Hello all!

I'm attending a wedding in August and it has a frog theme - I'm wearing the shoes below but struggling to find a dress.

Was wondering if some lovely mumsnetters could help - I'm wearing the shoes below as a statement piece and to go with the frog theme.

I know this is a weird request Grin

I'm also plus size so fat friendly brands please.

Thank you

A frog theme?

Plus size could mean a small 18 - which might be found in the majority of shops, or a 24, which won’t be. Could you be a bit more specific?

Is it otherwise a traditional wedding? Or not?

What is your budget?

How much do you like green?

Yes I appreciate how this can come across as a troll post but the bride has a bit of an obsession with frogs haha their whole wedding invite is full of frog puns. I find it quite cute really.

I'm a size 18-20 but hoping to go down to more of a 16-20 before August but looking at all options.

It's not a traditional wedding in a church, the ceremony and after party is being held at an event venue with is essentially a pub.

That dress is lovely thank you but I'm wondering if I should wear green with the shoes or another colour and just have the frog shoes.

Budget up to £300 - I just thought I'd ask as I'm struggling to style to shoes really.

I’d be tempted to pick out another colour from the shoes - red or dark pink - as the main colour for a dress.

I immediately thought of this dress I know it's out of stock but they do restock most things quite regularly

The shoes are so on point that I wouldn't go any more literally froggy except I'd probably go for a green tea dress and maybe some frog earrings. Perhaps a Kermit handbag!!

Wow, you’ve really Kermitted to the theme!
I agree with PPs the shoes are so out there that a plain dress would be the way to go I feel. Plain green, pink or red possibly. I think I would try to get the Irregular Choice Kermit bag too, but I can only find it in the US and I guess duty/taxes might make it a bit too costly.

Wasn’t doubting you much, @BlushingMermaid! Weddings can bring out some odd fixations. Just hope the wedding couple will be happy with the photos they end up with. (Presumably they do not need reminding that a wedding is a bit more than just a themed party for your friends?)

I personally would not want to wear any sort of frog print or illustrated clothing. I’d just pick an elegant outfit that can be incorporated into my wardrobe, and add a frog themed accessory or two. Shoes and a brooch, maybe. (Proper jewellery, not Christmas cracker tat.) Or a handbag and hair slide.

Personally I think the shoes are more than enough. Just a plain dress to complement them.

By the way, in case it’s of interest from a plus size aspect - this is a rather lovely brand:

Not necessarily for the wedding - maybe lunch with the bride after their honeymoon?

Aydel · 23/02/2024 22:09

They won’t frog-et those shoes in a hurry!

Moomoomouse · 23/02/2024 22:11

Ah what a great thread! 😂

Have a frogulous time OP! I agree a green dress would be lovely.

Onlyvisiting · 23/02/2024 22:19

I love this 😆. Do you know any other guests so you can assess if they are going full on fancy dress or just nod to the theme with some accessories and generally wearing classy wedding clothes? Would be awkward to go full frog and be the only one.....
You def need to top the outfit with this thoug!

mrschocolatte · 24/02/2024 07:11

Hi OP, if it was me I would stick with just a green or pink dress to complement the shoes!

This dress is nice. I love this colour green. And it’s available in pink! James Lakeland

The shoes are amazing! I’d pick a plain dress to compliment a colour in them, maybe some froggy jewellery or a broach? hope you all have a fab day!
