Botox is it worth it?

Im 50 and all of a sudden I have wrinkles and lines which are really aging, I also look like I’m permanently scowling or growling with collapsed eye brows. Also hate my 11 lines.

I just want to look like a fresher version of my self. Anyone relate? Did Botox fix it for you?

Yes with no malice she looks 45. My cousin is 40 and natural and this girl at work looks considerably older when she’s due her top up. I don’t know if she’s naturally older looking hence starting the Botox so young she’s open that she has it every 6 months and it’s deffo Botox and not fillers. She will need to do this for ever now just to look her actual age and maintain her youth and beauty because she really is a pretty girl. Botox does decrease the elasticity of your skin over time as You are injecting a substance into your skin which stretches it naturally, once it’s time for a top up the skin will be saggier than it was before. Hence it best being started later in life when that elasticity has already weakened.

Any recommendations in Lancashire? My lady has stopped doing it sadly

Can recommend SF Aesthetics in Wigan dependent on what part of lancs you’re in

I don't mean this rudely but you genuinely have no idea what you're talking about.

You can't compare just 2 women and say the younger one who has botox looks older therefore it must be the botox's fault. There are so many factors that determine whether someone looks old or young for their age.

As has already been explained to you, botox doesn't stretch your skin. Basically, it keeps your face muscles rested. It doesn't add volume, except for maybe a bit of swelling half a day after it's done.

Yes, if you look younger due to having botox then let it wear off so your wrinkles reappear you'll look older.... but you're just looking like you would have done if you hadn't botoxed in the first place.

Stardancer89 · 31/01/2024 22:23

Even if it’s scientifically not pumped up then it looks like the skin is saggy - maybe her muscles aren’t as strong any more from constant pricking so doesn’t hold the skin up ?? All I know is what I can see and she looks loose skinned with no definition and years older than she is. Put me off for sure. No matter how beautiful I may look for 6 months. I could t cope for the rest of my life knowing how bad you’d eventually look if you couldnt get to your Botox appt in time or afford it. Reminds me of that film. Death becomes her lol.

Missingmyusername · 31/01/2024 22:25

@InAMess2023 it is true- I’m not against Botox at all. I do think people need to be careful and that not all procedures are very natural looking. Obviously the women who get it must be happy and two joke they can’t show much emotion due to the Botox. They keep going back so they must be happy. None of them have it done in London, they nip out during lunch so at a guess it’s at a salon/clinic in the city centre.

@Boomboomshakeshaketheroom possibly - the ones I know are open about it, so I know they’ve had it. Perhaps they do get their mannequin lines done and that’s why. I don’t ask where, or how much.

Marchintospring · 31/01/2024 22:30

I've had botox over 5 years. Obviously it really helps with how you look. i have a very expressive face and lots of lines.

However I've found my actual mood is better when I don't get it for a while. I 'm wondering if it the chemical or not being able to move my muscles. I've not heard this from anyone else though.

Stardancer89 · 31/01/2024 22:31

I’m just saying it as I see it. I wouldn’t know personally as I still get ID’d at 33. Maybe it’s an illusion of plumping and not a technicality but her skin hangs off her face Probabally due to her over paralysed muscles when she’s due a top up.

no offence but you seem triggered by my comments. She’s not the only person who looks old as hell when it’s not maintained maybe you’re one of these Botox bunnies who is artificially keeping themselves younger in 6 month blocks and needing more and more every time they go for a top up unwilling to admit the truth.

the muscle gets weaker and weaker the more you inject your muscles to relax them so it’s fair to say that the muscles wouldn’t be holding the skin up like it did before you started paralysing them and making them weaker and weaker with every top up. If people didn’t look worse afterwards they wouldn’t keep going back hence my advice to do it when you’re already saggy and not before for vanity or to fit this aesthetic that everyone seems to be looking the same with sausage lips and frozen features. Even the celebs with lots of money get caught looking half dead before their top ups. There’s no miracle cure to ageing ladies not without any side effects any way and that is looking dog rough the week before you appt.

feemcgee · 31/01/2024 22:32

I had it once and it didn't work at all, I was so disappointed. Apparently it doesn't work for a really low percentage of people. Would love to try it again but don't want to waste my money if it doesn't work again.

