Botox is it worth it?

Im 50 and all of a sudden I have wrinkles and lines which are really aging, I also look like I’m permanently scowling or growling with collapsed eye brows. Also hate my 11 lines.

I just want to look like a fresher version of my self. Anyone relate? Did Botox fix it for you?

You need to keep it up or else when it wears off you look worse than before you started. I know this to be true as the skin is pumped up and once the Botox wears away it’s like a deflated balloon. I work with a girl who is only in her early 30’s and you can tell when she’s had her Botox as she looks beautiful again, you can also tell when she’s due a top up because she looks real 45 ish. I’ll try it but only when there’s no other option and Im Already badly saggy!!

Botox doesn't pump your skin up. Sounds like she gets fillers.

Does she truly look 15 years older when she's due to get them done? You could stick her next to some 45 year old women and you wouldn't realise she's significantly younger? That's very unfortunate. Makes me wonder if she gets fillers because she has some kind of condition that they help to hide.

I'm mid 40s and resisted it so far as I'm worried it will make me less accepting of my true face and ultimately more unhappy when I haven't got it. It feels like once you start you'd need to continue, so am putting it off as long as I can.

but you can put it off forever. it is not inevitable

Masmavi · 31/01/2024 21:06

Do you mean for the lines either side of the chin? I've got those coming. Does it help with jowels?

sounds more like fillers, botox doesn’t pump your face up 😀

No I have had an adverse reaction of Lymphadenopathy - enlarged lymph nodes that now have cancer potential and have been warned against it again. It is dangerous - it makes a lot of peop[le a lot of money and they do NOT tell you the risks. playing with fire.

NewYear24 · 31/01/2024 21:23

fillers are good for jowls.

TerrysNeapolitan · 31/01/2024 21:27

And do not believe all these people on here spending X amount of money on treatments that they THINK looks good, have two many friends whom look like clowns with bloated faces, chicken thigh cheeks and a couple of Richmond Sausages for lips, absolutely DELUSIONAL - other half take the utter piss of them - look like CLOWNS. do not buy into this industry - YOU ARE INJECTING POISON INTO YOUR BODY!

A lot of botox nowadays is done terribly, the puffy area between the eyebrow is so common now. When it's done well it's amazing (baby botox) but the puffy, shiny forehead look is just odd and worse than a few lines.

I saw some really awful photos of Kate Beckinsale recently where her skin looked puffy and thin. A very beautiful women who is overdoing it and her skin is suffering.

Sorry you had a bad experience but you are also sounding like a bit of a dick.

WhenWereYouUnderMe · 31/01/2024 21:34

What's puffy skin got to do with paralysing the muscle under the skin then? Or are you just the 50th person on this thread to conflate Botox and fillers because you either don't know what you're talking about, or are bullshitting to rather unsuccessfully make your point?

Are we supposed to be offended by this?

You don’t need to like it, no one is looking to you for approval on their choices 🤷🏻‍♀️

manipulatrice · 31/01/2024 21:48

Yup, I have it every 6 months. Deffo the best thing I have invested in.

Thunderstruckbysnoring · 31/01/2024 21:48

Any recommendations in Lancashire? My lady has stopped doing it sadly

Runnerduck34 · 31/01/2024 21:50

I've been thinking a out trying it for a while but I am a bit scared! Any recommendations for practioners in Kent?

My wrinkles don’t bother me that much-sure I’d rather not have frown lines but they’re not that bad and they’re the only forehead lines I have. But what really bothers me are there horrible small warty growths all over my neck and décolleté which mean I can’t wear shoulder skimming things any more. Do you know if they’d be able to make those vanish? Give me lines any day-they’re pretty easy to get rid of if you don’t like them. But these things are a nightmare!

Surely that's up to them though? What harm does it do you I wonder? Some people like to look "done". To be honest you sound bitter and envious.

I think they are skin tags probably and you can get electrocautery to burn them off, if you have a lot it might take a few sessions. Look up Advanced Electrolysis in your area.

Decaf for this person, please.

How do you find somewhere good and reputable to get it done?

Can you get it done on the day, or do you need to have a consultation appointment first?

anyone recommend anywhere in Cheshire?

how do you know what to ask for?

Edited

I use someone in Altrincham, if that's any good?

RausageSoul · 31/01/2024 22:02

Love my Botox, wouldn't be without it. I still have expression but look so much fresher. Three areas and a top up 2wks after is £200. I got every 3 months.

Only needed the top up once, when I got a spock brow but she sorted it quickly.

Between this and the 2k handbag thread I'm hiding from a lot of frothing mn'rs!
