Best Tinted Moisturiser or Light Foundation??

BaconAndAvocado · 07/02/2024 07:51

I'm 54 and use a NARS foundation which is great but I sometimes feel it's a bit too heavy for every day use - walking the dog, trip to the supermarket etc.

Any recommendations for a lighter look?

Tia.

Clinique BB gel is lovely. Great for days when you don’t want much.

LindorDoubleChoc · 07/02/2024 18:46

I've tried loads because I hate an obvious foundation, when people see me it's in natural light and not in some photography studio or filtered on social media.

So the best for me (I have some open pores and flushed cheeks) is without a doubt Bourjois CC cream. I love it and after lots of experiments, this is the one I'm sticking with.

I like estee Lauder daywear tinted moisturiser. It's a universal shade. I also use Armani luminous silk foundation and for lighter days I mix them

Another vote for Origins Tinted Moisturiser. It's really lovely and glowy, a little goes a long way and it has SPF40.

On a similar thread someone recommended a Boots No 7 one that I have really liked, very good price too.
It's the 'Essentially Natural' foundation, as light as many called tinted moisturisers and with SPF 15.

I recently saw a friend I'd not seen for a while and she commented that I looked well and my skin looks good, can't ask better really!

I have this foundation, have used it for years in Cool Ivory. But since I've discovered Clinique foundation I find the No7 doesn't last as long on my face but the No7 essentailly natural matches my skin better. Which shade do you use?

Acrosstheeuniverese · 07/02/2024 20:30

Fenty blurring skin tint is nice.

GettingStuffed · 07/02/2024 20:39

I use Nivea tinted moisturiser. It's great for the price.

Helloitsme16 · 07/02/2024 20:39

Erborian CC cream is just perfect. They stock it in space NK or on Amazon.

Alwaystired2023 · 07/02/2024 20:43

Another vote for Laura mercier but I use the oil free one - have done for over a decade

Speckledy · 07/02/2024 20:51

I bought the Clinique BB gel on a whim recently and love it. I'm very freckly and have never really got on with foundation and now at 49 really hate the look and feel of anything heavy on my skin.

Footyfandango · 08/02/2024 03:07

I also use this, after changing from their City Light.
This feels so much lighter on my skin, very pleased with it, and it is very competitively priced/quality in comparison to some other brands

Notatthemoment · 08/02/2024 06:16

Another vote for Chantecaille Just Skin. I recently bought the rated Hourglass one and didn't find it as good so will be returning to Just Skin ASAP

Luckingfovely · 08/02/2024 06:50

Another newish fan of Erborian - it's just perfect.

Prior to that I always used Estée Lauder EE Cream which is now called Perfectionist I think.

On the high st, I think the Maybelline ones are pretty good for the price.

Zone2NorthLondon · 08/02/2024 07:06

Chantecaille Just Skin

WhereAreWeNow · 08/02/2024 07:38

Another vote for Erborian BB.

I also like the l'oreal green CC cream for a very light touch look. It doesn't really offer any coverage, just a bit of colour correction.

Estee Lauder DW Sheer for when I need a more matt look that lasts all day.

Matildahoney · 08/02/2024 07:43

@BaconAndAvocado @Turkeyhen if you go on Nars website they have a customer service product section & if you tell them which shade in their current products you use they will tell you what matches that. I've no idea why these brands don't make products in the same colours though.

yikesanotherbooboo · 08/02/2024 07:45

I like By Terry and have failed in the past with a few of the options above eg LM, EL, Nars and Boots. I don't often wear makeup these days and like the process of buying so I might have another go with the LM oil free or chantecaille.
One thing I have learned is to go for an assistant who is either closer to my advanced age or at least with similar colouring. I haven't got time for little pots and going back to the shop so want a decent colour match which needs some expertise bearing in mind make up departments are always so brightly lit.

How do you combine a tinted moisturizer with sun protection? I wear SPF50 daily, currently Cantabria Heliocare under Lumene CC. I’m not overly enthusiastic about the Lumene CC and would like to try something new (more glow, less coverage) but it needs to work with a sunscreen.

theduchessofspork · 08/02/2024 08:35

Laura mercier tinted moisturiser

At the high coverage end of TMs

It’s the best there is

Greenly3 · 08/02/2024 08:36

Tropic Beaty booster sheer foundation is excellent! I am pale and this is sheer but I’ve some blurring I use warm beige.

I really like garnier bb cream. Excellent quality for the price.

This is possibly one of the best for the price and it smells lovely too

Garnier do a lovely light fluid SPF 50 which is probably classed as sun cream but I use it pretty much every day as it blends in nicely and my make up sits happily on top. Less than a tenner too.

Actually really rate lots of garnier products