Missingmyusername · 31/01/2024 22:33

@Stardancer89 Wouldn’t that be filler? Botox only freezes doesn’t it?
Love Island Faye admitted her lips were saggy after having filler removed.

I don't completely agree with this. (I'm not anti botox by the way, I'm tempted to have my first dose quite soon)
I'm sure there are some peoples Botox who is so good I dont notice it, but I do notice most peoples, and I think as soon as it's remotely noticeable it's ageing. It can often create other creases elsewhere due to the lack of movement around the injection site, and it creates a Botox look which is more ageing than fine lines IMO.
For this reason I am going to be super super careful, but I actually don't think it's something you would notice on yourself.

If what you say is true (and people can judge from your posts how reliable a narrator you are), then she gets fillers, not Botox, and it seems they make a significant difference so it's not hard to see why.

Not your thing, fair enough, but poor girl, having to work with someone who is so horrible about her looks. Don't think I'll be taking morality lessons about What Really Matters from you.

If she's due a top up HER MUSCLES ARENT PARALYSED ANY MORE.

Seriously you're talking utter shit.

Aquariumcorals · 31/01/2024 22:37

@Stardancer89 That is factually wrong

NonPlayerCharacter · 31/01/2024 22:40

I do notice most peoples

Once again, unless you already know who's had it, which you don't, you really do not know how often you spot it and how often you miss it.

And aside from that, what a way to live. Do some people really spend their Iives staring at foreheads trying to spot it? I've had Botox for years and I've never noticed it on anyone except when it really is very overdone, even though I know it's very common. It's just not something I think about when talking to people. Why would I?

ohdofukoff · 31/01/2024 22:41

@MonkeysandParrots
I can! Try Kindred Skin if it's your first try. She is medically trained and used to be a GP.

Stardancer89 · 31/01/2024 22:51

I said she was beautiful. That’s not being nasty. When she needs her BOTOX that she tells everyone about (not filler you're assuming based on my terrible narration) then Her crease points around her eyes and jaw is SAGGY. Her forehead has lines and sags over the lines hence my description of saggy and stretched. We’re open and we laugh about it and she admits it herself that she’s 10 years younger over night. We work in a male dominated environment so banter that sometimes tips over the line is normal but when you’re secure you can laugh along. I’m not a doctor I’m just saying it as I see it but the truth seems to hurt and people are getting triggered.Thats the truth as much as you’re not happy to swallow it. I never said I’m against it I just told the woman to only do it when there’s no going back. Not when you’re still young because it’s a downward spiral if you’re not able to keep it up and you look old and haggard before a top up. Makes sense doesn’t it that you look old and haggard afterwards or else people wouldn’t do it over and over. Should have worked on your self esteem rather than filling your self with a synthetic muscle relaxant if peoples observations and opinions get to you.

Tangelablue · 31/01/2024 22:58

I started getting it when I was about 30 for my crows feet. I am now 37 and now get 2 areas. The guy who does mine is a registered nurse and his prices are very reasonable. I think it's worth it

Boomboomshakeshaketheroom · 31/01/2024 23:02

People aren't triggered, despite you being really nasty with your personal attacks, they're just correcting you because you're wrong @Stardancer89

Botox doesn't fix sagginess for starters, if this woman's forehead is literally melting down her face as you'd have us believe, a few muscle relaxing injections wouldn't make a whit of difference. Instead of doubling down and throwing insults around maybe just really think about what you're saying - it doesn't make any sense.

WhenWereYouUnderMe · 31/01/2024 23:03

My self esteem is pretty fucking great and you're still talking garbage 🤷🏻‍♀️

RausageSoul · 31/01/2024 23:06

I have Elemis shower gel, will this save my Botox bill??

WhenWereYouUnderMe · 31/01/2024 23:09

Inject it straight into your forehead and see @RausageSoul

NonPlayerCharacter · 31/01/2024 23:21

That's right, Stardancer89. Your walls of angry, incoherent, factually inaccurate text are definitely a sign that other people are "triggered".

In answer to your question, OP, yes, Botox is worth it for this alone!

Watervolt · 31/01/2024 23:28

Men don't do this.

Why are so many women determined to give the so-called beauty industry their money and self-esteem?

Love yourself as you are instead. You'll end up richer in mind and body.
