining.

For those invested, bag is 3 stops away via courier and I am excited!

We needs pics !

Floofydawg · 21/03/2024 10:27

@beatrix1234 correct. Primark clothes would not look good with my Gucci/LV/Mulberry bags.

TheMurderousGoose · 21/03/2024 10:34

I always click on the handbag threads to see how many pursed lipped prigs have commented disapprovingly.

This one’s been a corker though.

Handbag threads definitely need to come with various caveats from the OP:

  • Feck off if you’re going to suggest I spend it on a holiday
  • Feck off if you’re going to suggest I go to Primark
  • Feck off if you’re going to suggest I buy a bench
  • Feck off if you’re going to suggest I buy a trumpet/euphonium/flugelhorn
OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 21/03/2024 11:33

@TheMurderousGoose

You missed out the vase !!!

whitenoisemachine · 21/03/2024 11:46

The Package has arrived!

My initial thoughts are that I absolutely love it. The size is bigger than expected and will easily fit my dc's epi pen case (no more bulky bag on the school run etc). It looks and smells gorgeous. I don't think the pictures on the Gucci website actually do it justice. I am so pleased with it and can't wait to wear it out later. I've popped it on a shelf out of the kids' reach for now so my picture isn't too clear either (currently feeding ds to sleep in my dark bedroom!).

Thanks again everyone who sent recommendations and have enjoyed the thread as much as I have 😂.

It’s very nice, but can you fit a trumpet inside?

whitenoisemachine · 21/03/2024 11:55

@ShirleyPhallus thankfully not.

Gorgeous. Enjoy.

Maybe you can put a deposit down on a bench.

Netaporter · 21/03/2024 12:03

This is me right now. Teeny bag which definitely does not allow for trumpet- carrying activities plus an IKEA bag as suggested upthread which I confirm is useful but does not match my outfit at all 😂

£75 on something from FatFace and donate the rest to people in need, for whom that money will make a real difference to their lives.

You're not alone!

You do that then drop your docket. Put your money where your mouth is 😉

It's gorgeous OP. I think it will make a real difference to your life 😂

Yep cheap tat. Luckily plenty of us never have step into that shop.

You (general you) can choose to spend ££15 or £1500. However it's not very classy to sneer at people who, as you put it , "have to shop at Primark"

The Acne one is nice - a bit different and no big logo. Slightly under price point as well.

Why on earth would a luxury brand call itself Acne?

larkstar · 21/03/2024 13:43

@Mouse82 I do and have done for a long time.

ranchdressing · 21/03/2024 13:46

Go for something with very simple and understated logos - I say this only because big logos get copied more and there are more fakes around.

I personally adore Loewe and The Row bags.

ranchdressing · 21/03/2024 13:47

oops i can see you've already bought it, glad you are happy with it..

Yes, I’m a “Primark snob” 🤣
