Yup - same here.

The calendar looks a bit samey. I have about £200 in BD funds and was planning to buy it but I think I'm going to wait for the next box and cancel if it's similarly much of a muchness then just wait for a decent GWP to stock up on things like Dyptique candles that aren't cheaper elsewhere.

AprilLady · 03/07/2024 10:21

I will do a bit more analysis later, but I’m actually quite pleased with the contents on first look. I do like and use the Good Genes and the AB rich cream, and the MZ eye cream is one I have really liked when I’ve used it before. Also like the Lisa Eldridge product, and the Vilhelm perfume looks interesting and not one I have tried before.

Advent calendar is not brilliant for me. There are 3 liquid exfoliants which seems a bit strange.

I'm still making my way through the 4 exfoliating products from 2022's calendar 😬

Disappointed there's no Le Labo perfume this year!

BakeOffRewatch · 03/07/2024 12:14

Could someone please share the contents?

BakeOffRewatch · 03/07/2024 13:42

Thank you so much @SoloCat ! I would definitely get the £240/£260 worth with the following

  1. Sunday Riley Good Genes 30ml FULL SIZE £70
  2. Vilhelm Parfumerie Face of Francis Eau de Parfum 10ml TRAVEL SIZE £40
  3. Dr Sebagh Rose de Vie Serum 30ml FULL SIZE £132
  4. Votary Sensitive Resurfacing Peel 30ml FULL SIZE £70 - is this new? Doesn’t seem for sale anywhere.
  5. Agent Nateur Holi (Oil) Refining Ageless Face Serum 10ml TRAVEL SIZE £43 - full size is £130 30ml

The makeup is fun. I’d made use of the rest of it, and there’s no vitamins or edibles which I think is a good thing. Not a fan of brands Philip Kingsley or Ren, they go unused. I’m not into CBD or candles. No accessories this year I note, or maybe they didn’t want to list it as they were more like extras last year but people made fun of their inclusion.

I think the calendar is great value given there’s so many full sizes. Just depends if you’ll use it.

I’d love a calendar of Serums. Done by season?

I'll wait until the weekend to really think about it and might sign up to BD again and preorder.

I don’t imagine this one sparking joy each day like I imagine the Vogue one did last year, but it’s a good way to stock up for the year.

Oh yes, the MZ eye cream is full size and retails for £105 so that pushes it up quite a bit again.

If we go by DODs method, there’s only 5 for me (Bibbi perfume, Skin Rocks moisturiser, Philip Kingsley Elasticiser, REN product and OTO CBD).

DODs is Drawers of Doom/Despair/Desperation - things you really don’t like and don’t even want to look at on your dressing table or bathroom cabinet!

Is the Bibbi perfume narrative talking about an orgy?! Who wants to smell like that. I love the Ex Nihlio Fleur Narcotique Eau de Parfum description, and I’ve always liked any Vilhelm Parfumerie I’ve received.

I’ve almost convinced myself!

BakeOffRewatch · 03/07/2024 13:51

Sorry forgot the Bibbi Perfume Another Room description

I’m with you @BakeOffRewatch I will get use out of most things, and a couple of things I’m interested in trying…thankfully no bracelets this year 😁
There are one or two things I won’t use, but can gift. It’s not brilliantly exciting I agree.
I have looked at the perfumes on fragrantica and none have great reviews…although it is all subjective. I’m going to think about it too.

You have the Ex Nihlio and you like it then..I’ve never tried any of their perfumes…yet. I think I’m going to go for it..probably 😁
The PK is more of a conditioner or end repair, so would probably use. I don’t like the pre shampoo ones, too much faff!

BakeOffRewatch · 03/07/2024 14:01

Sorry to flood the thread but I need to put the Bibbi description and the Fragrantica review shared by @AprilLady on the last page side by side. So now we know what a famous rich people orgy smells like. That’s given me a right giggle.https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Bibbi-Paris/The-Other-Room-89431.html

I think they should swap descriptions…who wouldn’t buy a maggot infested meadow scent 😂

Hahaha wow that is not tempting

I think this could be okay, like someone said I havent even got through the last set of exfoliant so don’t want those.

So is there a Liberty perfume or not? I’ve loved all the ones I’ve tried so far so that might sway it for me

BakeOffRewatch · 03/07/2024 19:15

I think there is, there’s a new launch listed as the last product. beautyadventcalendar.net/liberty-advent-calendar-2024-sneak-peek-pre-order/

Jellycats4life · 03/07/2024 19:33

I get the impression the new launch LBTY product will be something other than a perfume spray. Something tells me they aren’t giving away full size 50ml bottles.

I think I’m going to swerve on advent calendars this Xmas (famous last words…). I just have so much to use up.

I thought that…it’s going to be body lotion or shower/bath oil/gel I think.
Love to be proven wrong though and it be a full size.

QuackQuackComeBack · 03/07/2024 21:07

The full size LBTY fragrances are 100ml on the website and over £200….is there a chance one of those will be included?

Still a gamble though as personally I thought the Tudor fragrance was quite nasty.

QuackQuackComeBack · 03/07/2024 21:15

Also red lipstick??? Why do all beauty advent calendars seem to include this? Lipstick is such a personal thing and will be totally pointless if it doesn’t suit your skin tone 🤷🏻‍♀️

BakeOffRewatch · 03/07/2024 21:57

Cos it’s Chriiiiiiistmaaaaaaas @QuackQuackComeBack . A nice red lippy in the advent calendar for all the Crimbo dos and the day itself.

Oh you’re right, they are 100ml!

They won’t be giving those away. I think it would devalue the product too much.

I agree - I have never worn red lipstick, and there always seems to be a black mascara in most advent calendars too. I've got a box full of mascara and lipstick that I'll never use.

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 04/07/2024 01:34

Although I like the look of the advent calendar I'm still too undecided to pre order.

RudolfsLeftToe · 04/07/2024 04:19

I think I’m the only one who has pre ordered! It’s my fourth year and I was always going to order because I need one more so everyone in the family has a matching calendar I can reuse ever year.
That being said I’m excited for the lip volumiser, perfumes, votary peel, hair milk - I buy this anyway, and the ren eye cream. I was a bit dubious about ren but I’ve been using the dark spot night cream from last year’s calendar on a patch of sun damage and it’s nearly gone so I’m hoping this will be just as good!

H3lloMums · 04/07/2024 06:48

Is it worth preordering? Seems a similar price as would get in Dec - guessing they don’t want to be left with surplus stock?
