Best Tinted Moisturiser or Light Foundation??

BaconAndAvocado · 07/02/2024 07:51

I'm 54 and use a NARS foundation which is great but I sometimes feel it's a bit too heavy for every day use - walking the dog, trip to the supermarket etc.

Any recommendations for a lighter look?

Tia.

Charlotte Tilbury: Hollywood Flawless Filter or Beautiful Skin Foundation

Another vote for Origins. It is sheer but somehow you do look better for it. Good SPF too.

Alchemistress · 08/02/2024 09:53

The Origins one is good but feels quite greasy on my skin ( and my skin is dry!)

On the high street Bourgeois Healthy Mix or No7 Hydraluminous or L'Oreal True Match are all good and not heavy

Shade wise - use Findation.com.

Turkeyhen - I did the same, got Groenland as wanted to try a darker shade but it’s slightly off shade for me, too orangey, I should have stuck to my usual - Gotland - I’m fair skinned, with not to obvious freckles.

I love the new Bobbi Brown tinted moisturiser and have compliments on looking ‘glowy’.

BaconAndAvocado · 08/02/2024 10:58

Thanks everyone! 💐

I might be going to Bluewater next week, think their Boots has a Nars concession.

If not, will give the No7 Hydraluminous a whirl.

If the boots has an origins if you ask the will decant a little of Ginzing into a tiny pot for you or you could take one of your own

Apolloneuro · 08/02/2024 11:48

I get more compliments on my skin with ELF Halo Glow than anything I’ve ever used before.

RancidRuby · 08/02/2024 11:55

I use Maybelline 4in1 glow perfector. It's very, very light and gives a nice glow to my skin. It's great for everyday wear and if I need some heavier coverage I use it in conjunction with Rimmel match perfection which I use like a concealer just dotted on areas that need a bit more help.

twoforj0y · 08/02/2024 12:06

I am a bit tinted moisturiser user. I feel uncomfortable with regular foundation.

Anyway I use Aveda tinted moisturiser, "inner light" -

www.avedastore.ie/products/inner-light™-mineral-tinted-moisture

The colour I get goes in and out of stock, but it's just perfect. It's dewy without looking greasy, doesn't cake and the colour tones work really well.

When it's out of stock I have used Laura mercier, it's a good alternative but not as nice. Interesting on the Nars mentions. Might look that up too.

doris9034 · 08/02/2024 12:24

I use Clarins Beauty Flash Balm for everyday, and YSL Touche Eclat (with the serum/primer first) for going out

Chantecaille Just Skin. ££££ but worth it.

Seconded! Amazing stuff.

MoreUniWoes · 08/02/2024 12:31

I use Charlotte Tilbury's Hollywood Flawless filter on my nose, cheeks, brow and eyelids then cover any marks, dark circles/blemishes etc with either Glossier stretch balm concealer or Nars Radient Creamy concealer. I found that I didn't like using something all over my face when I just needed a boost and then some cover over certain areas.

I love this product. I am late 50s so my skin is probably on the dry side and it is perfect for sheer coverage.

MissRheingold · 08/02/2024 12:38

Just add moisturiser to your usual foundation to make your own!

This is possibly one of the best for the price and it smells lovely too

It's no good for pale skin. Their lighest shade makes me look tangoed. I do like the texture and light coverage though.

bubblecity · 08/02/2024 12:44

Laura Geller Quench n Tint is fantastic, really lightweight and doesn't look or feel like foundation

I have this foundation, have used it for years in Cool Ivory. But since I've discovered Clinique foundation I find the No7 doesn't last as long on my face but the No7 essentailly natural matches my skin better. Which shade do you use?

I did the Boots colour matching and got Warm Beige.
It is an excellent match, I'm quite pale but needed the warm tone. The other one that gets recommended here is the Hydoluminous one, which I haven't tried.
I've always had very dry skin and as I get older I need something light that doesn't settle into the lines, rather than a higher-coverage foundation that just makes it look like I'm plastering over the cracks!

Thanks for this, I will give Gotland a whirl Flowers It's a lovely product with good coverage so if I can just get the right shade I'll be happy as larry

DoodlesMam · 08/02/2024 14:22

YSl foundation, watered down with moisturiser or primer.

MotionCapture · 08/02/2024 14:30

I like Lumene’s Instant Glow. Very light but gives a smooth dewy look. I am pale and the light shade is great for blonde ‘Scandi’ colouring

Another vote for chantecaille just skin - it’s a game changer!

PinkEasterbunny · 08/02/2024 18:31

Boots no 7 City Light, subtle coverage and great price!

RampantIvy · 08/02/2024 18:51

I find the City Light good, but it's more like a foundation in texture than tinted moisturiser.
